BB28 Finale Recap
Big Brother 28 comes to a dramatic close as the house pivots from alliances and competition wins to raw emotion and big moves on finale night. Rob Cesternino is joined by Taran Armstrong, Melissa Deni, and Pooya for a deep dive into how it all played out, spotlighting the seasonβs climactic decisions and game-changing moments.
The finale centers on Rick Devensβs path to victory, as he takes home the win after a season packed with layered strategy and shocking choices. The hosts break down the pivotal Final 3 HOH competition, where Devens outperforms Taylor and Drew, cementing his ability to stay cool under pressure. Taylorβs last-minute pitch persuades Devens to cut Drew and take her to the Final 2, a move both risky and emotional. Jury management and speech strategy become critical, with Taylor and Devens both prepping answers, but Devensβs handling of questions, especially when sidestepping naming Drew as his βmost controlledβ houseguest, shows savvy gameplay. The episode explores jury perceptions, last-minute campaigning, and the aftermath for Drew, who walks away from a sure-thing alliance empty-handed.
- Melissa highlights the emotional impact of Devensβs decision to cut Drew and the strong gameplay that led Taylor into the Final 2.
- Taran analyzes how Devensβs jury answers avoided alienating key jurors and leveraged pre-existing relationships from earlier rounds.
- Social strategy comes to the fore as the hosts discuss the lessons future players may learn from Drewβs safer path versus Devensβs willingness to make bold moves.
- The group laughs about the memorable house moments, like the costuming in the final comps and the live finaleβs awkward reunion pacing.
As alliances shift and bold moves pay off, Big Brother 28βs players, and fans, are left wondering: will future houseguests take bigger risks to secure the win? Catch the full breakdown and relive the gameβs wildest moments in this finale recap.

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_04] Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cesternino back with you here on finale night of Big Brother 28. A lot to unpack. Congratulations to Rick Devins, the winner of Big Brother 28. He flipped the coin in Survivor 50. He added a million dollars to the pot, yada, yada, yada.
[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_04] It basically comes back to him after a summer of work here in the Big Brother house to talk about everything from finale night. Here with us, a man who has finally come to the end of a long journey this summer into autumn. It's Taran Armstrong. Taran, how are you?
[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_05] I'm doing great, Rob. I mean, I think we have our official soundbite of the summer. Daddy wants the dove. Okay. Daddy wants the dove and he got it. Yes.
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_04] Uh, that's it. That's it. A big win. Big win for Daddy Devins here tonight. Uh, 6-1 over Taylor. We'll have a lot.
[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_05] And he only had to sacrifice his first born child.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_04] Yes. Yes. Uh, we'll talk about all of the drama from finale night here. The woman who just got off of Twitch. And I'm so excited to be back talking to the voice of the people, Melissa Deni.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01] Yes. I just Twitch streamed. It was insane. It was really honestly pretty crazy. It was just so chaotic. But on it, I mentioned that I have not done a podcast with you, Rob, since literally the season premiere. So this is very exciting. And I'm so happy to be here. Yeah, exactly. Bookends. What a great season. What a great result. It was such a fun finale. Uh, yeah. Very fun.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_04] Okay. And then here with us, uh, back to talk about it all. It's the Duke of deception. Please.
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_03] How are you? I'm good. I'm happy to be here with y'all for the finale. And, you know, for myself, Melissa and Taryn, Rob, we're excited to talk to the draft champion. You had both the final two. Did I? It's been a long time coming. I had both people in the final two.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_04] That. Wow. That's good. That's good.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_07] Don't do that. Has anybody ever done that before?
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_03] Oh, yeah. Yeah. BB 23. Wow. Rob, we've been there. But not in five years.
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01] So it doesn't count, honestly. Wow. Apparently not.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_05] So I really, Rob, for all the coin talk, I feel like, uh, the two of us flipped a coin. I chose D instead of Devon's. Uh, obviously we were going to choose one of the two. I thought, I thought she was going to be better at comps than Devon's.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. Uh, well, listen, uh, I think that we could unpack a lot of things. I think that's a lot from the draft. I feel like that's not what people are here to hear us talk about right now. Are you sure? Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00] Pretty exciting.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. Uh, but, uh, you know, it was a big surprise ultimately, I guess, or maybe if you not a big surprise, if you listen to Taran's last live feed update from today of Rick getting the very compelling case from Taylor to ultimately make the decision to cut Drew in the final two.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_04] It worked perfectly from Rick's perspective of sending Drew to the jury, knowing that that would be that person who would be, uh, another vote for him. I'm not sure if he realized that he would have six votes up against Taylor, but, um, it was the most emotional moment. I think of, uh, the finale for sure. And one, I think we'll remember. So a lot to talk about there. Taryn, let me go to you first.
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_04] Uh, what's, what's your thoughts tonight?
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_05] I mean, I thought this was a phenomenal finale. I mean, the emotion of cutting drew the passion in the answering of questions, the way that so many things were paid off also, uh, the way that like drew had practiced his final two speech. He ends up sort of like blurting some of it out to Julie, uh, on his way out of the game, uh, that, you know, he, he talks to devins. He's I'm not just, I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed. It was a great line. What a callback.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00] That was great.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_05] Um, the, again, the emotion of that decision, the fact that Taylor manages to convince devins at the last minute to take her instead of drew, uh, you know, people talk about like playing a game for second place, but like she genuinely played a very good game. So I can play his game to, she, she earned that second place spot by talking devins into it. Um, and so, uh, just a very, very good stuff overall. And I thought it was like for a finale, pretty decently paced.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_05] I will say for what I'm used to. Yeah. Um, Melissa, how about for you?
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. I mean, I feel like this was a great result. I feel like it's, uh, it represents the season. I think very well. I think that Taylor making that last minute move to convince devins to take her. That is so impressive. I can't believe that that worked that she thought to do that. I mean, it was, I mean, I thought for sure devins was taking drew. I thought that there was no way.
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_01] And the way that she convinced him to take her was just, I mean, that's stunning. So she did a great job. I felt so emotional for drew. Um, I felt, I mean, I just, my heart broke and devins though. Like, I mean, when his kids were crying and hugging him, I teared up. It was just such an emotional finale all around and just such a fun, fun end of the season for sure.
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. And for you, Pooja.
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_03] Um, I thought, okay. Most of the night was fun. Um, I do think though, some of the pacing and we can talk about this a little more. Once we unpack some of the pacing, I wasn't happy about. Um, I do agree and echo what Melissa said. Taylor's move of getting like literally drew his move at the final four was to guarantee himself a seat in the final two. He was not in the final two. That's incredible that Taylor was able to take that. I think from there on this, the result was a little bit foregone.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03] The final two felt a little bit lopsided. The questioning felt very much similar as well. Yeah. But I think that it was ultimately a fun time.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. Um, what a great job by Rick. There really was only one point when his fate was not in his hands in the season. He wins the blockbuster twice. He wins the veto during the, uh, double eviction to save himself. And then it was one week ago tonight. We sat there and it was another last minute decision where the vote was going to be against him.
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_04] He convinces drew to keep him for one more round. So ultimately in drew's mind, maybe he would be the one evicting Rick devins on finale night. And Rick saves his game wins the game. Um, really that in that moment of getting drew to evict D over him.
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_04] And I'm just so proud of Rick devins for pulling this off to have gotten so close on survivor, both in the edge of extinction and not as close in season 50, but to make a deep run in season 50. And this is a person who don't forget was once upon a time evicted or I'm sorry. I'm getting my, uh, streams crossed voted out of the game on, I think day 11 of season 38.
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_04] Now, right. Yeah. The first person at the first person out of his tribe. Yeah. Or, uh, or I'm sorry. I have to, I, it was, it was, I don't want to get, uh, I'm getting all the stories, uh, crossed up, um, to, to be a winner tonight though, a reality TV winner, Rick devins. And I, I'm just, uh, so proud of what he was able to do and that the high that he is on right now. I don't think he's ever coming down.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_01] It obviously survivor was not his game, but big brother is his game.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_05] I mean, this was, he didn't pick a side, Melissa.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. I was like, okay. All right. But yeah, I feel like, and he did a similar thing where he answered the question, which was who did you, whose game did you control the most? Or who did you feel like you controlled the most in the house? And like the obvious answer is drew. But if he said drew, that would probably make drew be like, okay, no, I had my own game. I did my own thing. And instead of picking anyone else in the jury, you pick people outside of the jury
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01] of like, oh yeah, no, I, I controlled these other people. None of you guys. So I felt like that was such, just such a great answer. I mean, he had great answers all around.
[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_04] He's going to give you great answers. You're not going to cross him up with jury questioning or anything. He's going to be prepared. And in a spot like that, Julie's not going to get him to disparage a survivor where he knows that it's very possible. You know, he may well be playing survivor again one day.
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. I like that you bring up the final four because because I am very happy that the final four played out the way that it did with a Devins win where like, I always want at least one of those moments for my winner of the show. Right. Like I love in Kageon that Tony has to convince Wu, you know, he doesn't have an idol. He doesn't have immunity. He has to get that one moment.
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_05] It really like seals the victory in right. And the fact that Devins did have that moment of vulnerability and did have to not only talk his way through it, but had to compete against D his partner in the game who up to that point had always had more influence, had always been the person who had been able to survive more than Drew than Devins. He had to out maneuver her in order to survive to that final three where he then goes on to win.
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_05] I think that it's, it's a very sort of poetic ending to their journey as, as he goes on to win this game.
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_04] And to make one other comparison to Tony, who, in addition to getting Wu to take him to the end, he also cut his other closest ally, Trish at the final five to send her to the jury to go and vote for him. And so that was also another thing where he knew he could send Drew. He could burn Drew as bad as he did and know that Drew is still going to vote for him in that final two.
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah, that was, I do.
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_03] I do think winning, if you're about to win, you might as well bestow your first fate upon your son. Now, Drew has the exact, at the doors of victory, the doors get shut on him. He gets to have. Drew.
[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_04] Listen, this was a tough night for Drew. Drew is going to be fine. Drew is go. He's going to get over this. I'm telling you, he's going to be on a tick tock live, uh, doing like playing again with like dollars on his head by the end of the night. He'll be in a Jubilee video tomorrow. The Drew is going to, he's going to be great. He's going to be on four more reality shows by the end of the year. Okay.
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01] I will say that by the end, I was hoping that he would get America's favorite player because I felt like then everybody in the night would get something. But you know, like it's fun for Devins to win, but I do always like spreading the wealth a little bit and not giving so much to one person instead kind of like, but yeah.
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_05] If you're Devins, I, you, you kind of slide the Pharaoh's curse money over to Drew.
[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_07] Oh, for sure.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah, I'm sure. You could buy him something.
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_04] Turns out I didn't need this. Yeah. Yeah. I think you'd get him like a nice, a gift. I think so.
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_03] I, I think it serves a valuable life lesson if he keeps all the money and doesn't give Drew any of it.
[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01] I do think at this point, I think it is good for the future of the show to show that like just being loyal to your alliance or to a person or whatever, like you could get burned. Like you need to be looking out for yourself because I feel like if Drew ends up winning it or if Devins takes him to the final two, it's like a Derek Cody thing where for a while after that, it was, we were an alliance together the whole time. The hit men, we never would have betrayed each other. I wouldn't matter if I won or not. I wouldn't betray you.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_01] Like to me, that is not a good lesson to learn. So this is honestly much better for the future of the show, but certainly sad for Drew.
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_04] Certainly sad for Drew. Mari in the chat says maybe a Birkin for Drew. Yeah.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_03] I listen to Drew needs a Birkin. It's funny.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_04] Devins, if you're listening, I know a guy who can help you get one.
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_05] I just, I always, any finale that has a brutal final like vote out is, is a good one in my books. Like I think that Cody cutting Nicole is one of the best parts of an otherwise pretty lackluster all-star season. Uh, I think people will remember this moment cause it hits you deeply. It doesn't really matter how you feel about Drew as a player. Uh, like you feel what that must feel like.
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_05] Cause anybody can put themselves in that position. He thought he was going there with his dad and his dad said, I'm sorry. Yeah.
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah.
[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_00] It was very, I think, very emotional.
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_03] I think that obviously every person who gets cut at the final three is, is hurting a little bit in that moment tonight though. This might've been the closest. I think I've felt to watching the survivor re live reunion that we get nowadays on the, in the new era of survivor where there's like people hurting before the commercial. No, not, not in that way. Not that kind of live reunion, but like, I mean, I mean reunion right after the vote and you're
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_03] seeing three people, two of them are devastated and everyone around them is laughing, eating pizza. That's how it felt tonight watching drew because he was sad, right? Make no mistake again. This man thought I'm guaranteed at least 75 grand. He got none of that. He now sits there and then, and then what happens? One of his closest allies immediately goes, Yup. He lied to you. Didn't he like Barrett rubbing it in the world? I know. Oh, that was chilling.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01] That was chilling. I know. I, when he said that, I was like, Oh, you don't need to, you don't need, he's already sad. Like please. Oh, that was rough.
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_04] Oh yeah. Uh, so he said that to him and then I thought that, that Julie was, it was interesting that she weighed in on it also. I have the, the, the clip of that. Uh, if I can, if I can bring it up, uh, what she said was that I thought this was so interesting. She did it this way. She said, Barrett just said he lied to you, bro.
[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_06] This is big brother. You can bounce checks in the big brother house. You sure can. Don't hate the game. All right. I mean, don't hate the player.
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_04] But, um, I do think that was a little bit unusual that she was like, Oh, Hey, he's allowed to lie. Um, I think that Julie should probably like, you know, stay out of it.
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_05] Julie's been doing a lot of, uh, like, uh, running, running defense for some. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_01] So I do feel like, uh, like in any normal situation, I'd be like, Oh, it's fine. Cause like, yeah, that's fun and add to it. But it's like that he's about to vote. And so being told like, Oh, it's fine. Like you're lying in big brother. That's part of the game. Like is influential to someone who's about to vote potentially.
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_05] And literally later on, she's like, uh, when, like when he goes to cast his vote and I granted it happens right after he casts the vote, but she's like, well, we'll see about that after we see what you voted.
[00:16:30] Yeah.
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_03] What happened to Julie saying? I can neither confirm nor deny. Like we're just throwing out the window at this point. We're just putting our thumbs on scale.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_01] He's too excited for a potential Rick Devins win.
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah.
[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_01] Um, I feel like, so I think that Taylor's speeches. I think that Taylor's speeches were very well rehearsed and well done. I think the problem was when she talked about things that she didn't necessarily have control over as being moves that she made. And I think that the people, you could see the reactions of the people in the jury. They were kind of just like, what? No. And like looking at each other and shaking their heads.
[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_01] And that is not the response you want when you're telling about your biggest move or your most influential move. And I feel like a lot of her, um, a lot of her speech was about how she like came from the bottom, like in the, in the, um, in the game and she didn't really have anyone. And now look at her. She's here. I feel like she should have been like, let my most influential move was being here tonight and making sure Devin's picked me.
[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_01] I convinced him to pick me over his closest ally. Like, I think that's her biggest move.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_04] She didn't actually even bring that up. Rick Devin's was the only one who mentioned that in the. Yeah. And why did he do that?
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01] He shouldn't have brought that up. He should have just been like, yeah, I'm sorry. I felt like I could beat Taylor. Like that makes him look worse and her look better. But I guess to drew, it might make him look nicer. I don't know, but man.
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. Well, I think that what Rick was doing and he did this twice. I felt like that what Rick, um, the reason why he mentioned it, uh, both in the house and then on the jury was he really wanted to try to like, I think this was to win drew's vote of like, Hey, she said she wasn't going to vote for me. And she was also going to flip Lala's vote. And it was, it was a, it was a good move, but I, my hands were tied. What was I going to do?
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_04] And I think that Rick really wanted to show drew of like, well, you know, she had a gun to my head in like proverbially of like, I, I was going to lose two votes if I ultimately didn't go to the end. So I think he really was trying to, uh, put the onus on it. It's Taylor's fault. Why I had to do this to you.
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. I think that's exactly what it was. Uh, I think that's why he brought it up. But I do think like, I do think it was like a mistake. And as much as anything is a mistake when you're already, when it doesn't cost him any votes.
[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah.
[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_05] I mean like the thing, the thing about this is that like, whether or not he needed it, Devins did a really, really good jury management. Uh, one of my favorite tools that not enough people use is using an ally to go and help you in the jury. D and Devins agreed ahead of time that if D went to the jury house, uh, which she didn't she went to the round table, which is enough. Uh, she was going to give him credit for everything they did together. We see him subtly imply this when he says that they, he had advantages that he found very clever ways to use.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_05] Um, though notably he didn't outright say that it was his idea because I wouldn't, I'd be like, what if D didn't say that? Um, but he implied it if she did so that he would get credit for it. Um, and then another thing, and this was a huge mistake I think that Taylor made is that Taylor told Devins ahead of time what she planned to say her biggest move was in her jury speech. Uh, and there were many people that thought, well, she must be lying.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_05] Like she's not going to tell him the truth about what she's actually going to say. It turns out it was the truth. She had said to Devins that she planned to take credit for the lyric flip and Devins knew that she didn't plan the lyric flip. He told D before she went to the jury house, she's going to try to say this. So like we prep the jury for it. And so as soon as she brings it up, that's when you see Maladie's head turn Angela go. Uh, and it was just like, Oh, like that was all like, that was all the confirmation.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_05] They needed. Not that again, any of it really mattered, but like that was definitely a rough point for Taylor there.
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_04] How much of her speech had she rehearsed or jury questions had she rehearsed before Rick Devins actually took her up on what would have been her biggest move? Did she prepare her answers before the thing that would have been the better answer happened?
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_05] Yes. Um, I, most of what she said are bits and pieces that I was able to piece together watching her over the last few days. Uh, the, just to be clear, if you didn't watch this morning's update, first of all, shame on you. It was the final one. Yeah.
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_04] Stop coasting listeners.
[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. Stop coasting play all the way to the end. Second. We haven't properly explained this, which is the yes, Taylor and Devins had a conversation. It was Taylor approached Devins. She said, because Devins had approached Taylor before saying, if you don't take me, I'm going to go to the jury and I'm going to make sure that D and Angela don't vote for you. You'll lose to drew. She was like, how dare you threaten me? But then days later realized he's thinking in this way. I can spin this around on him. She went to him and she said, same reason you think I should take you.
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_05] You need to take me because if I go to the jury and I make sure Lala doesn't vote for you. And she didn't actually say it in this way, which is again, I think why part of why like Devins like, Oh, like she got me to do this. Um, but if I do that and then drew also has melody and Barrett you're done. Um, and that convinces Devins. He needs to cut drew and take Taylor. A lot of that can be in firm inferred by like the, uh, the thing that Devins explained. Um, but it happened like literally last night.
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_05] They assumed we had a conversation at some point today after the feeds went down, uh, where she apparently did fully agree to take him as well. She told him she would have after the decision was made, who knows how true that is. Um, but, uh, but that's why Devins makes that decision. And, uh, and yeah, I feel like if she had pivoted to say, I just played this man and got
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_05] him to cut his baby boy son, uh, to take me to this position, um, that would have been something right. Uh, and I feel like instead what she did was like, Drew. Drew, aren't you pissed?
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_04] She's like, uh, she literally said, uh, drew just remember that he just betrayed you, man. Give me that boat. She said, she was like, wow, the direct approach.
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. But yeah, no bottom line is that yes, she had prepared, uh, all pretty much all of her speech. Devins as well had prepared everything that he has said, uh, ahead of time.
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_04] Taryn, do you feel like that there were any votes that were actually in play for Taylor against Rick that she, uh, ultimately lost?
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_05] I doubt it. I doubt it. Um, I think that, uh, you know, I think that Yash was probably the next closest. Mm-hmm. Um, but I don't think it, I mean, I don't think it was happening. Right. I don't think where it was happening. Melody certainly didn't seem like it was happening. Uh, so, um, yeah, I just don't think so.
[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah. Um, I mentioned at the start that I had a bit of a critique on the pacing of the episode, but I have a different critique on a different thing. And I promise I'm not like trying to be like the gloomy Gus. I'm actually having a good time, but I am going to be critical when I need to be. Six days, y'all from part two to part three, there were six days of, of them in the house. I feel like we needed to, this may not be a thing. We did not need the six days.
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_03] And I feel like the show tonight confirmed. They didn't care about those six days. Cause we didn't see one shred and mind you, this happened on the feeds. Like this flip happened on the show. They did not even bother showing us this. Julie mentioned it. And Julie said, maybe, and then just moved us on. Like that was all we got. Um, so this and a myriad of other things that I feel like we didn't get enough time on, but I just feel like we didn't need the six days. And then one good thing happened in those six days.
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_03] And we didn't even bother to like, look at it under the hood, even for like a second.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_04] I saw in the chat, somebody said that the VMAs cost drew $75,000. Cause otherwise the finale would have probably been Sunday.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_03] Um, so he would have probably been in that final two chair. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_05] But I don't think it's changed the outcome. There's a world where Devins doesn't win part three. Yeah. If the, if the competition is earlier.
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01] That's what I'd be very curious about is well, first of all, yes, but I would love to hear from the jury who they would vote for if it was drew versus Taylor. Like I would be very interested on what that outcome. Cause I feel like we all were like, okay, if Devins is in the end, he wins. Like no matter who he's against, I truly believed that he would win no matter what. But, but I was totally torn on who would win between Taylor and drew.
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_04] So I came into the finale thinking that Taylor might have a good shot to beat drew, but based off of how it played out tonight that I do think that drew would have gotten, uh, would have gotten the votes over Taylor.
[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_04] I think that, uh, he certainly still had, he would have had, uh, D Angela melody and then Devins if it's, uh, so it seemed like that was the main thing.
[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_05] He only ever needed the icons plus melody. Uh, melody seemed pretty locked in. Angela seemed pretty locked in. So I think it probably would have gone to drew there as, as expected.
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_04] Let's talk about that. Um, final, uh, part three of the HOH, because I actually was surprised that it was, um, ultimately Rick did not get a question wrong. Taylor missed on two questions, which ultimately ended the competition sooner. And I have to say myself who is, you know, certainly has not been studying. I think I got almost every single question, right? Like I did not think that final. Well, of course I'm Taryn.
[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_04] I believe I would say to you.
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01] I didn't get a single one. I was like so confused by the question. But I didn't think it was that hard. And I wouldn't have gotten a single one right. I mean, I don't know anything. I, I literally was like, I w I wouldn't know the answers to these. I don't know the answers to these now. I probably wouldn't know the answers to these now. I don't know. I didn't, I mean, are they studying things like when was the last costume given out? Like, is that something that they are actively thinking about?
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_05] Well, the trick is that like some of them are pretty difficult. Like was Kamu the 11th person to fall on the wall? Like, do you really know that? I certainly don't. Yeah. But if you look at the other two, it's like, okay, well, I do know that this one is definitely true. Right. Or maybe I do know that this one's definitely false. So I don't need to know all three facts.
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_04] The first question was not even a study question of that, that the, the aerobics question or the aerobics competition. Did it take place in the seventies was the false answer. It's like, you can ask somebody who didn't watch the show.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01] You would know the seventies, yeah.
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_04] Did they do aerobics videos in the seventies?
[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_05] That's so funny, Rob. Cause that's not how I got to that answer. I, I looked at the other two for that one. Cause I didn't even think about that.
[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_03] I defaulted.
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. It crossed my mind. Yeah. It was the theming of the contest. Um, but yeah, it's obvious when you think about it, but like that, I think that's the point is that like, you don't always think about it in the obvious way, especially when you have that much pressure.
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_04] Maybe that question was unfair because Rick Devins as a, a, uh, older person, uh, lived through the eighties and Taylor wasn't. So maybe that's the one you'd say was not fair, but the one that I thought that Taylor should have gotten was, uh, that there was a question about Yash won the first three veto competitions. Uh, she was on the block with Yash in the first veto competition.
[00:28:33] Mm.
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah.
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_04] At the, um, and was also in the blockbuster with Yash in the first, the first week. And that was a question that she got wrong.
[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. I mean, I mean, we've seen this happen before. I, I like I watched her study. She knew her stuff. She knew how many competitions each person won that, you know, who won each competition, but she clearly like wasn't able to cycle through that information quick enough. And I think that what sometimes happens is you just get a little nervous. Yeah. Uh, you don't have time to think it through. And as soon as you get one wrong, you start to just like really crumble under the pressure.
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_05] That was Morgan last year. Right? Yeah. Uh, and it's tough because I noticed too, as I was trying to answer the questions, one of them came up, I don't remember which might've been Barrett's. And like each statement was really short and it went through really quickly. And I was like, stop, I need time to think. Uh, and you know, I think that's really all it is. Like you can usually answer the questions as long as you have enough time to think it through. So, uh, so that's where studying does help.
[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_05] If you know your stuff, you can think through this, the things faster. But at the end of the day, I think it's, it's maybe a major factor we have to consider is like, how cool are you under pressure for part three? Um, a stat that I had talked about earlier in the week is that the winner of part three has been the person who has won more competitions over the course of the season every single time, except with one exception, which was last year when Ashley beat Morgan.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_05] Morgan had one more comps than Ashley and Ashley still managed to beat her in part three. But this follows that trend since big brother 20, at least, uh, when they started doing it this way, that every single winner of part three had won more competitions than their opponent. Um, and I think that it just goes to show that number one, that person is probably one, a lot of competitions that deal with a lot of these kinds of things. And number two, that person is used to winning. They're confident and they are cool under pressure. Yeah.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_05] And I think that those things combined make a pretty lopsided result ultimately statistically. Yeah.
[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_04] I was a little worried about Rick that last week, um, when we saw the final four veto and it was a day's competition, he talked about, sometimes I get in these competitions. I get like, I get myself a little too hyped up and I, he, that's what he blamed it on when he lost in the final four veto. But yeah, I don't know. Yeah. Maybe these live competitions, it seems like that he's very locked in on these Thursday night comps. He has been.
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. I mean, that's the thing. It's, it's like, uh, you know, we've, we've watched him. I've watched him on these feeds that fire loss in edge of extinction has haunted him. Sure. Being that close to a million dollars and losing at fire. Uh, we one competition away from winning that game and that can either paralyze you or it can really lock you in. Like I'm never letting that happen again.
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_05] I'm going to be so focused. Uh, and clearly for Devins, he has been able to be really focused in those moments that he has had a lot of do or die, uh, moments this season. And every single one he's managed to come through. And that's why he ended up winning.
[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_03] I think there was a, it was a tale of two stories happening here at the final three. One Devins has been mayor of clutch town the entire way through. And this kind of prove that even more, I think you could see the minute Taylor. Like bets against the initial pick she had for the second question. She had a B. I think she flips for an a the answer was B Devins gets it right. She gets it wrong from there on.
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_03] She was mentally derailed from the entire competition. I think the combination of going like, well, now I'm one down against literally the guy who can't lose these competitions. I got to make that up and hope he messes up. And I don't think she could recover from there. I think the pressure was on a little too much at that point. And I think for Devins, he was just in flow state. So it was tough to overcome. It was his night.
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_04] Nothing was going to deter him. Mm hmm.
[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_01] I do want to say that like the costumes this season have been so amazing. I've loved them so much. And I mean, this this old age costume stuff like I mean, everyone was unrecognizable. Yash. I didn't recognize him at all. I was like, who is this guy? Who's this man? And then he started speaking and I was like, oh, my God, I couldn't believe how well the costuming did on them.
[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah, this was great.
[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01] Amazing.
[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_04] And I saw these tick tocks of like, oh, boy, this is what they do for fun at the jury house. It never occurred to me that this was going to be the theming of this final of this final part of the H.O.H. comp. And I was trying to figure out, like, what is this background behind them? They're on a golf course. And I was like, oh, they're in the nursing home.
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01] They're in the retirement community. That's so funny. I mean, I was like, I cannot believe they're doing this right now when they each came on. But it was the costuming.
[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah, the I think it was the melody question where Barrett was in the background wheeling behind her. Yeah, was I think my favorite bit. Also very distracting.
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_04] It's Aaron. Then the thing that maybe the meanest thing of the whole season was that in the melody question, she started with this.
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_00] Well, Zingbot was right. Drew did die alone.
[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_01] Oh, sorry, Selena. Sorry. Sorry. I love the reveals that they did in the finale with Selena as titties. And then, you know, the Mallory.
[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_04] Selena, please just we call her Selena.
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_01] Oh, sorry, Selena. Sorry.
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_04] But that was Julie has rebranded.
[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. Okay. Sorry. Selena. I love that they did that because I felt and we had talked about this that like it was kind of unfair to be like, oh, these are these reality TV icons. And yet she's been on for two seasons, like an all star season. That's pretty impressive. And then you don't mention it whatsoever and don't say that they're an icon or whatever. And so I did feel like Jason finally got his flowers. And so I feel like that was very fun.
[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I think for me, I always thought Jason had the option to be like, hey, let me let me get on this icon train and also add my credentials. And I think it would have been welcoming. I have another critique to make. This is my my segue into that. No, this was my favorite moment of the of the show. The finale, the reveals getting to talk to the jurors, getting to have the reactions of the jurors, the pre jurors. This would have been so much fun if it wasn't 95 seconds.
[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, I feel like it was quick.
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_04] It was too long, Pouya. It was too long because we got that. Okay, we have. Okay, let's go to Rome and we've been hearing Rome has an announcement. Rome, there's an announcement.
[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_06] Hold up. Oh my gosh. Settle down.
[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_02] As as exciting as it would be, Julie, I'm not going to propose to her tonight. Why not? But I will say that we are madly in love and we are working on potentially moving in together soon.
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_06] We're moving in together? Terry, this is like some-
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_04] Working on potentially. This is some love island. Potentially. But like, oh, we're in a situation ship now.
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_01] You're working on potentially moving in together. We're moving together.
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_04] That's what the show is.
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_03] You know what? I'm working on potentially making a million dollars in my lifetime. Like, that is nothing. What the hell?
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_00] So funny. Yeah.
[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_03] I mean, it's the most big brother thing. They have like 40 seconds to give to the pre jurors. Like, all right, we have this reveal for Selena and then we're going to go to Rome because that's what needs to happen. We need to talk to Rome. Not the three pre jurors that just got dumped on by the winner for saying that, you know, we, he controlled our games. Like, you don't get anything to them.
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_04] This would have been like, Ashley has an announcement. Guys, I've eaten another hamburger.
[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. I feel like, okay. Yes. I do think that they should have taken, I mean, and that's the thing. We say this every single time. It's like, we want more time with the reunion. We want more time with people talking and confronting each other. We want more time for the questions. We want pre taped questions. Yeah. So that we can already have, we can have a discussion instead of just like two seconds of a random question that's randomly assigned to a juror.
[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_04] No, this was honestly like when we heard, we heard from Rome about his announcement. Like, did we need to hear from like Chuck or Camu or Haley? Like they were like, we do not want to hear from these people at all.
[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_05] No, I, I'm, I agree. Like, I mean, I, I have a major issue with the pacing in general for finales. I obviously have always been advocating to bring back pre taped jury round table questions, uh, and everything. Um, but with the format that they do have the one that we actually have to live with, uh, I, I personally don't want more time with like, I never care about it.
[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_05] When I watched the finale and they've cast their votes, I don't care about a thing they say after that. I'm just waiting for the vote reveal. Like, I'm just like, when are we getting to the, the, the thing that we're here for? Yes, we should have a reunion afterward. That would be great. But like, I think where they slotted in is stupid. So the faster they get through it, the better. My opinion.
[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. It would be much better if they revealed the winner and then had people like talk about it, you know, that would be way more fun. But I guess like that kind of ends on a, like a flat note. Cause you're not like coming out to confetti and then ending the show, but you could still do America's favorite player and be like, yay. Okay. Goodbye. Everyone love one another or whatever.
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_03] I'm just a sucker for, and this maybe just speaks to my living on the internet. I'm a sucker for react content. I love when they give the jurors things to react to that. They have no ideas happened. So on the show that, you know, I love that.
[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_01] They watch little videos of it.
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah. I love that. So for me, I would love to see stuff like that. I think obviously a reunion goes without saying would be very fun. A little back and forth would be fun. But I think that when they have like four questions to ask and then they blow one on Rome, which by the way, no offense to her. Maybe all offense from. I've been decided. Offense. Literally has a career that she's been hiding behind. Like she's got this lawyer thing that doesn't come up. They told the jurors they had an announcement and they wasted it on. We're moving in together.
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_03] If they're moving to Hawaii, Lyric should have been the one to say the announcement. If they're moving to Hawaii, it should have been Lyric's news, not Rome's. I feel like there's no way they're not moving to Hawaii. Right? Like, right. The whole identity was Hawaii. Right. Which like, let Lyric announce it then. Why does Rome get to do it? She outlasted him.
[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_04] I don't know. What are we doing? I did think it was one of the best parts of Rick's final questioning where that he was asked the question about who did you have the most control over? I'm trying to remember. Was that Yasha's question from the from the finalists? And Rick says, I know you all think you're I'm going to say Drew, but it actually was actually it was was it the red corner?
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah.
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_04] I remember who Melody asked him the question. Yeah. And he says, no, the people that I actually had the most influence over was the was the red corner that Haley, Chuck and Kamu, which was true that they would talk about how dumb they were and how easily they were to influence earlier on in the game. And it was such a great question because it was such a great answer. They weren't on the jury. So it's like, yeah, there were these three dummies that were earlier on in the game that didn't even make the jury. That's who I could control.
[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. I mean, not only that, but like it's a way to it's a way to get extra credit because like because they all expect him to say Drew, he doesn't need to say Drew. He doesn't need to say I had control over Drew because they'll know he had control over Drew. Uh, so by saying, I know you all expect me to say Drew, but actually let me say another one that you didn't expect me to say. I also had control over the, all these other people, uh, and also was able to show his
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_05] humanity and how bad he felt for cutting drew, which again showed that he was able to use drew.
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_07] Yeah.
[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_04] It was the best collaborator. And by the way, we did do the lyric flip also.
[00:41:18] Mm hmm.
[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_04] So that was a good moment.
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_01] Great answers.
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah.
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01] Honestly, he did a great job with the questioning and everything. And like the one thing I would say I didn't like was when he talked about how actually being an icon was a disadvantage. I feel like the only people who were like, yeah, we're the two icons sitting on the jury. Like, obviously they're going to say that. So I feel like it's yeah, I didn't like that one.
[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_03] It's he has to do that though, because like, what are you going to say? No, I did come in with an advantage. I had safety over all of it. Like he has to like try and polish it to make it better for him. So I understood the logic there. But I agree with you. You have plenty of other things to talk about. Extremely bold to use this as a strat.
[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_05] But I think his best line was that like you guys, you had an opportunity to take me out. Like you had opportunities that you didn't take. Right. Which there's a very clear example of that that happened very recently at the final four, where drew did not take the opportunity that he had to take out Devins. And it's such a like kind of like table clearing way of looking at it. Like, yeah, maybe there were advantages. There were also some disadvantages.
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_05] You guys target like half of you put us up the first time chance you got. But you didn't take the opportunities that you had when you had them. And now I'm here. Like, who can you really blame me for this? Right. Like, and you know, it doesn't negate the argument, but it does help sort of clear it off the table. Like I said.
[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_01] Also, I thought it was funny how like they there was like the mystery roundtable host.
[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_07] Yes.
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01] And it was like, oh, she's played the game. But but but like it ended up being I mean, like I love Chelsea, but she's on the like Friday night one all the time. Like, why is that so special? I thought it was gonna be someone who like we haven't seen in a long time or something. I don't know.
[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_04] I think there was some talk. It was going to be Dan and then they pivoted like Rick Devins many times.
[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_01] Hmm. OK, well, that would make sense to me why they didn't announce it. But that would have been very fun to see Dan do it.
[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_05] I was like, doesn't this like the segment is so short now?
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_04] It really was. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I don't ever remember it being and maybe I'm misremembering from the past. I feel like that when they first started doing it, if I if I have this right, Taryn, it was Big Brother 15. And it was like, oh, finally, we're bringing in Dr. Will and he's gonna he's gonna be on their ass. And then it was going to be about, oh, he's really going to give it to the jury.
[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_04] But this was like this very collegial from everybody. There seems to be very little disagreement among the actual jurors.
[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_05] It's I mean, it's very ceremonial now, like the whole like at least when it comes to how it's shown in the edit. They can talk for hours sometimes and we get a couple minutes of it specifically designed to try to slightly mislead us. I thought it was very obvious in this segment. The Taylor segment was all people saying like, well, what what's a positive thing you can say about Taylor? Mm hmm. And then all of those things. And then what is the negative thing we could say about Devins?
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_05] And then all of those things. And it was like, oh, you never know. Devins might lose because they're talking about icons having advantages. But very clearly, they all went in there planning to vote for Devins. And so what we see is just not an accurate representation of anything, nor an entertaining representation of anything. And it just feels like the entire process is useless at this point.
[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_01] Well, because I mean, yeah, it's like they obviously edit it so that it's like anyone could have a chance. But that obviously takes away any sort of entertainment there is like it keeps the the suspense because now we don't know who even like whoever gets there. We don't know who's going to win. But it takes away the entertainment of the jury roundtable, because the whole idea of the jury roundtable is you want to like hear what they're actually thinking and where they're leaning. I mean, I feel like you can still kind of get it because like the praise that they give to some people is like not as intense as the praise they give to other people.
[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_01] But still, it's like they want to make it seem like everyone's still fair game. Anyone could win this.
[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_04] Is the issue. Do we need more Delulu jurors? Is that how we make this segment exciting again?
[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_05] I don't even know if that would. I don't know if it would make the cut that they like the way they write. They schedule their finales. They don't have time for it. Yeah, like because we we are here for three three competitions in a 90 minute episode plus the decision plus the vote plus all of the other stuff like everything is tightly scheduled to fit in a certain package.
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_04] But I feel like when it was good, it was like you need like Raven in there being like, oh, I should have won.
[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_03] I think I think that didn't happen at the roundtable though, right? That happened in the roundtable.
[00:46:15] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah, she was talking about being the puppet master.
[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah, she definitely did make a whole stink of it at the roundtable. I just feel like I think that if Raven was on this jury, we would have gotten probably none of that or very little of it. Honestly, I think that they just edit it differently now. And because it's all just such it's all on my buddy, buddy.
[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_03] Well, Chelsea said on Ramble tonight, chat BCC. She said this went for three hours and she said a lot went down and like we got none of it. We got that's exactly right. So I agree with Taryn. I think if there even was fireworks, they're like, you got fireworks in the last episode. Come on.
[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_05] It's I don't think they care at this point. It's just like, sure, there's like whatever. But like that would be, you know, we'd have to figure out a way to fit it into our prearranged schedule. That's all has to fit into this live episode.
[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah, I think I think once they get once they get the like little clip that's like, you know, Devins could really get this. I think he played a great game. And then another clip saying, I don't know, though, I don't think Devins can win this thing. Then you got your two clips and then you get your two clips for the next person. Then you get your two clips for the next person. Then you're done. Like, that's all they need. Right.
[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_04] Is the issue where it's like, OK, let's say I don't even know what they're arguing about. They're arguing about like Drew sucks. Drew's like, oh, like Drew didn't do anything in the game. And they're arguing about that. And then it's like if Drew wins the game, then it's like, boy, this looks really bad for the person who won the show that we just like crapped on him all through the jury roundtable.
[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_05] Well, no, I mean, that's what they did with with the Devins thing. Right. Like, oh, he had advantages. We should. But then when you see them vote for him, it's obviously, oh, we were being misled or like, oh, it didn't matter that he added the end. He still played better. Like, I don't think they're too concerned about that. I think it's really I just think it's a timing thing. I think they just don't feel like they've they care enough about it.
[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_04] Mm hmm. We did get part one and part two of the competition. Also in the finale in part one, we had the endurance comp and Drew had wanted Rick Devins to throw part one of the H. We did. But ultimately, it was Drew who went out first and referred to him as you're looking at the mayor of choke city, which I guess is kind of fitting for how this final four ends up playing out.
[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_07] Mm hmm.
[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah, that was very hard. That looks like a very hard competition. They were like shocking them and stuff. That was intense. So I could see why you fell off. But yeah, that's it.
[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_04] So they really shocking them. I feel like that.
[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_01] Well, I mean, obviously, that animation was not real, but I feel like they must have been doing some sort of like electric thing. Right. Or are they just saying that?
[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_05] I don't know because they were they were reacting in sync in the footage to something. So clearly something was happening. Some sort of like vibrating thing.
[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_01] That's like dangerous. I know. No, no, no.
[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_05] It's just a tiny little amount is that they're going to be fine. Mm hmm.
[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_03] Sure. OK, if we're going to be here six days, can we make the part one be something that could go hours like just a little hours? A couple like four hours.
[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_00] No, why not?
[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_05] They don't have time for it in the finale for it to go hours. It could go hours. They still cut it to five minutes. They give us the same footage for sure.
[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah, this is me. Yeah, this is me Thomas. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:49:40] [SPEAKER_01] Um, but it's funny that it didn't even matter that like D went out because she wouldn't agree to throw that competition. I mean, obviously, there's other reasons, but like the reason one of the big reasons D went out is she wouldn't agree to throw that to drew and then it didn't even matter. Like didn't even matter.
[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_04] Mm hmm.
[00:50:01] [SPEAKER_01] He just got right out.
[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. And ultimately, he was pretty close neck and neck with Devins most of the time. But this is like such a Devins comp. He it was mostly just about aiming a slingshot, which is something that I've probably literally done on Survivor before. Yeah.
[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_04] Um, so one and it seemed like that, uh, Rick ultimately got the hang of it. And I don't know if this was a mayor of choke city situation, but then, uh, drew then lost three in a row straight to Rick.
[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. Uh, at which point, like, I think, especially once Devins wins part three and Taylor doesn't even perform that well in part three. And of course, when Devins cuts through, like we can very safely say now he definitely should have cut your Devins at the big mistake. Like that was definitely the move that lost the game.
[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. Yeah. And let's say I, I told you, I saw the vision a week ago. Oh, ultimately. Okay. Cut. I will cut D tonight. Cut Devins on finale night, but yeah, ultimately he wasn't going to be this. He wasn't going to beat Rick Devins. I can't believe I just lost to a 42 year old guy with a bad back.
[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_05] I mean, and like, I get it right. Like the logic always was, if I do this, I guarantee myself second place. But like, that is the lesson that big brother always teaches. And it's taught from the very, very start when, when, uh, Mike Boogie thought that he was guaranteeing that Nicole would go home by putting her up next to Cheryl. You can't guarantee things like that. And when you have the chance to put the power into your own hands, you need to take that chance.
[00:52:08] [SPEAKER_05] That is, that is the way that I have always sort of advocated in this game.
[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_04] And, um, as Ashley might say, that is what we call a game losing move is, is, is drew evicting Dev or D instead of Devins. If, if that's the move he makes, does he win big brother 28 tonight?
[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_05] We can't know. But we can guess. I think there's a pretty, I think his chances are certainly a lot higher. Uh, we can say that for sure. Um, I think he's almost guaranteed part three. And I think that if he's in part three against either D or Taylor Taylor getting three of five questions, right? Uh, D might've performed even worse. I think there's a very real chance he wins part three with or without studying. Uh, and, and he wins that game. I think.
[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_04] And we thought that his case against Taylor, he probably wins even not having won the final three, HOH and evicting Rick Devins at the final four. So I think in that scenario, he, he might pick up another couple of votes besides just the icons and melody.
[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_03] I think Drew's game will be a massive one for people to study for when they want to go on the show, because I think ultimately when all things are said and done, he went for, he went for guaranteed money. This final three to him looked like guaranteed money on the table, no matter what. And he went home with none of it. He went home where he was fearing ending up with, had he taken D and Taylor, he ended up at that same spot with Devins there. So I think, let it be a lesson. You always gotta like Terrence said, you gotta bet on yourself.
[00:53:42] [SPEAKER_03] You gotta take it into your own hands and then you gotta go for the win. Right. Because then if you lose, you at least went for the win.
[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_04] And let me say in Drew's defense. Okay. And I know that there's, there's a lot of Drew fans and I can understand why. Um, he got outplayed by somebody who's like twice his age. Uh, he's 22 years old. He did an incredible job, uh, to make it as far as he did to get to this point. And at the end of the day, you know, uh, he loves Rick.
[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_04] He's gotta tip his cap to Rick who kind of had him turned around and gas lit the entire season. And he made poor decisions in a few clutch moments, but he also won a lot of comps. He did a great job. He's going to be on a million more shows. So he has nothing to be, uh, you know, really like, uh, you know, beat himself up over in terms of, uh, his gameplay other than the decisions we've talked about, which cost him the game. But he did a good job.
[00:54:43] [SPEAKER_05] Well, I think the thing to like, the thing that I'm like thinking of thematically here is just how opposite Drew's game was to Devon's. They have a very similar trajectory, uh, where they both had to win a bunch of competitions in order to survive, to get themselves to the end. They were both very, very active players. Um, but Devon's, as he said in his speech, never missed an opportunity to make the boldest move possible.
[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_05] And Drew often took the safer route despite the sort of persona and everything. He stuck with what was safe and comfortable in the crossovers Alliance and the vets. He stuck with what he thought was a guaranteed at least second place. He stuck with, uh, the allies that he made from the beginning. He never ventured too far from home. Um, and that, that contrast is ultimately what wins Devon's the game and gets Drew third place.
[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_04] Right. And you know what? Rick Devon's had to lose the edge of extinction to learn that lesson. I mean, uh, 22 year old Rick Devon's probably isn't making those same decisions. Like Rick Devon's has had a lifetime of experience to prepare him for this moment.
[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_05] We talked about that. Like that is the exact decision that Devon's made. We talked about this at the final four where I was like, drew made the Devon's move at final, uh, at the final four of, uh, or final four or final five of survivor, where he gave Chris the idol because he thought that was the better sort of like strategic maneuver to guarantee him a better position. And then it cost him because then Chris ended up making the bold move, putting himself in fire and taking Devon's out of the game.
[00:56:21] [SPEAKER_05] And so Devon's comes in now ready to play the bolder game. And drew played that safer game and similarly lost in that. And maybe they will have a trajectory. Uh, maybe drew will have the trajectory of going on another show and learning that he needs to be bolder and he's he'll play a Devon's game. And maybe he has to flip a couple of Mr. Beast coins first, but maybe he'll get there.
[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_04] So Rick Devon's becomes, I believe the second oldest big brother winner of all time here at 42 years old. So congratulations to Rick on making that kind of history. What a year for Rick Devon's in that it was only about how many months ago was it that he had his run on survivor 50. The survivor 50 finale was in May. Uh, it's October 1st.
[00:57:13] [SPEAKER_04] So it was only five months ago that we were talking about Rick Devon's being the star of a completely different CBS reality show.
[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_03] Also, if not for that, if not for playing boldly on 50, does he even get the ask to be on 28?
[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_05] Well, that's if I mean, let's go even further. If the coin lands on the other side. Ooh, if it's tails. If he goes out on the coin, does he get the same edit on the show? Does he get the call for big brother? Does any of this happen? Right? Like the in this entire season was potentially the creation of a coin flip. Uh, which again, thematically fits the season very, very well, I think. Mm hmm.
[00:57:57] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. So it's gonna be tougher for anybody to outdo the 2026 that Rick Devon's has had on reality TV. I'm sure it's the Reese done it. Right? She had the year that she won the traders, but I think she won. Uh, if she was, was she on big brother that that summer?
[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_05] I don't think so. I think it was later.
[00:58:20] [SPEAKER_00] Yeah, I think it was. Actually, it was a year later.
[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_04] Not sure. I feel like it was 2022 and 2023. Mm hmm. Yeah. So to do it both in one year is insane. I know they shot it in 2025, but it all aired on, uh, in 2026. Uh, and well, I think it was the same year.
[00:58:41] [SPEAKER_03] Both. Yeah. Both. It was the same year.
[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_01] Okay. I think the survivor players are way more strategic than a lot of the people that get cast on big brother and are way more willing to make big moves and not go with the house. And I mean, all season long, it was just like, let's do the exciting thing. Let's flip the boat for no reason. Let's, you know, do, do go with this alliance. Let's go with that alliance. And it makes for a much more entertaining season. So if that's the way that the survivor players are going to play, then like, I'm more than happy to see the board.
[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_04] So I would love to see more survivor players on big brother, but I think that even returning big brother players would have done this. I think that Rachel came in last season with that. The difference was that there was only one of Rachel and Devin's and D had each other to have their backs. Plus also Angela. So I think that any reality that is going to only like accelerate the speed of play in the big brother house.
[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah. Um, well, Rob, before the season started, we had seen and people have posted out. You know, Devin's didn't really care for big brother. We've seen his tweets and stuff. Um, Devin's winning. Should you get the call? Would you go to the big brother house next year, Rob? Would you, would you enter the doors?
[01:00:04] [SPEAKER_04] I mean, I think it would be very hard to say no to, I don't think I would get that call. And I think that, um, I'm not sure like, uh, Becca Devins was so supportive of Rick all season long that I don't think that you would not see my, my, my amazing wife. Who's so, says so amazing in so many ways. She would not be like watching the live feeds, tweeting about how excited she was for 90 days. No. I, I don't know, Rob. I wouldn't be surprised.
[01:00:31] [SPEAKER_01] I mean, we would be.
[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_04] You all. Yes. Yes. I guess, I guess so. Um, but I think I would go stir crazy in a way that Rick Devins and D, uh, did not also. I think that that would be, um, I think that I would really struggle with the downtime, but I think that there's a lot of the newer guard of survivor. I think that Riz God really would be a more natural person to go back and do it. If they ever did a shorter one with reality TV vets, I would be all for it.
[01:00:59] [SPEAKER_04] But I think the, the full bore summer, uh, especially to, to go in Pouya, just my luck of like, to go in like after the season that you bring in all the survivors and there's an invoice to be paid. But in that scenario to go in and just go like, uh, have like, uh, like in and out and say I did it might not be the worst idea.
[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah. Yeah. You know, punch your ticket.
[01:01:23] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. I was there. I was there. I was the Ashley of the season. So, you know, uh, stranger things have happened. Okay. What else from tonight's finale? How about this? The pickup Taron, are you excited for two more big brother seasons? We've been renewed.
[01:01:40] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. Yeah. It's so funny. Like how tied into like our own jobs. Yeah.
[01:01:48] [SPEAKER_04] But I don't ever recall them doing a two year. I feel like a lot of them say like, oh, we'll be back next summer for big brother. But that I knew you talked about it on the podcast about how the ratings have been up and the resurgence of big brother and the blockbuster and all of the things. So CBS must be feeling very good to say two more. Yeah. Like take us to big brother 30.
[01:02:13] [SPEAKER_05] Yeah. Yeah. Well, I talked about this in my book that famously the show was renewed for two more seasons back at the end of Arnold Shapiro's tenure.
[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_05] Mm-hmm. But the last few seasons, basically, the blockbuster was was put into play. And the ratings have started to go up. And last season they were up this season. They were up over last season. And so the only other time this has happened was in the in the wake of big brother 10 where the ratings increased into 11, 12 and 13. And so it's not super surprising that like the networks feeling super confident.
[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_05] It's definitely I think like a boon for the show considering all of the outside things going on with Paramount and everything that yeah, like, okay, there's a little bit of that we can hold on to here. But I also for that reason wouldn't necessarily count it as a guarantee that everything's going to go well.
[01:03:30] [SPEAKER_04] Well, I think that compared to and you mentioned it with the rest of everything on television going like down, down, down to even have it be maintaining growth, but to actually be growing, I think is an incredibly strong sign for the franchise.
[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_04] And so kudos to big brother for locking in through season 30 and let the alumni speculation start to percolate of who's coming back for big brother 30.
[01:04:04] [SPEAKER_03] Let's do a draft. I'm down. You want to start now?
[01:04:10] [SPEAKER_04] I did win the returnee draft also with Angela. You're having a good year. Not as good as Rick Evans. No. So yeah. All right. Listen, anything else from the finale that you saw?
[01:04:26] [SPEAKER_01] I just had a great time watching it. I feel like it was very satisfying. And I feel like honestly going into it, I thought anyone could win. It really could be anyone's game. And I feel like that makes it really exciting. I think for the show, I think having Devon's win this is very good because I think it shows future players that they need to be a good player. And I think it's very exciting for me.
[01:04:54] [SPEAKER_01] And I think it's very exciting for me. And if you're going to win that, I think, is best for the show. So great finale.
[01:05:22] [SPEAKER_04] We haven't talked about the reunion of Rick with his family. Of course, he talked all season about Jack and Juju and Becca. And then that was such a great moment when he came out. And for a finale that really yada yadded a lot, we really stayed on Rick reuniting with his family.
[01:05:42] [SPEAKER_04] You know, the hug that, you know, his son was in the middle, Jack with Juju on the side and Becca there. But his son just grabbed onto him and wasn't letting go. And after 90 days of 90 plus days, I'm sure, from the sequester of being away, that really was a nice moment.
[01:06:06] [SPEAKER_01] I cried. It was so cute. It was so sweet. I was literally like sitting there with Callan watching it when we were on the stream together. And I just was like, oh, my God.
[01:06:14] [SPEAKER_00] It was very cute.
[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah. That's got to be the longest they've been away from their dad also, right? Oh, for sure. Probably. Yeah. That can't be easy.
[01:06:23] [SPEAKER_05] I mean, it's so I feel like they've been such a part of the journey for like they they've been on they were on Unlocked. You know, like like Becca's been posting so much content of like the journey of watching him there and the way he's talked about them so much. Like, you know, you usually know that people have kids or like that they have a family.
[01:06:51] [SPEAKER_05] But like, like he really he talked about them so much that you would have known their names with or without seeing any of Becca or the or the kids before that. So it's like it really I was talking about this the other day that like something about this season has made the money feel a bit more tangible than it usually does.
[01:07:09] [SPEAKER_05] And I think it's a huge a huge part of it is the fact that, you know, number one, there are people on the cast like Devins and D who know the actual impact of winning money as opposed to like it's this theoretical concept that like that's such a huge number. I don't even know what it means to have that. It's like, no, no, they know what it means to have that. Like they've they've experienced it before. And and how, you know, ever present Devins's family was in his journey and his story.
[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_05] And so I thought it was a great moment to to sort of, you know, bookend the season of with him coming out and seeing them and having that moment was super nice.
[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. And Rick has this interesting identity crisis now of is he a survivor or is he a big brother and a big brother alumni? There's no good word for a person who plays big brother. And Julie tried to put put him on the spot.
[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_06] All right, Devins, for the record, which is a better show? Survivor or big brother?
[01:08:16] [SPEAKER_02] I just know that CBS is the king of reality.
[01:08:22] [SPEAKER_04] Good. That was a great answer. Good line. Really good line. Because I'm like, oh, how are they going to wriggle his way out of this one? But he did incredible work.
[01:08:40] [SPEAKER_05] And he's going to do well in that regard. But I think the better question is, and we've asked this before, but like, is Devins now a big brother player or is he a survivor player primarily? And even though he was on survivor first, he's now played more big brother than he has survivor. And he won big brother.
[01:08:55] [SPEAKER_00] And won. Yeah.
[01:08:56] [SPEAKER_05] So I think, undeniably, he is more of a big brother player now.
[01:09:03] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. It's interesting. Because I don't think he's ever going to commit.
[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_03] He's going to ride the middle like Drew. No.
[01:09:10] [SPEAKER_00] For sure.
[01:09:10] [SPEAKER_03] That is the right call. Keep your options open. Because I think this is going to be a fun exercise. I think it depends on the player. Because I would say that Suri won the traitors, will forever be a survivor player. Right? Like 15 seasons of survivor, though. And there have been longer, to the point you made. Yeah. I think it depends on the player. And I think for Devins, I don't think there's a wrong answer. You could say survivor. You could say big brother. Both would be valid.
[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_07] Mm-hmm.
[01:09:36] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah.
[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_04] Well, Taren, anything else around big brother 28 in this finale? Yeah. One more thing. Daddy wants the dove. You got it.
[01:09:50] [SPEAKER_00] The breathing afterwards.
[01:09:52] [SPEAKER_03] Yeah. Taren's found his new baby on the soundboard.
[01:09:56] [SPEAKER_05] This is going to be a long year. Soundbite tournament incoming. Find me on Twitch, YouTube, and Patreon. Oh, my God.
[01:10:04] [SPEAKER_00] Yes. That'd be very funny.
[01:10:06] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. For Devins, he came to the big brother house. They called him old. They called him wrinkled. They said he was leathery. Yeah. But now you can call him winner. Diamond Devins. He did it.
[01:10:21] [SPEAKER_00] Good for him.
[01:10:21] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. Pia, any final thoughts?
[01:10:26] [SPEAKER_03] I just can't believe someone that used to play Fortnite with Steven Fishback won Big Brother in 2026. Like, this is a wild timeline we're in. Yeah. But no, it was a very fun season. 10 out of 10. Yeah. Well, the Fortnite group chat is going to be lit. But I had a good time. Yeah. You think Devins pulls up to the Fortnite lobbies now? He probably has V-Bucks to spend on. Probably good living life. Yeah.
[01:10:46] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah. I think that his son might have been playing on his account. I heard on good authority from somebody in the group chat that his Fortnite account had been active recently.
[01:10:59] [SPEAKER_03] He's like, I'm going to get him the battle pass. I'm going to complete all the skins for him while he's gone.
[01:11:02] [SPEAKER_04] Yeah, dad's going to be so proud when he comes home. Okay. Exactly. All right. Well, let's talk about, oh, I forgot. I can't believe we didn't mention this. We're going to have exit interviews with the final three coming up. Taryn and I are going to talk with the winner of Big Brother 28, our second place finalist, Taylor, and then Drew coming up on Friday morning. So be on the lookout for that.
[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_04] It'll be very fun to hear from all of them. Then come on out and see us, Washington, D.C. That's going to be on October 14th. RobinsWebster.com slash events for our live survivor. And there are going to be a lot of great reality stars in attendance for that one. Because the very next day, there is going to be a battle royale.
[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_04] Remember the chat BCC when they used to call it that Big Brother event that they had? Well, now it's Survivors taking on Big Brother players in a survivor-style game that's going to be streamed live on Ramble coming up for October 15th. Head on over to BB28.chat to find out more on that one. We've got all of our survivor coverage. It's been a great start to the survivor season.
[01:12:24] [SPEAKER_04] Head on over to WeKnowSurvivor.com for that. Including tomorrow when you hear my interview with Rick Devins' tribe mate from Survivor 50, Savannah Louie will join me to talk about a very fun episode two of Survivor 51. And then at 3 p.m. Eastern on Patreon, I will be taking your questions live. We'll talk Survivor 51. We'll probably talk Big Brother as well.
[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_04] Head on over there, RobinsWebster.com slash patron, where you'll also get to hear Chappelle and I on Club Condo talking about all the nonsense from the world of Survivor. And then I bet we'll probably also do some postseason slop, too, if anything should come to our attention. And then, Pooja, you and I are going to be talking Traders New Blood with my old friend from the castle, Tiffany Mitchell.
[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_03] And we're going to have a great time doing it, Rob. Big Brother is over. It is now Traders season fully fledged on Thursdays.
[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_04] Okay, so yeah, no Traders New Blood tonight, but it will be back next Thursday night. And we will be doing an off-week mailbag with Tiffany Mitchell to talk about this season so far. Pooja, what else is coming up for you?
[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_03] Well, today was the premiere of Celebrity Traders UK season two. So I'm going to be on top of that. Myself and Annabelle will be talking about that this season. Every episode will be getting its own recap. So it's one recap per episode for this season. We're very excited about it. I just wrapped up talking Traders Ireland and myself and Scali are talking Traders Canada. We are two episodes deep into that right now. It's time. It's time to catch up on all the Traders. It's Traders time, okay? Exactly.
[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_04] The Big Brother season is over now. It's time to watch a lot of Traders.
[01:14:13] [SPEAKER_03] All the Traders. And they're all available. They're all available and they've all been fun in some way, shape, or form.
[01:14:19] [SPEAKER_04] And we also have watch parties every day on the Discord. Check it out on Patreon. Melissa, what's coming up for you?
[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_01] Well, I'm so sad because the Big Brother season's over. I have to go crawl back into my cave. No, I'm on Instagram. It's Melissa with three A's. And then I also intend to be streaming during the off season. Just random. Check out the stream I just did today. It was so chaotic. I was cooking with Callan while watching the episode and doing my makeup. Yeah, what will you stream?
[01:14:49] [SPEAKER_04] It'll be IRL?
[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. I figure if people are interested, just what's going on, chatting, whatever. Maybe watching something. Maybe talking about the finale or something. I don't know. We'll see. Or the exit interviews. Who knows? Oh. Check me out. It's Melissa with three A's. On Twitch.
[01:15:12] [SPEAKER_04] Okay. All right, Melissa. Great to podcast again with you tonight. Hopefully I don't have to wait until July to do it again.
[01:15:20] [SPEAKER_00] I know.
[01:15:22] [SPEAKER_04] Yes. All right. Taryn, I know that the Big Brother season is over, but that doesn't mean that you are stopping with creating incredible content.
[01:15:33] [SPEAKER_05] Thank you. Yes. If you want to keep my voice in your head every morning, I will be doing daily live feed updates for Big Brother 2 back in the year 2001 over on my Patreon.
[01:15:48] [SPEAKER_04] It's a wild start.
[01:15:51] [SPEAKER_05] Let me tell you. I remember. Let me tell you. It's wild doesn't cover it. That's it. I am astounded every single day of that game. There's stuff going down that I know more about Mike Boogie than I ever wanted to. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. So you can come and check that out over on my Patreon, especially as we head into this off season.
[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_05] Live feeds after dark. Truly. In many ways, this is, some of you, this is the last time you're going to hear from us in a little while. So it's the last time you're going to have the opportunity to be reminded to check out my Patreon and the Patreon of RHAP. Yeah. Of course, if you want to support the podcast through the off season as well.
[01:16:41] [SPEAKER_04] And Taryn and I are going to talk about Survivor coming up next week as well. So we will get into Survivor and maybe even look at some Big Brother, start talking some Big Brother as we talk about Rick Devins, a Big Brother winner. So look for that as well coming up early next week. And this was so fun. Taryn, first off, another incredible job, another season in the books, our real leader during the Big Brother season.
[01:17:09] [SPEAKER_04] You were day in, day out, perfect attendance. So congratulations again to you. Thank you. And to the entire RHAP team that it's not easy to talk about this show. I mean, Taryn makes it look easy to talk about this show, but it is a marathon for all of us, the podcasters that show up day in and day out to give their thoughts on the season. And there is a lot that goes into that.
[01:17:39] [SPEAKER_04] So I appreciate all of you who came here to talk about Big Brother with us. To everybody behind the scenes at Rob is a Podcast, there are a lot of people working who are, you know, on all sorts of different shifts to get these podcasts out. Thanks to that. And to all of the people who came in and watched us all through this summer. Taryn mentioned it, but all of the Big Brother coverage did so well this summer.
[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_04] Thank you for coming to RHAP to check out what we had to say. I hope we did a good job for you. I know that we all tried our best and we can't wait to do it again with you. Next summer. So thank you so much. Take care, everybody. Have a good one. Bye.
