[00:01:39] We're podcast guys. Of course, we're going to get together and podcast about the stars of the year being in a Brandt Steel.

[00:01:45] This is a very, very fun occasion and great opportunity to look back on the past 365 days.

[00:01:51] And I feel like we're going to say this every year we do it, Rob, but this one in particular felt just jam packed with oddities and some of it will be represented today.

[00:01:59] Jam packed. We had a plethora of things to choose from inanimate objects, stars, all sorts of things that are going to be in today's Brandt Steel.

[00:02:09] And this is something that is so fun because every year you solicit suggestions from the audience to be a part of this process.

[00:02:18] Now, for those of you who are just joining us, people who maybe just discovered RHAP this year or clicked on the wrong video by accident,

[00:02:27] let me tell you about what we're about to do here today. We're about to run.

[00:02:31] I don't know if I would call it AI, but I'd call it some kind of computer intelligence is going to help us simulate a season of Big Brother with a bunch of phenomenon and stars that we've loaded in from 2024.

[00:02:47] So this is going to be something Mike and I are going to be following along with you the action and commentating on a season of Big Brother that will play out in the next couple of hours.

[00:02:58] Mike, anything else people need to know about what we're doing today?

[00:03:01] Yeah. So again, everything we have created the cast, we are the Jesse Tannenbaums putting these people forward.

[00:03:08] Everything from there on out is out of our control.

[00:03:11] So we are basically commenting much like we do on the regular, Rob, about a season of reality TV playing out in front of us.

[00:03:19] We were able to curate a list of people pulled from many different spheres of pop culture.

[00:03:26] We were able to see a lot of people, memes, sometimes things as well into one calamitous, chaotic cast.

[00:03:40] That being said, it will not represent everyone in the group.

[00:03:44] And I do believe, Rob, I don't think we did this intentionally.

[00:03:47] I'm pretty sure this is going to be a fresh meat, Brant Steele.

[00:03:52] It is going to be all new players, which perhaps does spoil a bit of the casting.

[00:03:57] But suffice it to say, there are a lot of stars this year and we're only hoping we can match their freak in talking about them today.

[00:04:04] Well, we have a lot to get to here today, so we're going to jump right into everything.

[00:04:09] But first, a little bit of a programming announcement because we have some big news coming your way.

[00:04:16] And it's a podcast all about big news and something that might be one of the stars of 2025 is a brand new podcast starring the man I'm looking at right now.

[00:04:29] Announcing the reality flash with Mike Bloom.

[00:04:32] Look at that brown derby hat. Very demure, very mindful. See how he wears it to cover up his receding hairline.

[00:04:40] Yes. Excited to talk about a brand new podcast that I will be launching in the new year as we say farewell to 2024.

[00:04:47] Of course, a lot to miss, but a lot to look forward to in 2025, including the reality flash, which is RHAP's official breaking news podcast in the world of reality television.

[00:04:59] Yeah. And so we're very excited to be working with Mike on this podcast that Mike, of course, is a great resource on any reality TV news that breaks.

[00:05:08] You can often find him being the first to report all sorts of stories over on parade dot com.

[00:05:14] And now we have the opportunity to in podcast form, be able to have one of the top names in reality news bringing you a story whenever something is going on, whether it is the announcement of a new show, a new cast, Twitter drama that is boiling over.

[00:05:33] Mike Bloom is going to be on the scene with a shortish podcast that coming to you in a flash to talk about whatever is the biggest story in reality TV.

[00:05:42] Yeah. Who would have thought that shortish and Mike Bloom rely or reside in the same sentence together?

[00:05:48] But look, this is my new year's resolution. And so I'm really excited about these to Rob's point.

[00:05:53] These are really bite sized podcasts that will come out when we feel there is a big piece of breaking news to talk about.

[00:05:59] And it's essentially going to be the gist, a boiled down version of, OK, what's happening?

[00:06:05] What do you need to know? And what are people saying about it?

[00:06:08] To your point, I'm very lucky in that I do get to bring in an extensive amount of experience in reality TV journalism and get to apply it in this form as well.

[00:06:18] And we'll be kicking things off in a major way on January 1st, as I will be with one foot in the past, Rob, and one foot in the future.

[00:06:26] I will reflect on some of the biggest storylines and characters to come out of 2024 in reality television and talk about what I'm looking forward to most in 2025.

[00:07:59] But these are sort of like the figures that really made their mark on the year that went by.

[00:08:04] Yeah. So we've kind of stuck to this in the now six years that we've done this of how we tend to stay away from politics.

[00:08:12] We even tend to stay away sometimes for the most part with athletes, with a couple of exceptions, including this year.

[00:08:18] It is largely entertainment focused, and they are hopefully going to be an entertaining cast.

[00:08:23] But as the wide swath will show again, Rob, this was a very weird year.

[00:08:29] Weird year. Weird year. OK.

[00:08:31] All right. Let's bring in our cast.

[00:08:34] OK. And so let's go ahead and bring in our first contestant that's going to be entering the BB24 house.

[00:08:48] Yes. So to spoil a bit of the future casting of this season, it was a year for the pop girlies, Rob.

[00:08:55] We really saw the rise of quite a few people onto the scene.

[00:09:00] And we'll see if she will have a rise and fall of a Midwestern princess inside the Big Brother house.

[00:09:05] It is the one, the only Chapel Rhone.

[00:09:07] Yeah. Now, I thought this was Chappelle up until a little bit before we came on to the podcast.

[00:09:12] I was like, OK, he had a pretty good year. He won R.H.P. the traders and recap kickback.

[00:09:16] So, OK, just Chappelle's in. No, no, it's a different person.

[00:09:21] I mean, we haven't seen them in the same place at the same time, Rob.

[00:09:42] Over this summer, we had in one of the many entertaining moments of Big Brother 26,

[00:09:49] And Charlie said, like, let me one up that and actually reappropriate the term and see how I can do in the Big Brother house.

[00:09:56] And of course, she will be dressed in this sickening light green neon yellow.

[00:10:02] I'm not sure how it will clash with the decor.

[00:10:04] But, you know, Big Brother fans like to talk about the pieces of wardrobe that people wear over and over again in the house.

[00:10:10] Charlie XCX will definitely invest in that color all season long.

[00:10:13] OK. Next. First, we had Derek XCX, now Charlie XCX in the Big Brother house.

[00:10:20] All right. It's the Dune popcorn bucket.

[00:10:24] There we go. Nothing says more deke than the Dune popcorn bucket, of course.

[00:10:29] Now, Mike, you have one of these, right?

[00:10:31] Oh, well, you know, it depends on whenever the nights sort of lend to that.

[00:10:37] But the spice will flow and hopefully so will the blind sides coming from the Dune popcorn bucket because you never know what might be inside.

[00:10:45] But regardless, much like the Big Brother house, once you enter, you're bound to have a good time.

[00:10:49] The Dune popcorn bucket.

[00:10:50] I mean, it's too bad that Dune popcorn bucket wasn't playing in Big Brother 26.

[00:10:53] Could have had a showmance with Joseph Rodriguez.

[00:11:25] Oh, it's Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

[00:11:28] So, again, 2024 was an odd year.

[00:11:31] And this is going to be one of a couple of characters, Rob, that actually really came onto the scene right after we did last year's podcast.

[00:11:39] Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison on parole in late December 2023 after being tried and found guilty for the murder of her mother.

[00:11:47] And she's kind of went on the world tour since.

[00:11:51] She went on a huge talk show circuit, was on a reality show.

[00:11:54] So this is not her first experience, has made a bunch of cameos on different things, got divorced, then got kindled things with her old flame, then was pregnant by that old flame.

[00:12:06] So mother of a year.

[00:12:07] Don't call her mother.

[00:12:09] She has a lot of odd attachments to that term.

[00:12:11] Okay.

[00:12:11] All right.

[00:12:12] Next up, we have always talk to a girl.

[00:12:14] Couldn't do the 2024 brand steal without Hawk to a girl.

[00:12:20] Yeah.

[00:12:21] So, of course, one of I would say maybe like the 1A star, the 1.01 pick of stars of 2024.

[00:12:29] A girl, Haley Welch, I think her name is, who just went absolutely viral.

[00:12:34] I don't think she has a real name.

[00:12:35] No, you think she's officially changed it at this point?

[00:12:37] I mean, listen, she may want to change her name after her linking to some certain things at the end of the year here.

[00:12:43] But, of course, went viral for her rather full bloom answer that she just absolutely turned into a brief media empire before that media empire promptly crumbled, much like that cryptocurrency.

[00:12:54] So if there's anyone who needs the money the most, the non-existent money, it might be her.

[00:12:57] Okay.

[00:12:58] Next up, we have Kendrick Lamar.

[00:13:02] Yeah.

[00:13:02] So, of course, Kendrick Lamar, KDOT, put a punctuation mark at the end of a beef that he had with Drake, where the two men were certainly exchanging barbs, much like the thorned crown that Kendrick is wearing in this picture.

[00:13:15] But I think a lot of people feel that Kendrick was the winner here.

[00:13:18] And also, maybe this is a bit of like tying in the beginning of 2025, Kendrick will be headlining the Super Bowl as well.

[00:13:25] So a big year for Kendrick.

[00:13:27] Okay.

[00:13:27] Next up, we've got, oh, the Menendez brothers.

[00:13:30] So the Menendez brothers, of course, were known in the 90s.

[00:13:35] Lyle and Eric.

[00:13:35] Yes, for the murder of their parents.

[00:13:38] They have recently come to prominence because of their rather unique portrayal in the Monsters Netflix series created by Ryan Murphy.

[00:13:48] And, you know, they will be playing together.

[00:13:50] Yeah.

[00:13:51] Much like the Nolan twins.

[00:13:53] And according to Ryan Murphy, they share more than one thing in common with the Nolan twins.

[00:13:56] I was going to say the PAX bros.

[00:13:57] Yeah.

[00:13:58] That's true.

[00:14:39] Then we've got, oh, it's New Jersey drones.

[00:14:43] A story that is quite literally close to my heart and probably the latest of these characters to enter the 2024 brand seal.

[00:14:51] But in a big way, listen, a lot of people want to get revenge on those jammokes that fly banner planes over the house.

[00:14:58] Now we're essentially putting one of them in the house.

[00:15:01] Let's see if it's able to communicate some rather interesting messages to its fellow house guests.

[00:15:06] A house guest that will truly play the floater game.

[00:15:09] Yes, exactly.

[00:15:10] Floaters grab a remote control.

[00:15:12] Okay.

[00:15:13] All right.

[00:15:14] Then it's the Pop-Tart mascot star of the Pop-Tart Bowl.

[00:15:17] Yeah.

[00:15:18] So this was a little bit of a mea culpa from last year.

[00:15:21] The Pop-Tart Bowl happened after we did the 2023 brand steel and it was lit or should I say it was toasted because the Pop-Tart mascot in this odd Orwellian dystopian fantasy is this mascot.

[00:15:36] Big Brother's pretty Orwellian too.

[00:15:38] Yeah, very true.

[00:15:39] RIP that owl.

[00:15:40] But he was able to celebrate the end of the Pop-Tart Bowl by descending into a toaster, popping out as an inanimate deceased version of itself in which the winning team then feasted on its innards.

[00:15:53] And the saga continued.

[00:15:54] You know, we were talking about a couple days after this year, Pop-Tarts Bowl.

[00:15:57] Did you watch the results of that, Rob?

[00:15:58] So I didn't see the results.

[00:15:59] I saw some clips of the Pop-Tarts stripping.

[00:16:02] Oh, yeah.

[00:16:03] They really committed to the bit and then some.

[00:16:05] I wouldn't even call it a bit.

[00:16:06] It's a full out narrative right now.

[00:16:08] Like there are some Marvel movies that had less story going on than the Pop-Tarts Bowl where the frosted strawberry Pop-Tart resurrected itself and actually made its return in all of its like uncanny valley horror stricken face that luckily we have put the before image on his picture, not the after.

[00:16:28] Though it'll be interesting to see if, you know, 100 days of Big Brother, if he'll wind up looking like that at the end.

[00:16:36] Probably the biggest meme to come out of the 2024 Olympics.

[00:16:49] Of course, the Australian breakdancer breakdancing was a brand new sport in the Olympics.

[00:16:53] And while it was certainly notable, I think she almost superseded the event itself with how viral she went.

[00:17:01] Yes, finishing off our holy trinity of pop princesses, though some would say she is not exactly a holy figure considering how salacious her material can be.

[00:19:42] But also, she is one of the main stars of Challenger.

[00:19:47] So we shall see how quickly she gets into a three-person alliance and maybe serve up a

[00:20:23] We acknowledge everybody's artistic achievements.

[00:20:27] We just tried to figure out who would be the most fun to talk about on a fake reality

[00:20:34] Just to mention a few that would probably are at the top of a lot of people's lists.

[00:20:39] Beyonce, of course, had a big year with Cowboy Carter, performed at the Netflix halftime

[00:20:43] game.

[00:20:43] But she has decided she is going to preemptively join a poker alliance and start playing Texas

[00:20:48] Hold'em.

[00:20:49] And so I think she's getting ready for another show.

[00:20:51] Similarly, Luigi Mangione.

[00:20:55] Listen, it's weird to say that some people made a killing.

[00:21:02] The block was hot.

[00:21:03] But also, he's for Love Island.

[00:21:06] He's very Love Island cozy.

[00:21:07] And then finally, of course, Rob, this is a rarefied air.

[00:21:12] This will be our first official brand steel without Taylor Swift.

[00:21:16] And that is not to say that she didn't have a great year.

[00:21:18] Tortured Poets Department came out and she ended the heiress tour.

[00:21:22] And that's what it kind of feels like.

[00:21:23] This feels like a bit of an end of an era.

[00:21:26] You know, I think it's very tough to top last year when she played alongside her boyfriend,

[00:21:31] Travis Kelsey, who brutally blindsides her at the Final Four.

[00:21:35] And then she doesn't vote for him to win.

[00:21:36] So we decided to get a little bit of a yachtis from the T-Swift.

[00:21:40] Apologies to Swifties.

[00:21:41] Apologies to Charlie out there.

[00:21:43] But I can only imagine that she will make a big return.

[00:21:47] I actually hear, Rob, that she's played as many times as Boston Rob has played Survivor.
