BB28 Why ___ Lost Week 3

BB28 Why ___ Lost Week 3

Also available on YouTube.

Jason was not brought into Big Brother 28 as one of the “Icons” and decided to go against them. That was not a great idea, but was it the ultimate cause of his downfall? Or was it more the way he went about it and his own admitted messiness? David Bloomberg and Chappell look at these issues as well as other factors as they discuss what contributed to him leaving our TVs so soon. Plus their thoughts on other happenings this week, from the tea party to Drew’s position and more. At RHAP, we know Big Brother, and we know Why Jason Lost.

[00:00:00] You played yourself and got voted out. This is why blank lost. This is why blank lost. This is why blank lost.

[00:00:21] Welcome back to Why Blank Lost. I'm David Bloomberg and with me is my co-host, a man who also would not want Kamu to touch him and I don't blame him. It's Chappelle. That's a good introduction because you're not wrong. You're not wrong at all. Oh, yeah, I'm here. I'm very here. I'm here and I'm very here. Very happy to be here, David. Thank you for once again allowing me to talk about why these people are losing Big Brother. I think this might be a very interesting episode.

[00:00:49] Yeah, yeah, because what a week it has been, you know, like on the strategic side, it got a little dull near the end because it was so clear Jason was going if he didn't win Blockbuster. But things started spicing up in discussions surrounding a backup target, which we'll talk about in a moment. But since Jason did not win Blockbuster, it was all for nothing and we're exactly where I expected to be back on Monday night discussing Jason.

[00:01:13] I even noted in a video that if it weren't for Blockbuster, it was so clear what would happen that you and I could have recorded this podcast on Tuesday. But that's what the Blockbuster brings, you know, that uncertainty. Mm hmm. Yeah, it's I like the Blockbuster because it allows us to be uncertain, but it makes it makes our job hard. Right. Because we don't know why that person lost until they actually lose and they don't lose until a day before we record.

[00:01:38] And so, you know, we in the past, I'm sure you've been able to just kind of eyeball. OK, this person is going home by Monday, you know, and they've already been there. They're about to be backdoored. There's nothing they can do. The whole house is against them. And then you just kind of just sit and wait. So I appreciate the Blockbuster for that. But the one issue that I do have and maybe they're just going to normalize the Blockbuster is going to be a staple. I wouldn't be shocked if that's the case. But the one issue I do have is that I don't know.

[00:02:05] I feel like when people break the rules, the Blockbuster is kind of like the get out of jail free card, you know? And don't get me wrong. That's that's you know, we have other games where you win a competition, you save yourself. So it's not that abnormal. But I still think that the previous version of Big Brother, it did allow you to kind of strategize a little bit better. You'd have, you know, a more concrete idea of what you wanted to do. This keeps everything fluid. And so it's entertaining. But I think it would be very frustrating to play.

[00:02:35] Well, and frustrating, you know, I mean, last year, me and Ovi, maybe it's the reason Ovi isn't doing it. Dealing with Keanu and Kelly making it through week after week after week when they should not have, you know, according to following my rules and playing the game, they should not have. But they were able to. And yeah, there was a time, you know, when Ovi and I, you know, before Blockbuster, before AI Arena.

[00:03:01] Ovi and I would be like, OK, yeah, we can write our notes up now. And it's Monday. It's Tuesday. Of course, that bit me when I wrote up the why Jag lost podcast, like wrote up the full podcast, wrote up the whole dang thing because I was sure he wouldn't be saved. And yeah, he was. So the unaired secret version of why Jag lost, you know, maybe maybe.

[00:03:25] Maybe I should record that podcast sometime, just pretend that he did and go back and dig up my notes and just record that podcast like why Jag would have lost. Yeah. Why he would have lost. That probably would have been a good idea to drop that week, too. You know, maybe like a segment where you just say, all right, well, here's what Jag did wrong because he was saved. And it sucks that you had all those notes and couldn't even use them because at that point he will never go to lose again. Basically, he goes. It almost happened to him.

[00:03:51] Yeah, but that's why we discussed too much because we're like, oh, well, we'll talk about it next week. I'm sure. And no, no, anyone the amazing race. And so, yeah, Jag just doesn't lose. Right, right. Now, I said this week was uncertain, but it turns out it wasn't uncertain to me because I could not believe how accurate my prediction was as it played out. And again, all rode up before we knew anything.

[00:04:18] Kamu did indeed win HOH, nominated Lala, Mallory, added in Jason. Now, I did think Lala would be the target and Jason would only go because other people wanted it. But I did say if Kamu nominated Jason against Lala, Jason would be the one to go. So everybody mark this one down in your calendar because I doubt I will get another prediction this correct for at least the rest of the season, if not years to come.

[00:04:44] Right. I'm sad that Jason went out because I think we were both very high on Jason in our predictions. I think you said probably about a seven that he would follow the rules, I think, or eight. I think I said seven or six. Yeah. But I remember my reasoning for not picking Jason. It was that the same issue that I thought Rick Devins might have and that he's struggled with a little bit is that there's that natural showman there. There's that person who wants the attention. Right.

[00:05:08] I think the Dan Giesens of the world are able to lay low in public and then do their bidding behind the scenes in the diary room. But Jason likes to be seen. And from the moment he starts, you know, fake or real crying with Angela. But then we can get the camera and making faces. I say, oh, there's the showman. And then it evolved into now. Let me go tell everybody about all the cool stuff. Oh, yeah. Well, you're jumping ahead. You're jumping ahead. I know it's too good not to talk about.

[00:05:37] But yeah, but but to me, I just you know, I like a showman. I like the people who are going to make big brother fun. And so it's tough to know that sometimes being a showman is going to be the nail in the coffin for you in the game. Right. Right. And we'll find out if that was the only nail or there were a whole bunch of nails. Now, you mentioned, you know, that we were, you know, he had a lot of fans and everything. But I mean, this time last week, I was rooting for him to go.

[00:06:05] Because he was just playing so messy, so poorly. But then with the way things went down this week. Yes, there were obviously still gameplay reasons for him to go, which we'll talk about. But there were more personal reasons to want him to stay. Yeah. Yeah. I think a lot of the fan base. Well, for one, he was getting a lot of votes.

[00:06:27] I really enjoyed that. Julie, when he when he got his exit, was able to tell him that he was in the top three of the voting for or the top parts of the voting for the powers every week, because that showed that he did have fans. But yeah, over the last week is really hard not to root for someone like Jason, even while he's banging a tea kettle or whatever it was, you know, like even with that happening. It was still kind of like, man, I hope he can pull this out because it'll just be more interesting television.

[00:06:55] And you kind of felt for the guy. Yeah. But he was indeed the one evicted. And like I said, there were good reasons as well as some not so good reasons. We'll delve into all of those the way we always do by evaluating how Jason played compared to a set of guiding rules I originally wrote back in 2004 and have modified ever since. We will analyze his actions using what we saw on TV, live feeds, interviews and other information. And of course, the most recent published version of the rules is that Rob has a website dot com slash big brother rules.

[00:07:25] But before we get to that, we have some other things to discuss about the week in general. And I think it makes sense to start at the tea party. I don't want to get too far into the weeds because I know there's already been a lot of very good discussion about it on the live feed recap, the roundtable, the episode recap. But there is a lot to say about the way this was handled. And I'm talking like separate from what Jason did or didn't do in terms of the rules, because we'll get to that later.

[00:07:53] But this entire situation was unnecessary and quite frankly, dumb on commerce part. Everybody already knew Jason was the target. Everybody knew Jason was going. Kamu had told them all. They pretty much all agreed. But Camu decided he needed to make up a reason for it.

[00:08:15] No idea why he believed that was necessary or why people would why he thought people would forget that he had already told them that he was planning to backdoor Jason anyway. And he chose to do it at Mallory's fun little tea party. He ruined the tea party. He ruined the tea party. I think that's the that, you know, he ruined the tea party. We've had some big brother moments that have been iconic because, you know, Keisha's birthday. They it was Keisha's birthday, but the stuff was popping off in the real time and they were still trying to celebrate her birthday while it was happening.

[00:08:45] And this man planned to ruin this this tea party. He practiced his speech. He told like you said, he told everybody what he was going to do. He rehearsed it and he really talked about being able to emotionally isolate Jason. I think it's the words that him and Haley were using. And so as that being his motive, I thought, well, which rule is this? You know, what part of the game is that where I mean, don't get me wrong, pushing people away from the majority so that people are not going to work with them.

[00:09:15] That has been done before. It's a tale of the oldest time and big brother. But this making a spectacle, making a scene of yourself in order to embarrass Jason or I guess if if he felt like this was the only way he could make Jason a pariah. It just didn't seem like strategically good. And it was kind of hard to watch, too. Yeah. Yeah. He just came off as an ass. Yeah. And a hypocrite.

[00:09:38] You know, like somehow he forgot to mention that when he offered the deal to Jason, he never actually intended to honor it. And it already told others that. So he's like accusing Jason. You broke the deal. And it's like, you know, the deal that he never actually intended. And as he called out for Jason for lying, he showed himself to be a liar.

[00:10:00] And then he had the nerve to say Jason couldn't say he was playing an honest game, which, of course, none of them should be able to say if they actually want to win. But it was even worse that Camus sat there acting all pious while he was just as down in the dirt, if not more so as everybody else. They have blood all over their hands. And, you know, nobody is better than anybody in that house once they once the game starts, once the game starts.

[00:10:27] If you choose to be completely honest with everybody, you're probably going to go home. And so the idea that somebody should be ostracized for attempting to play the game is crazy. Now, don't get me wrong. If you do things that are poor, you know, like poor gameplay. Yeah. Call it out. You know, we caught you double dealing. We caught you lying. You've done these things. Cool. But to make a spectacle about almost nothing where it doesn't push the game forward for you.

[00:10:54] It didn't solidify that Jason was going home. He was probably already going to go home. The moment you put him on that block, there was no way Lala was going to survive or was going to get evicted over him, I guess I should say. Right. There are three people on the block and Jason was the shoe in for if he's there. Both of those other two people are safe. He he's going out. And so it just was a lot to do about nothing. It looked awful. It did. It looked just as bad on TV, if not worse.

[00:11:24] And I think for Kamu, it just tanked a lot of his social standing inside and outside the house. Yeah, I mean, he thought it would benefit him and give him a big moment, which Devon's noted on live feeds afterwards. And and Devon's loved it because now everyone's forgotten about what he did the week prior and how he made a big scene. And, you know, nobody's thinking about him as a target. And D loved it, too, even though she had encouraged Kamu beforehand.

[00:11:51] But it's not. She didn't encourage him because she thought it was a good idea. She encouraged him because she knew something like this would probably happen and make him a target. And I, you know, I very much expect and hope this is going to come back to bite him. That doesn't help Jason, but it may give him a little satisfaction if it does. Right. Yeah, I think we're all looking for justice for Jason at this point because it just didn't it didn't feel good watching that moment.

[00:12:20] It didn't further the gameplay in any way. And Jason was very just he was as able to make that moment about himself. And I really flip that clown knows they tried to put on him. Right. They tried to make a fool of them. And then but he embraced it. And then by the end, he's the tea kettle guy. Right. He's throwing little tea bags at people when he walks out. And Julie is giving the best exit interview I've ever heard we give in Big Brother history since not since Aaron Grease has Julie impressed me.

[00:12:49] You know, with the way she talked to somebody after they got out. And the thing with Aaron, I don't think Julie should have done that. But I like that she did it. I do. I appreciate that she did it. And this felt way better. This was just laced in positivity. And I think for somebody who had been so down and out all week, Jason definitely needed some positivity. Yes, absolutely. Now, another situation that came up this week was the way Drew and Barrett's games have really started to sink to the point that.

[00:13:17] But I think Drew at least is in serious danger this week if anyone in his supposed alliance wins H.O.H. And you shouldn't be saying that you shouldn't say if someone in his alliance wins H.O.H., he's in trouble. It should be the exact opposite. But we've seen how it's been. And it started with Angela and the paranoia has just spread and taken over the minds of D and Devins and probably all of the other three in the red corner.

[00:13:44] It's gotten to the point where they are all falling to massive confirmation bias that whatever he does is wrong. He comes talk to them. It's terrible. He leaves to talk to someone else. It's worse. I mean, I could list off every single item he can do no right. No, but he's not doing himself any favors either. You know, like we we see him in the diary room telling us that, oh, I'm making these other bonds. What if being buried want to go the other way? What if we don't want to work with the red corner?

[00:14:14] So they are giving people reason to not trust. They're thinking, OK, maybe he's in a showman's. That's not great for our alliance. I heard he wasn't going to vote with us to vote out to vote for Lala to keep to keep Lala in the game. I heard that got back to people. So it's it's like, yeah, he put himself in a position where they didn't trust him.

[00:14:40] Paranoia creeped in, but he never really tried or was aware that his standing in the house was slipping away from him. And I think there were clues. And so for him and then to a lesser extent, Barrett. Yeah, they've they found themselves in the middle kind of floating between these two alliances, just ready, ready to go with the power to take out the people that they're not really a fan of. But now they're caught in the crossfire and it's a very real possibility that either one of them can end up on the block.

[00:15:09] Yeah. And I mean, I do think that a lot of what we see in the diary room is. I don't like the word manufactured because it's not manufactured, but I think it is producer driven, like prompt. Hey, yes. A question that is asked of him, like, I don't think he's going in there and saying, ha ha. I plan to turn on D and Devins and Angela. I think it's more like, well, if this case happened, what would you do?

[00:15:36] And he says, well, yes, then I have put myself in a position where I could do this. And then they're just taking that and throwing it in there to make it look more like he's double dealing. Because on the live feeds, all he and Barrett talk about are how dedicated they are to the crossovers. And we trust the crossovers and the crossovers have no reason not to trust us. If you just watch the live feeds, I believe that is truly where their minds are, that they are being honest there.

[00:16:05] But I know that a lot of fans are being like led astray by some of the other more edited stuff. And yeah, part of it is because he is being, you know, they they told them, yeah, go become spies. And he is. He's gotten in good with them. So, of course, he's going to talk to them about those things. But in the end, so far, every time he's come down on the side of the crossovers and.

[00:16:33] I think it just, you know, part of it goes back to, like you said, him being unaware. Part of it goes back to. The other people are younger like him. I can't blame him for wanting to spend time with people closer to his age. He has the flirt man's going with melody and, you know, all that. But again, to me, I think if you could truly get a look inside his mind, I think he is dedicated to the crossovers. And see, that's I think that's where we disagree.

[00:17:02] I think you're being more kind to him than I will, because, you know, let's say Jason had won the blockbuster. He wasn't dedicated to the crossovers then. He was trying to keep Mallory around. It was his side, you know, Barrett and that, you know, that group was trying to build a coalition to make this move to get rid of Lala. And it wasn't if it wasn't for Taylor's loyalty to Lala. They might have pulled it off because they needed Taylor as that last wing vote.

[00:17:30] But Drew and Barrett were definitely considering, you know, basically betraying their side and going with voting out Mallory. I don't think they were ever going to betray them. I think once it was they were going to let him in on it. Yeah. Well, I mean, they had talked to to Devin's and D and I and even Kamu. I think they tried to convince them like, hey, wouldn't it be great if we kept Mallory? Lala is worse for you. You know, they definitely tried to lobby for Lala.

[00:17:58] But what I saw on the live feeds once. The crossovers put their foot down. That was it. They were they were like, yeah, OK, we'll vote out Mallory. We're not happy about it, but we will do it. And that's what I mean about being dedicated to them. You can talk all you want when it comes down to. And so they were once it was clear, they just weren't weren't going anywhere.

[00:18:27] And I think that's one of the missed opportunities that we don't have because of Jason winning the blockbuster. We'll never know how that vote was going to go. And it was so close at times where it felt like, you know, Taylor could go either way. There was a lot of interesting maneuvering going on. They will largely blame Taylor for this not happening, even though they never had to make the choice. It never it never actually happened. But I think the other the other smoking gun against Barrett and Drew is just Drew's positioning.

[00:18:55] Right. It says, yeah, it's one thing to go play double agent. But then they started to notice that it's actually beneficial for Drew at times to maybe work with the other side against them. I think Devens was the one who pointed it out. So maybe he's not thinking about doing it, but he should be. If he if I was in that position, you know, I would be thinking about it or, you know, he he clearly has. Other bonds where if we if we tried to target them or if they wanted to target us, they could. And so, you know, it started I think it started with paranoia.

[00:19:23] And then that little thing just like snowballed into this bigger mistrust. And then now that he's in a position where it feels like he probably should be flipping, they might have been getting some vibes that these people aren't as loyal to him. So, yeah, it's tough how this will happen. But, you know, the problem is Angela. We talked about this in the preseason. And this woman is unpredictable. And if you play closely with Angela, you might go home. And she's good for targeting her allies just as Quinn.

[00:19:53] So this to me is par for the course. Yeah, that is the biggest problem, because even now she is like barely hiding her disdain. And same with D for Drew when he walks into a room. But it circles back to what you had said. He's oblivious to it. He is not seeing these signs. It's right over his head.

[00:20:22] And I mean, Devin's gave him a literal lecture about how he was acting. And I I really don't think he understood the problems. I think he is so blinded by the fact that he gets to work with these reality TV icons. And he just believes he's living his best life. And when they do eventually turn on him, he is going to be so hurt. And I just feel bad for the kid looking ahead to it. It's tough for the super fans.

[00:20:52] You know, that's I think I always root for the super fans. It doesn't matter the moment you tell me you're a super fan. I will give you some grace just off that, because I want people to care about the game they're playing. And I know is going to kill him, you know, but he does have the blockbuster to save himself. If that ever does come up, you know, he does have the veto. So there's still some intrigue about, you know, how they would do that with a backdoor, what they put them right up. But as long as Angela is in that house, he's going to have a target on his back. And I think that if he's a talented player, he might be able to escape it.

[00:21:21] And that'll be fun to watch. Yes. Yes. All right. One other thing before we move on. You had posted on Blue Sky about Lala during the eviction episode. You said, I'm so sick of it. I'm fed up. What's the what's the context of that? Here I am rooting for this woman all week. I said, Taylor, Taylor, you got to keep Lala. My reasoning behind that is because, you know, there was a lot of speculation. Well, it's Taylor. You're just going to keep her because, you know, they have a lot of similarities.

[00:21:51] There's two black women in the house. They have bonded over that. And I say, yeah, they have bonded over that. But they have bonded. Lala is Taylor's number one. She's going to be at the bottom of either of these alliances. So I figured if you're going to be at the bottom, you might as well keep your number one. And so I was really rooting for Lala to come out on top of that. And at moments, there were times where it didn't look like it. I said, man, am I rooting for the wrong outcome? Because Mallory, as much as I wasn't rooting for her, she's a bigger fan or at least not maybe not a bigger fan, but she's more inactive in the game.

[00:22:21] Lala just kind of disappeared this week. And it was hard to root for her, but I stood. I still tough, David, until the blockbuster. She plays the blockbuster in this damn brunch romper. And I was like, you couldn't find some sweatpants or nothing. Why are you out there running in, you know, in your Sunday afternoon, you know, tea party outfit? You could award us to the tea party. So she does a competition. She's out immediately. I said, you know what? Every competition, not for everybody. That's fine.

[00:22:50] But she lost me when they came down the stairs. We see Jason come down the stairs. We see Mallory come down the stairs. Why is Lala walking down them stairs in heels? Lady, you just lost the blockbuster and you changed into your heels? This woman, focus. I just feel like her head's not in the game. Maybe she was wearing her heels. That's why she lost the blockbuster, you know? David, don't piss me off. That's what I'm saying. Do not piss me off. That's what I'm saying. That's the type of stuff that irritates me. Lock in. Lock in.

[00:23:20] The last thing you should have been worried about is, let me put my good shoes on in case I get eliminated. Grab them shoes, put them in your bag, and walk out the house if you're eliminated. But at least look like you are tapped in. I wouldn't want to work with Lala if I saw that. It would push me away because I would say, oh, she's unserious. You know? They didn't get to watch the competition. But why are you coming down? I'm like, these steps and heels. You took the time to put your heels on. Maybe them shoes hurt her feet. I don't know. But I just thought that was a crazy choice.

[00:23:47] And it would have given me the ick if I was inside the house. I'd be like, ah, she can go. All right. Well, we can move on to what would normally be our another edition of Julie Chen Moonves' Wrong About Blank. But Julie didn't actually say anything too terribly wrong this week. And you already brought up her interview with Jason was, I also said the same thing, one of the best I remember her doing ever. Sure. So in recognition of that,

[00:24:16] I will lay off of her for the moment. Same. However, we got to give her her flowers, David, because if anybody's going to drag her, it was us. Yes. But we do have another special addendum to this segment. Big Brother Production slash casting is wrong about Blank. And this is, of course, because of Kamu. Now, if you haven't seen by now, he posted a couple of Instagram stories and even pinned them as highlights, obviously, before he was in the house.

[00:24:45] And they were just found or at least had more light shown on them on Thursday. In it, a man is being arrested. He is being restrained slash assaulted by the police. And he is yelling that he can't breathe. Kamu is walking nearby and, you know, recording himself on his phone, quote unquote, joking about the guy and George Floyd. Now, I know I'm not doing it justice. You know, search.

[00:25:12] If you want to find, if you haven't seen it, search Kamu Instagram, you know, George Floyd. I'm sure that'll pull it up. But Rob used the exact right word for it on the Thursday night recap, which is disgusting. Yeah, this sucks because you want to believe that coming into a game like this, you're not going to be isolated or you're not going to be othered in the house based on your identity. So, yeah, if I do something wrong in the game, then sure, be mad at me,

[00:25:41] you know, treat me, you know, push me away. Don't be don't want to align with me. That's fine. But when stuff like this happens and we find that you have views that align with bigotry or hatred, then at that point we have the question, well, damn, did I ever stand a chance in the house with you in the first place? And so it's also very dangerous, you know, for people to come in and have certain views, you know, that lean into the more hateful side of the things that happen in society, right? Like this man was, this man, he was murdered.

[00:26:11] He was, he was killed. You know, we watched it happen. You know, it happened. We saw it. And for you to be making light of it, it's not great. It's disgusting, as Rob said. But it also kind of shows you like the value you have for certain lives, you know, and for if that's the value you have for a certain life, imagine how hard it is to bond with you. You know, it's no wonder why, you know, certain people are going to be targeted or certain people are going to be isolated.

[00:26:39] There also were some other social media posts that he had liked in the past and things like that. That makes you question the other people that he's not really working with and what they, what their issues are. And so it wasn't great. And it's very frustrating when you know that big brother casting should have caught this. They should have caught this because they do background checks. A lot of the survivor players have been talking about the things that have gotten them flagged during their background check, social media posts and things of that nature.

[00:27:06] I think Kelly had come out and said something Quinn and like another two or three people have just been talking about, oh yeah, this got flagged on my background check. This got flagged on mine, but this is Instagram. We know that big brother casting is on Instagram. They're looking at these people's social media pages and come who was not trying to hide it. It's pinned. So, you know, so anybody could see it. So if you were able to do your due diligence and you saw things like this, to me, it's very irresponsible for you to put somebody like that in the house. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:27:35] I mean, even before this video, the stuff that he had posted and or liked should have led to him not being cast. Add this video on top of it. And it's just like, what on earth are you thinking? And it's, it's yeah. I just go back to what Rob said. Disgusting. Yeah. And big brother has been doing this for a long time. You know, big brother, like they, it felt like when they did their diversity initiative that we moved away from that because it was more diverse. I mean,

[00:28:03] just look at the amount of black winners we've had since that's happened. Black women winners. We had gone so long without a black woman being in the final two to now we have Ashley and Taylor, you know, winning and Chelsea all winning in the span of five years, you know? And so it's like, yeah, things are changing there. And these people who normally didn't get a shot are now getting a shot, but it just feels like they're walking it back to the days of big brother where Shima is sitting on the block across from Braden,

[00:28:30] who has said horrible things on the feeds about Julie, about the other people in the house using slurs and the vote tied. She barely survived that vote sitting next to it, like an open bigot. And you question how we end up right back where we came from and how, how far we've regressed, I guess, as a, as, as a game, but also as a society. As the CBS ownership goes, you know? Yup.

[00:29:01] By design. Yeah. So, yeah, that is why, like I said, they were, you know, big brother production and casting definitely wrong and definitely need to do a better job. I just don't hold out much hope, unfortunately that they will. Mm-hmm. So, and everybody who was calling for him to be removed from the show, I'm sorry, it's not going to happen. It's just not, they, they had to know when they put them on.

[00:29:30] They knew who they were casting. Mm-hmm. You know, I think people were comparing it to Love Island because Love Island, you can get dragged off of Love Island in a heartbeat. You know, I think they have a lot of bombshells waiting in the wings to take your spot, but taking somebody out of Big Brother just really can just like, it just throws off the game so much. And so on top of the fact that maybe the people who cast him didn't care as much, maybe the production doesn't care about these views, but also look at what it does to everybody's game. You know,

[00:30:00] everybody has to adjust at that point. And so I'm sure production is going to try to avoid that at all costs. Now, if he does something in the house and it, you know, and they, and we see it like we've seen with Luke in the past, then you, they, they normally act on that kind of stuff now, but not all the time. Right. Yeah. If the public sees it and there's public pressure, then they will do it. But only, only on those ifs. Mm-hmm. So, all right, well,

[00:30:30] we can move away from Kamaru and to the reason we're here, because Jason was not brought into Big Brother 28 as one of the previous player icons and indeed decided to go directly against them. That turned out to not be such a great idea, but was it the ultimate cause of his downfall? Or was it more the way he went about it and his own admitted messiness? And what other factors contributed to him leaving our TVs so soon? At RHAP,

[00:30:59] we know Big Brother and we know why Jason lost. Now, before getting into rule one, I do want to start with a bit of a preamble here. Because, and this kind of follows from what we were just talking about. There are absolutely legitimate game reasons for Jason to have been on the outs, which we'll get to momentarily. There are also illegitimate non-game reasons that Kamu very likely had in his head for targeting

[00:31:28] and, more importantly, treating Jason the way he did. As Taron pointed out in the Stockwatch, and of course, many of us already knew, and we literally just talked about it a couple minutes ago, Kamu has displayed some very anti-LGBTQ plus positions in real life. Not to mention some other horrendous opinions that, you know, like I just said, had even more of a spotlight shown on them on eviction day.

[00:31:55] That made much of this week and the discussion we're about to have more difficult. Because, like, I'm over here trying to focus on strategy. But lots of people instinctively side with Jason because of the non-strategy reasons. And I'm also one of them. So I'm kind of like torn in two here. Am I? Are we about to talk about a lot of things Jason did wrong? Yes.

[00:32:20] But that doesn't change the fact that Kamu still should not have treated him the way he did. And it's understandable why there were a lot of people rooting for Jason. And they still are. But for our purposes here, we just have to follow my own rule four and keep our emotions separate from the game. You make a really good point there in that we have to determine, you know, the strategy and put it over here

[00:32:48] and then the non-strategy and put it over there is a disservice to us, you know, as viewers, as podcasters, but also to the players. Let's say, um, if even let's, let's say Kamu, right? He's nobody's victim here in this situation. But if not for these posts and this man being put on the show, now people are able to look at those posts and say, oh, let's take this away from him, right? Let's, let's, let's detract the strategy portion of this and focus on the personal things. They're doing themselves a disservice

[00:33:17] because by putting people on those shows that have those views, it makes you wonder if it's personal or if it's, you know, something that, something outside of the game that that person doesn't agree with that you, that you exist in, um, that would make them target you. So it, it, it, um, it takes the game too. Cause now we don't know, you know, if it was this manufactured thing that he's just saying, because he has this other thing in the back of his mind, or if these are really things that he felt

[00:33:47] and he put all those things aside and that's, and we're just focusing strictly on gameplay. We'll never know. He, he obviously won't admit, uh, that that would be, that there could be anything external happening there. But because we know that there is a history of that side of behavior kind of being, um, promoted by this person, how can you be so sure? Right. Right. So we just have to analyze from the, you know, pure strategic, uh, type of, you know,

[00:34:16] objective overview, even though we know that there could have been these other factors, we could only go with what we know here. Yep. So with that, let's go to the rules. Starting of course, with the first and most important rule one, scheme and plot. Jason definitely. It's nothing. Okay. Okay. Jason definitely understood that he needed to do this. And he was the most clued in member of what I'm calling the uncoordinated side

[00:34:46] of the house. Um, maybe I call it the loser side of the house, whatever you want to call it. Uh, you know, but him being the best, it's kind of a low bar, but he picked up on what was going on long before the others did. And he called out every member of the tool shed at the tea party. Somehow this information still didn't get into the brains of the others because they were worried about drawing a line and dividing the house. Even after that, um, as I noted in a video,

[00:35:15] I posted where I ranted quite a bit about that. Uh, even Julie or her cue card intern noted that Jason seemed to have a really good handle on what was going on in the house. Yeah. He had no issues. Scheming and plotting that that's what I think. That's what drew him to the game is this idea that I can come in and I can strategize and I can be one of the best. This man is a fan of the show. And so those are the portions that really got him going. You know, we've seen people in the past say I'm a fan of the show

[00:35:45] and then they refuse to scheme and plot Adrian. But you know, this time around we got somebody who's like, nah, I came here to do just that. I want to target the, uh, the vets. I want to, uh, make alliances. I want to backstab people and really just embrace all the really fun parts of big brother that we've watched over the years. And so, uh, we got to give him credit for that one. Yeah. Yeah. Adrian still catching strays. I love it. Um, yeah. Now I'm not going to say Jason was perfect in this regard.

[00:36:12] He still took a while to figure out where things were. Uh, he discussed in his interviews, how he thought he was the one who sparked through into actually gaming by forming the gestures. But in fact, Drew was already solidly in the crossovers by that point. Uh, Jason did eventually figure it out. Telling Rome last week, the drum Baird are big survivor fans and could have been in an alliance with them the whole time. And also telling several people, he was concerned that Barrett was starstruck with Angela Devins and D so he did get it.

[00:36:42] He just maybe a little too late. Yeah. And you know, Julie even asked him in the exit press, why didn't you think to align with the other icons? Right. You know, Jason had the benefit or maybe the detriment of coming in as not an icon. Uh, but because of that, that's a natural bridge to those people. You could have schemed and plotted with those people and said, we are the reality TV people. Why is he not in the crossovers? But before we even get through the first week of television,

[00:37:10] we already hear Lala being like the vets gotta go. Jason being like the vets gotta go. Well, dang, you should have opened your mind up to playing with them. I know a lot of people said target the vets, target the vets, target the vets. But for somebody like Jason, who's a fan of this show, you have to know the vets are going to be advantaged while coming back in. And they are incentivized to stay together. All the rest of these people are incentivized to flip on you at any given time. The vets are like, let's hold hands and go to the end because there's a chance that these people won't vote for us.

[00:37:40] If we do sit at the end or we'll be sitting ducks. If one of us goes, the next one will follow. And so Jason, he was scheming and plotting, but he wasn't scheming and plotting with the right people all the time. Yeah. I mean, like you said, he's a fan. We have seen time and time again, that whenever there are returning players, it is best to be on their side, not openly against them. And, and then, yeah, there's the question that you brought up of why, Jason didn't join in and Julie told him, Oh,

[00:38:09] you are a reality icon too. I know there's the issue that production decided how he came in and we'll, we'll get to that in a moment, but as to why he didn't tell them, I just think he mishandled it. He told Mike Bloom, it was a little hard because I had just as much reality TV-ness as them. So to dumb myself down was a little hard. I couldn't really own my star powerness.

[00:38:35] My whole full experience of life was ready to be used, but I didn't use it. I thought it would have implemented my game in a weird way. Personally, I think he still should have done it. One reason I thought he would do well. The reason that I picked him as my winner pick was, I thought he could play the middle of the icons and the normies. Instead, Drew and Barrett have been doing that. You know, he told Julie, he, he didn't reveal it because he thought it would work against him because it

[00:39:03] would have shown he was lying the entire time, which made me laugh a little because it's like, really? You might've shown you're lying. Oh no, that would have ruined your whole reputation. But, but aside from that, he could have said something from the start. So it wouldn't have been lying the whole time. At least tell the icons themselves. And, and then you could just start to get in with them. It wasn't a great call. I think it was just a, he,

[00:39:31] it was a bad read of how he wanted to play the game. I really do think it's that, that big brother fan instinct of, I can't let these vets beat us. They've played again. They've had their turn. I think in RuPaul's drag race, they say she already then had hers, you know, like they've already had their turn. And so you naturally like, let's go big game hunting. Let's take them out. And I, I think he had on blinders and that's all he could see. He had never even considered. What if I did bring them in?

[00:40:01] Cause he didn't have an answer for Julie. I, I had never seen somebody stumped like that, where it was just like, no, it looked like it had never even crossed his mind. He's just like, no, I didn't do it because I just didn't think it would work. It's like, but you tried everything else. You didn't try that. Yeah. Yeah. And so getting back to the question of why he was included as a regular house guest, I think it comes down. I mean, we don't have an answer to this, but I think it comes down to a few things. One,

[00:40:29] he probably applied as one rather than being contacted by production, like Devin's D and Angela were. Two, both he and Julie separately told Dalton Ross that he had made it clear to producers coming into the game that he wanted to experience big brother to get to know who he is as Jason, not as Selena. So it wouldn't have made sense for them to even offer it to him as one of the icons, because then there would have been an expectation that he'd all be all about Selena.

[00:41:00] And third, of course, this way, they didn't have to pay him any money to come. Like, I'm sure they paid D Devin's and Angela. Oh yeah. They got a good old stipend for sure. And Jason, it looked like it was bothering him at times that they were getting so much, so much attention. I guess I'd say like, it really looks like Rick Devin's got under his skin. Cause I think he thought I was, I'm going to be the showman here. And Devin's is over here being the showman. You know, I just feel like that, that part bothered him. And had he been able to really open himself up to the icons and you could

[00:41:30] have embraced that together, you know, imagine the joint slay, you know, it was like, I just feel like there was something there that you could have pulled off that you just didn't have your mind open to. So, you know, he, he gave it a good shot, David, but I just, I think that was like a clear other thing that you could have done. Hell, his friend, Frankie Grande pulled the same trick. You know, he's about to get voted out. And he just tells everybody he's Ariana Grande's brother. And all of a sudden the tide starts shifting and Frankie survived that round, you know, not to say that that's the only reason why,

[00:42:00] but it got people talking and he never really went to that, to that spot in his tool. I mean, yeah, he even, and until you mentioned it, I guess I just didn't, didn't, didn't think of it this way, but yeah, even at the very end, bring it up. Then you already know you're the target. You know, who cares if they, if it, if it shows that you've been lying the whole time, you already have the reputation of lying the whole time. So bring it up and say, Hey, you know, just so you know, I, I was on, you know, you talked about,

[00:42:30] I should go on drag race. I've been on drag race not once, but twice. And so really you should keep me because you just make up some reason, you know, to have more fun and I'll join up with you and whatever, but yeah, without might not have worked. But at that point, you really only needed to swing a couple of people. Mm-hmm. And I think Angela is the perfect person for him to have that conversation with. I think people have looked at her Instagram and saw that she does follow some drag queens.

[00:42:58] She does look very excited to be friends with a drag queen. Now I think she is a fan of RuPaul's drag race. I think if you do that, I think Angela is just as tight with you as she is with Devin's as she is with D. You see how she immediately went to them as the fan that she is and said, let's lock it in. And she has barely questioned those two people throughout the game. And he just didn't allow himself to get that type of energy from those people because he just didn't think about it.

[00:43:29] All right. Well, the second rule says not to scheme and plot too much and to keep your scheming secret. For the third week in a row, I feel that I have to reiterate, keep your scheming secret. This was obviously the biggest problem Jason had in terms of making things worse for himself, because as we just discussed, yes, he was scheming, but he just couldn't keep it to himself. He was by his own description, messy.

[00:43:58] And he got caught multiple times. And the worst part is that in his pregame interview, he said he was the Alliance queen on RuPaul's drag race, all-stars, but he knew he needed to be a little smarter about them. I thought that meant he learned his lesson. And would improve for big brother. I was so, so wrong. There's something about them showmen, you know,

[00:44:27] where they just can't help themselves. They just can't help themselves. I know I alluded to Dan Giesling and how he hides behind the scenes. It does a lot of his stuff in the diary room and talk, but he also a showman. Eventually he's going to have a big moment. You, they just can't help themselves. And I think somebody like Jason can't help himself. What's the point of scheming and plotting if the people around me aren't even able to be impressed by the fact that I'm scheming and plotting, you know, like everybody outside sees me.

[00:44:56] I'm making faces at the camera, but that's not the gratification I'm looking for. I need somebody to say, Oh yeah, Jason do that again. That was great. You know, like he's a performer. He needs applause. And he was looking for it. So he was telling people what he was doing. And it just kept getting around the house to the point where by the time this vote happened, nobody trusted him. It'd be like, yeah, you're just telling us everything. Like, even if I wanted to trust you, you're telling us everything we want to hear. You're telling everybody that. And I don't know what you would actually do. So.

[00:45:28] Those lights come on, the microphones are hot and he's going to perform every time. Yeah. Yeah. And of course, you know, you mentioned these, the first big instance was of course, when he fake cried with Angela or maybe real cried, but then turned the rest to his advantage. Either way, he had to tell the story to drew and melody, giving them all the details about how he was playing her. And of course, he tried to do the same thing with Devin's by making a treat for his daughter's birthday. And after it all came out, Jason said, my smile to the camera was messy.

[00:45:57] And I think we may have mentioned this last week. It's like, no, you telling other people about your smile to the camera is what was messy. He just didn't realize it because Angela covered for drew by saying she saw it in the mirror. And at that point, it was clear to one and all how, how bad his gameplay was there. As Julie said, you told everyone everything. And Jason replied, Hmm, maybe that was the problem. Maybe I was playing too hard, too early. Maybe. No, definitely.

[00:46:27] Especially considering the specifics of who he was targeting. The icons. We saw him claiming Devin's would backstab people from the moment. Rick walked into the house. He kept talking about wanting to go after them, specifically telling drew melody again as part of the discussion. So of course it didn't take long for drew to run upstairs and, and spill the beans. As Devin said, upon hearing it, I thought he was in a great spot, but now it sounds like he's really going to be overplayed. This is the same. Jason,

[00:46:57] that was telling Rome, you know, uh, Barrett drew their survivor fans. They're probably going to talk to the survivor players and want to do that. So, yeah, they are Jason. They are survivor fans. So maybe don't tell them incriminating information that the survivor players could use against you. You know, just let's start there, you know? And so he couldn't help himself. I knew it would be fun to watch for sure. And he definitely was. He gave us drama,

[00:47:24] but drama is not the easiest way to win big brother. Sometimes we see dramatic winners, right? Like the Rachel Riley's of the world where it's, it's rough, you know, they have to save themselves every week. They're fighting. You're calling Rachel dramatic. I don't understand. In the most complimentary way, David, the lady is a star, but that star power comes with a price. Yeah. Yeah. And, and he just, like you said, I think he couldn't stop himself because even after the whole Angela fiasco,

[00:47:54] he kept right on going. He told Mike Bloom, I kind of was playing every group, the Kamu, Haley, Chuck trio, the icons trio. And then I had everyone else on the other side. I had my hand in every pot and I wanted to see which pot would accept me. If one turned, I can go with them. If they took me, if they all turned, I can go with these kids who would trust me, but ultimately no one trusted me. So none of the spaghetti stuck to the wall. And look, I get, he was in a bad position after being called out for being untrustworthy. He was looking for a home,

[00:48:23] but the way to do that. But the way to do that is not to become more untrustworthy. And look, I know I've seen some people saying the others have no right to complain because about Jason, because they're all in multiple alliances too. Sure. The difference. Jason got caught badly, repeatedly. And by the people in power. Yes. Hypocrisy runs rampant in big brother and survivor in these games.

[00:48:51] But when you're not in power and the hypocrite is in power, they're the ones who get to decide what's okay from a gameplay perspective. We'll say it. All right. Well, I could go through and list a whole bunch of times. Jason said things to people that he shouldn't have, but we've already got, we don't need to hit every single point. We'd be here for a long time. However, one thing that definitely came back to bite him was him telling each of the nominees that if he played for veto,

[00:49:20] he'd use it on them and telling us that he was doing it because he knew he was the backdoor target and wanted to have the most opportunities, which makes sense. But again, people talked and it just seems that he never fully learned that part. He didn't care. I think once he had gotten so much like that stench on him of, I can't be trusted. He just started doing whatever he wanted. You know, he wasn't a part of a big alliance. He knew that he could have gone home the week before, you know,

[00:49:49] he had lost all his people. And so by this time he's doing what you should be doing, which is tell him, yeah, pick me for the veto. I need to win the veto, but at all costs, I need to be in the veto competition. I get that. But the issue is that you don't have the social capital to keep people from going and ratting you out. And they knew you were the backdoor target already. So they have more information than he did. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. All right. Well, the third rule talks about the need to be flexible. How would you say Jason did here?

[00:50:23] It's tough because he was willing to kind of, he was willing to do a bunch of stuff, right? So you're trying a bunch of stuff, like you said, trying to see what sticks to the wall. But that's not, that's not quite what I'm looking for in flexibility for someone like Jason. I think his natural inclination is to do those things. He should be flexible and saying, these things aren't working. Let me try something else. And I think the something else is what he struggled with. You know, the refusal to work with the vets, the refusal to find an ally and just be a hundred percent in with that

[00:50:53] one person. It never felt like he hit that mark. And maybe that one person wasn't in the house for him. Maybe he couldn't find his person, but flexibility to me means that you're willing to do other things outside of your normal behavior to make things work for you. And he, he wasn't able to get out of that messy pocket that he was in. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I mean, to have flexibility, you need to start with a base point and go from there. And I just don't think he ever had that base. I think he had some opportunities to form one,

[00:51:22] but he just never got it done. And like you said, his refusal to work with the, with the icons that is inflexibility. You know, he later said, or he said in an interview, well, I later tried to, and it didn't work out. Well, it didn't work out because you had been so vociferous about not wanting to. So of course it didn't work out. Yeah. Yeah. No, not after the tea party. Yeah. He out that whole alliance at the tea party. Right. Oh yeah. At that point, why are we keeping you around? We can't,

[00:51:50] you can't even benefit us as a secret, as a spot. Cause everybody knows we're all together. Or at least you, you have aired us out already. We can't trust you again. So he just, it was a little too late for something like that. I think he came in wanting to play one way and then just kind of got lost on that trajectory and was never able to course correct. Yeah. All right. Well, the fourth rule says players should not let their emotions control them. We know Jason got emotional in the house a few times, some for real, some maybe, maybe not. But the key question is, did that affect his game?

[00:52:20] I felt like he was poised in positions where he should have been, where it would have been understandable if he was more emotional, you know, thinking about the tea party moment where he really did do a good job of not allowing that moment with, between him and Kamu to overwhelm him and put him in a position where he was falling apart. You know, he was able to really advocate for himself and say, no, y'all are being hypocrites. These are things that are happening to speak up, to tell his truth. And then even with the,

[00:52:50] with the, you know, making the noise the next day. I think that that wasn't an emotional response. That was him trying to like, really trying to embrace that moment and trying to turn it around where it could have been an emotional response. Right. So I'll give him credit for that. But, you know, you have to wonder how many of his emotions drove the idea that he didn't want to work with the vets, you know, or that he had to be the showman. We saw that he had resentment for Rick Devins. We saw that he had resentment for other people in the house when they got attention.

[00:53:20] And so I think there was a lot of him that, of his emotions that were seeping into the gameplay for sure. Yeah. And following up on those types of emotions, I do have to wonder if another part of his emotions caused some of this because it seemed like he was a bit bored early on. And I do think that links to the showman aspect. And some of his interviews appeared to suggest that as well as a reason he told Drew and Melody about what he pulled with Angela and Devins,

[00:53:49] the Selena part of him was trying to get out and have fun. Now, other times I do think, like you said, he did well playing on Angela's and Devins emotions while knowing he was doing it for game reasons could have been a great move, but then we have to go back to rule two. If he hadn't revealed it, maybe he would have gotten himself closer to them and it would have worked. He had half the plan down. Yeah.

[00:54:18] You would think somebody who cried as much as Jason did, we would automatically default to, they were an emotional player, but I think they, I think he probably lacked more emotion than he should, you know, than he actually should have had. Right. He should have been able to really connect with those people a lot better. And maybe he couldn't, again, maybe his person wasn't in the house. He is the one, the one queer person I think that they've identified in the house. He's also a drag queen. That's a big dude. You know, he looks like physically imposing to,

[00:54:47] as far as challenges goes. So maybe a lot. And he's 35, which is not older, but is older than most of the non icons. Yeah. And so I don't know if there's a part of him who's like, these are my people. So I can't, I can't give myself to them, but I wish he had, you know, I wish he was able to, because I think he would have done better. Yeah. All right. Well, the fifth rule says players need to pretend to be nice and play the social game.

[00:55:11] And I think Jason did generally well in terms of both pretending to be nice and also actually being nice and having some genuine relationships. I mean, one of them was Angela, the person, one of the people he had pretended to be nice to. And she still held on to him from a personal perspective, even after all he had done game wise, which is really bizarre because she's been literally hating on drew.

[00:55:39] Who's actually helped her in the game and wants to continue doing so. But she says, when she looks at Jason and he talks to her, he's so genuine. This is a perfect example though, of one of Jason's problems. One of the people that he seemed to have the best relationship with was Angela, but she was still intent on getting him out because of how he played the game. He could not convert that relationship into, actual social game. Yeah. I don't think anybody, well,

[00:56:08] I won't say anybody, but the majority of the house liked him as far as not wanting to vote him out. They weren't happy to see him go from a gameplay standpoint. Yeah. Except the red hat. I was corny. Yeah. Them. Except them. Everybody seemed legitimately torn about the relationship with Jason deteriorating. But you know, that's not enough. You know, that's, that's the social game. But how did you, how do you make that? How do you use that influence that you have over people to, for, for,

[00:56:37] to further your game? He could have, but you got to go back to your other rule, David. He kept, he was pretending to be nice being nice, but then he was telling people, Oh yeah, but I'm really this, the big bad wolf. I'm nefarious. You know, the, the Rick Devons, what was it? Cookies that he was making for his slop rice, crispy treats. That's a nice thing to do. That's even a pretend to nice, a pretend, you know, imaginary nice thing to do if you're not actually meaning to be nice,

[00:57:05] but then you want to tell everybody that you weren't being nice. So it, it really, you're like shooting yourself in the foot. Every time you get a little momentum or do something in the right way. Right. That one rule is really hindering him. It's like an anchor. Yeah. Now, the other thing is even with the people in the, what did I call them? The uncoordinated side of the house, they couldn't get the votes together because they, they wanted him as a weapon, but that would have been all he was. He had a good relationship with some of them,

[00:57:35] like Lyric, especially, but not as much with most of the rest of them, or at least not enough for them to put their own necks on the line for someone they called unpredictable in the game. And many people, and we've, we've already brought this up. You've already brought this up. Many people have talked about how difficult it must be for him to have been the only LGBTQ plus person in there. And, you know, there's, we talked about casting. They need to do better.

[00:58:04] They probably won't, but they should. So Jason likely knew this was going to be the case when he applied. But he is a fan. He knows the way casting is done. I'm not entirely sure how someone can fully prepare themselves for being completely split from the people they spend a large part of their time with, even more so than most. I'm in no position to judge who it may or may not affect more.

[00:58:31] And it almost certainly has a lot to do with each individual who they're used to being around, but I guarantee he's not used to being around people like Kamu and Haley. But then he also told Dalton Ross, this was an opportunity for me to really get to know myself in an environment. I probably would never put myself. I think that was the biggest struggle being in the house was being outside of my gay bubble and then being thrown in with younger people, straight people.

[00:59:00] That's not what I do in my life ever. And I think I did learn a lot about myself being in the house. Yeah. His preseason press, he said he wanted to align with the straight guys. That was his exact quote, you know, and he got in the house and I think maybe just got a little overwhelmed by looking around and not being able to find a group that made him feel good. But to your point, he knows this going in. I was critical of Captain Will last season because Captain Will was saying, I'm the oldest guy in the house, you know,

[00:59:29] and kind of complaining about that. Same thing with Lala this season. I can't really bond with these people. I'm the oldest person in the house. You knew you were going to be the oldest person in the house when you got cast on the show. You know, I think the, the probably the only person who's ever been cast on this show who thought they were going to be the oldest and wasn't was like, maybe Sari because Felicia was there, you know? And so it's like, when you get cast as the older person, you know, that's an obstacle that you're going to have to overcome. You know, that coming in when you're going to be the only anything, you know,

[00:59:59] that's an obstacle that you're going to have to overcome, especially if you're a fan of the show. And so I, you know, I give them grace because it's a tough spot to be in, but it's not a, it's not a just rare spot. Like that is, that is the spot that many people in his position have found themselves in, in big brother. And unless they're going to cast more people, you got to start to be flexible and play the game that's in front of you. Yeah. I mean, I had a person tell me a person who's approximately my age that they made it to what they believed was the final round of casting. And then we're told, Nope, sorry,

[01:00:29] we, we don't need you this season. Well, I think that's because they got Lala and Angela. And so they had their two older people, you know, which is one more than they often have. And, uh, you know, people sometimes ask me, David, would you play big brother? Oh, so I can be the token old guy, you know? And I, you know, I don't consider myself old, but 35 in this game is old. And let me tell you, I'm older than 35. I'm almost the same age as Lala. So,

[01:00:59] no, I'm not going to play and do that because I know what would happen. You know, I know, well, I went to comp almost certainly not. Maybe, maybe, maybe there's a mental comp, you know, that I'll be able to, but it's just, it's a young person's game like it or not, because that's the way they aim it. And it's, you know, it's that way for a whole bunch of different boxes that they put people in. Yeah. Um,

[01:01:28] you got it. You got to be able to roll with the punches. And I think that's one that's going to, that's one that casting has not quite figured out how to mitigate. There are people who have made it far, you know, but they have to figure out a way to bond with the younger people, you know, like captain wheel is one of them. Cliff hogg is another one where they had to figure out a way to bridge that gap. Uh, you know, Andy Heron had to figure out a way to bridge the gap. You know, certain people have to figure out a way to make themselves fit in with the crowd, even if they are not naturally in that crowd, it's a tough spot. It's something that, you know, like I said,

[01:01:57] I want to give you a lot of leeway because that's not a good spot to be in. But at the same time, that's your red wagon. You got to pull it. Yeah. Yeah. Now, another area of the social game where I wish Jason would have taken a deeper look at himself. You already brought this up. His worry about camera time because he showed so much jealousy of others, mostly aimed at Devin's. Earlier, we saw him on live feeds talking about Devin's and saying,

[01:02:25] Devin's is an effing drag queen because he's a stage whore who loves the spotlight. He said he knew Devin's could sense that same energy in Jason and was threatened by it. And he said he hated that Devin's was loved by America. All. And it's like, it just all sounds very much like a Jason problem, not a Devin's problem. And yet he kept going with it as a perfect example. Even as I was glad to see him putting up a fight at the tea party,

[01:02:55] he didn't need to pop off at Devin's and claim, Oh, I'm a threat to you because I'm entertaining. And Devin's just was like, you could tell not only was Devin's denying it, but Devin's was confused by even the assertion of it. I, I wanted to give Jason some leeway in that moment because he was understandably emotional after what had just happened, but it was an ongoing theme and it even carried into the exit press.

[01:03:23] He said something to Julie about it right away. Later told Mike Bloom, I think they really clocked my showmanship and my star quality. And I think that was very threatening to that. He said to Dalton Ross, I honestly feel like the other icons felt threatened by my showmanship. I could feel Devin's seething every time I had the spotlight, I could feel him wanting the spotlight myself. It, it just sounds so much like Angela's feelings about Drew supposedly hating her.

[01:03:51] All of Jason's feelings about Devin's are only in his own head. And I, I really think it impacted his ability to even consider working with. No, that's a good point. I didn't see a lot of people making that point about the tea party moment, but I caught it too. And I saw, I think I saw your video that you did where it's the question is, you know, am I a threat? So yes. And he's like, Oh, am I a threat to you? Devin in like to your entertainment wise, you know? And it's like, wait a minute.

[01:04:21] Rick is saying you're a threat in the game. You are threatening in the game, but his mind was on. Yeah, I knew it. I knew it all along that you, you were threatened by this, my star power. It's like, no, no, get out of your own head. You're doing this to yourself. Yeah. It is what it is. You know, like he's calling Devin's a drag queen, but I think in a weird way, it's, it's almost like a term of endearment. It's it's with some, he's saying it with a little spite, but at the same time,

[01:04:46] he's acknowledging that there is somebody in here who also can feel the spotlight like he can. And it's threatening to him. And he was, you know, thinking that maybe he was threatening to Devin's in that light. Well, we've never heard Devin say that. So we just got to go by what we've seen and heard. It doesn't look like that's the case. It does look like this was something that he manufactured in his own brain. And not only does it not look like the case, I mean, we have seen Devin's on two previous seasons of survivor. And while yes,

[01:05:14] he has done things to entertain. We've never seen any indication that he was jealous of anyone else. Entertaining. Yeah. Sorry, Jason. It's not like, it's not like he saw coach doing haikus and ran in there and said, Oh wait, I've got all my haikus too. Here they are, you know? So yeah. Now one more thing before we leave this rule, I wasn't even going to mention him banging on the teapot, but I suppose we, we should at least bring it up here.

[01:05:43] Obviously not good social gameplay, but also just as obviously he was already toast. It literally didn't matter one bit. So it didn't hurt him or help him. And I very much suspect he knew that the die was cast at that point. He was either winning blockbuster or getting evicted. So I won't even fault him for that, but I will, I would have voted him out. I would have voted him out. I hate when somebody disturbs my peace. When he starts to bang in that, like I've, I've never been a fan of Josh Martinez's big brother game because it was so heavily reliant on that.

[01:06:13] You know, that was such a, that was a recurring theme. When I saw it, I had PTSD. When I saw him do that, I was like, Oh no, I'm not doing this every week. I'm not doing this. You know, it makes the feeds hard to watch. It makes the show hard to watch. You know? And I personally would have hated that. He would have lost my vote. Even if I was going to, to the vote to keep him, there's no way by the time he finished banging on those, that tea kettle that I would have been able to put that to side. And that's just me. And I'm a pretty like, like amicable guy, you know,

[01:06:42] like I don't really put up a fight about too many things. That would have pissed me off. So it would annoy you if I sat here. If it was a little bit louder, I think you would take me out the game. I might've left the podcast, but yeah, it's, it's not a good social game play. It's, it's something it's doing something when you probably feel powerless, but I don't think that's how you win friends and influence people. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, we can move on to rule six, which says not to be too much of a threat.

[01:07:12] And here we see how some of the topics we've already discussed piled up against Jason. For example, even last week, despite Angela appearing to have made up with Jason and even promising a deal on live feeds where she wouldn't vote him out. She still wanted him gone. She never intended to follow through with that. D kept bringing up melody as an option. Again, this was the prior week and Angela just wouldn't go with it.

[01:07:38] She knew how Jason had tricked her and worried he could do it again to go after D or Devin's. And pretty much everyone in the tool shed felt he was best at comps on the other side because he had won a safety comp. He was close in the veto. And then of course he won a blockbuster. But all that did was contribute to other feelings. Like Drew said, he didn't want to keep Jason because he worried he'd be the next Keanu and make it to final five.

[01:08:08] And trust me, we didn't want to see another Keanu either. Though I do have to say, Drew, it's not a great comparison because Jason, as we have discussed, actually understood the game and where everyone was in the house, which is nothing you ever could have said about. Yeah. Yeah. And those things that you said don't inherently make you a threat to everyone. Him winning challenges makes you an asset in a lot of ways, but it's the way you were going about these wins and the way you're going about the times when you're not winning these challenges because yeah,

[01:08:37] you're a challenge beast. Great. We need those. We need to work with the challenge bees. We need to win HOH. That's perfect. I love to work with you, but I keep hearing that you're throwing my name out. I keep hearing that you're telling other people that things that I told you and I keep hearing it saying, and now I know you're scheming and plotting too much. And now you sound threatening because when you win, I don't know. I can't trust that you're going to work with me. I can't trust that you're going to be my asset. MJ was a great, great challenge threat. She was perfect for Chelsea, but specifically for Chelsea, you know,

[01:09:06] everybody else should have seen her as a threat that they needed to remove from the game because they did not have her ear the same way Chelsea did. Jason was not able to be an asset to everybody because he was too threatening by the way he was playing socially and strategically. Yeah. And I mean, this came up on the live feeds immediately after the eviction, even with Drew telling D and Barrett that Jason was a good guy, but he was unpredictable. You know, that's the exact type of behavior.

[01:09:37] D added that it was for everyone really that he was unpredictable. So, you know, she was just taking the word. She was stealing your lines. Yeah. If you're like you said, if you're unpredictable for everyone, nobody can count on you. You become a threat. And then one other way he was a threat was because we've already talked about. He knew the layout of the game.

[01:10:02] Devins told D he wanted to keep basically the not so smart players like Yash and Chuck and Haley and get rid of the people who got it like Jason. We've seen people in the past come in the big brother house and say, I'm not going to tell people I'm a super fan. I don't want people to think I'm a super fan. People can think I'm an average fan of the game, but it does help you in keeping your threat level down. Whereas Jason kind of stepped into that almost like a leadership role of, I know what I'm doing.

[01:10:31] Let me tell y'all what we're going to do when it comes to targeting the vets. Let me lace you up on their, you know, their dossiers. I can tell you all about them, you know, in it. And when, although it looks like you are being an asset, people are also seeing, Oh, you would be tough to beat. And I think there's no, at no point was anybody thinking if I sit by Jason at the end, I can probably win the game. If Jason made it to the end, as messy as that game could have been, I think he still would have got a bunch of votes. You know, I mentioned Rachel Riley earlier,

[01:10:58] but people like the entertaining gameplay, the, the, the feistiness of I had to win when my back was against the wall and everything was against me. And that story could have led to them losing to Jason every time. And it was just very clear with the way he was playing the game that that really could have been his trajectory if they didn't get him out. Yep. All right. Well, the seventh rule says to trust almost nobody. And, you know, we've discussed it already,

[01:11:26] but Jason definitely trusted too many of the wrong people. And they spread around what he said. Some of them did it intentionally. Some did it by accident. Like when his deal offers for the veto got told to melody by someone else. And then melody ran it back to common. So yeah, we, you know, we've covered a lot of that already. For sure. You can't trust everybody. And I think he wasn't holding his cards close enough to his chest in general, because he wanted people to know the cool stuff he was doing.

[01:11:56] And he wanted to have those moments of, you know, the little, the little kiki behind the scenes, you know, we let's talk, let's chat. About the things that's going on. I mean, it's gotta be boring in there. There's no TV, you know? And so as a person, I mean, both of us, we watch a lot of TV. I don't know what I would do in that house. I talk my, I talk until I have a voice. And so I don't blame him because that's probably hard to do, but he definitely did it. He definitely, he definitely, he definitely did not. He trusted way too many people with just the smallest thing, but also the big stuff.

[01:12:26] Yeah. Another reason that if, you know, when people say, would you ever go play big brother? No TV for three months. No way. Right. Tommy. Now I will say in some cases, he knew telling someone else was a big risk. Like when he told D that she should keep him. So he could go after the Chagmu side. And for those of you not up on the lingo, that's the Chuck, Thog and Kimu side. And as a second, by the way, Thog is Haley. So that's Chagmu.

[01:12:55] Then he also told Thog that he should, that she should keep him. So he could go after the icons. Now, was it likely that they would all talk about it and he'd get in trouble? Sure. But he was already in big trouble by that point. And if either side had decided it sounded good. Well, then he might have something he could work with. The risk was very low because of where he already stood. The potential reward. Very high. He had already burned so many bridges with the way that they didn't trust him

[01:13:24] that even if he was putting his trust into people, it was, it was misguided. It was too late. I think you use those first couple days where it's long days. You're getting to know each other to really establish that trust. And then those are the people you can tell these things to. But two weeks in after you've already been caught several times, blowing up and, or having, you know, your, your secrets leaking. Yeah. Of course, now you can't trust anybody. Can't trust anybody at this point because they, you've given them so many reasons not to trust you.

[01:13:53] Yeah. All right. Well, with that is about time to wrap things up. So what are your final thoughts about Jason? Oh, I'm so sad that he's gone. I just, the, we don't like a steamroll in this game. We don't like when the same side wins over and over and over again. You can look at any season, the big brother or even a survivor where it's just like one person is just dominating the entire time. It's really hard to get through those seasons because it's just boring.

[01:14:20] And so somebody like Jason who just refuses to be boring. I kind of like it. I like, I like that. He just, I have to be good. I have to be entertaining. Problem is that doesn't always make the big, the best big brother player because it violates so many rules. A lot of it is just picking your spot and choosing to be quiet, choosing to lay low, choosing to not be a big threat. All the rules are kind of the antithesis of what Jason wants to be as a,

[01:14:49] as a character in big brother. So he gave it a good shot. Like I said, we were high on them. I would love to see him go further and I would love to see what he looked like on a different game. I think that we might've wasted his talents here on big brother, put them on the traders. Why not? Sure. Sure. They always need, they always have a drag queen on the traders, but two, but at least two. Try that. Try two of them. Cause he, all that whispering and stuff. Yeah. That's the, that be messy on the traders.

[01:15:18] Don't be messy on big brother. Yeah. Well, I noted at the beginning of the podcast that a week ago, I was rooting for Jason to go because he was playing so messy, even though he was my pregame winner pick. But then what we saw happen with him and to him changed my mind. And from that standpoint, I like many others would have preferred that he stay. The thing is the game doesn't care what we think out here, except of course, for those BB time capsule powers. So we have to deal with what was given to us. And boy, did Jason give us a lot,

[01:15:48] both in terms of his personality and his gameplay, except the gameplay was not just a lot. It was way too much. Jason did plenty of things to make himself an early target. Most of them involved just saying too many of the wrong things to too many of the wrong people openly plotting against the most powerful players in the house, including when they were HOH and going beyond what some people consider to be typical gameplay by trying to use their emotions against them.

[01:16:16] Then after he was exposed for all that and survived, he still didn't really slow down much. If at all. I saw a lot of people saying Jason was called out just for playing big brother, scheming and plotting in line. And Jason defended himself at the tea party by saying, am I horrible for trying to play a game? But the problem with both of these is he was doing it poorly. He was focused all on rule one, where he did indeed have a good grasp of the game,

[01:16:46] although he had problems there too, as we discussed, but he seemed to not pay any attention at all to rule two. He schemed too much. He got caught repeatedly in no way. Does that justify how Kamu handled it? But even if Kamu hadn't pulled that stunt, Jason was headed out the door anyway, which incidentally makes Kamu doing that even worse because it was simply unnecessary.

[01:17:14] Jason was a fun addition to big brother, and I wish he could have stayed longer, but almost all his gameplay guaranteed that wouldn't happen. On top of the main problems we've discussed, he was too unpredictable. He couldn't turn his relationships into social game credibility. But even much of that traced back to just being seen as untrustworthy because he showed how much he was willing to scheme and lie. And that is why Jason lost.

[01:17:44] Pour one out. Yes. Yes. All right. Well, be sure everyone to stay tuned. We're not done yet because we have our spoiler free predictions in a moment. But first, a few other pieces of information. I, of course, want to mention that the rules we were referencing here are similar to the survivor rules, and you can get those rules on a shorter and much more colorful version, uh, as a poster. You can go to rob, his website.com slash YX lost feed,

[01:18:14] scroll down to it and click on it and order it. Uh, they also come in t-shirt form. And also a checklist form, which I'm wearing today, although you can't see most of it, especially if you're in the audio version, then you can't see any of it, but, uh, you can get any of those. And again, I know these are the survivor versions. I know, but it's, it's what we've got for right now. Uh, also since big brother is a 24 seven game,

[01:18:42] make sure you follow us on social media to get all of our full thoughts throughout the week. I post videos every day on Tik TOK, YouTube, and Instagram where I'm at David Bloomberg TV. I have been making about three videos per day with, uh, fun stuff from the show and the live feeds, my thoughts on what's happening. You can find all of those accounts at, uh, link tree slash David Bloomberg, uh, where you can just, you know, like I said, see all the different places that I am, including blue sky,

[01:19:10] where both of us make our social media homes. And we encourage everyone else to do likewise for your big brother discussions. I've said it before. So many major accounts have moved there. It's a lot of fun. We're seeing more and more people come there every day. So join us there. No, it really is a great time. Uh, I am at Chappelle's kickback on blue sky and David is at David, Bloomberg. You can also find me at recap, kickback on all social media platforms, including blue sky, where I'm, uh, uh,

[01:19:39] posting about all of my podcasts that I'm doing. Uh, currently Mario and I are still doing house of the dragon. Uh, we finished the vampire list that already, but we're still, you know, knee deep in house of the dragon. I'm probably going to have some more content coming your way as well. Chantel and I are still talking about rock of love, uh, live on Sundays. And that is a good time. You don't want to miss that. If you can go subscribe, uh, youtube.com slash at recap, kickback. We're keeping up on 3000 subscribers, David. And so, um,

[01:20:06] hopefully more people will come from this podcast, but also from the slop and, uh, for BB unlocked, I'm hosting both of those with Rob, uh, well slot with Rob behind the paywall and will BB unlocked. I really don't know who I'm going to be talking about. Big brother unlocked unlocked with, uh, last time it was Izzy this time TBD. So, uh, check that out and, um, yeah, make sure you are a patron of RHIP. All right. Yes. Um,

[01:20:37] so predictions, as I had said, we write these up before the HOH comp, uh, I mean, which is good because, I went to bed before the HOH comp. So, uh, you know, there's no chance of a spoiler coming from this. Um, now we've mentioned before that I tend to base my predictions on what I think will happen and you tend to base them on what you want to happen. So it's a good, it's a good pairing. Uh, I,

[01:21:04] I suspect that's going to continue here because I think power is going to stay in the hands of the tool shed specifically. I think it's going to circle around and D is going to be a little bit going to win HOH again. And things are going to get ugly because Angela's paranoia has spread with such power that I mentioned this before. D and Devin's seem to be fully on board. They're tired of Drew and to a lesser extent, Barrett.

[01:21:32] They were even kind of hoping that Jason would win blockbuster. So it would force Drew and Barrett to take a side in the vote. Although, you know, by that time, I think it was pretty clear. Mallory would have gone. So it wouldn't have mattered. It wouldn't have shown what they wanted anyway, but still the point is those two didn't have a further chance to show their loyalty beyond, you know, all the times they've shown their loyalty that don't seem to matter. Anyway, I think this will lead to D backdooring drew.

[01:22:01] I think she'll nominate Mallory melody and probably Lala. And that way, if the veto isn't used, at least they could take out one of drew and Barrett's links to the other side and Mallory or melody. And if it is used, she can blind sell the hell blind side, the hell out of drew the risk. There are only 11 votes. So that means there are only five for certain members of the tool shed voting.

[01:22:30] If it pisses off Barrett and the others actually unify, they could keep drew. The problem is by being up against one of those three women at the end, I don't think there will be enough people. They won't be anti drew so much as they will be pro Mallory melody or Lala, and they won't want to sacrifice them. So I think drew is going to be sent packing. Oof. Yikes. Yeah, I know.

[01:22:56] So we're actually almost aligned in that. I do think the power is going to stay with the tool shed, but I think it's with you. You said, this is what you want. Come on. I'm not actually against it though. Cause I think it's Angela. And I think, but it's going to be very similar to what you were saying about D we don't want to steamroll where one side is winning everything, but if they're attacking themselves, that's better for the game too. You know, as long as they're not punching down at the people who can't, like you said, the uncoordinated group, there's like blob of people over there,

[01:23:26] but yeah, let's get some infighting in the tool shed. Let's, let's spice this up. And so I'm definitely hoping that Angela will win and go through with this thing that she's been itching to do so much. She's been dying to get drew on the block and to get him out. I think she needs to get the blood on her hands herself. I could see maybe drew going just because if somebody like Mallory is on the block, which I really don't even think Angela would do, but if somebody like Mallory is on the lock, she's,

[01:23:56] she's good at competitions. I've seen enough from the pipe queen and now the tape queen where I'm good at engineering related competitions. That's what's been proven so far. She's taking her real world skillset and putting it to work here. Okay. And because of that, I don't, I don't even know if I could pick drew as a front runner for the blockbuster if it comes to it. So I don't know who's going to end up on the block, but I definitely know that drew is going to be targeted and I wouldn't be shocked if he went home. Yeah. Wow. All right.

[01:24:25] We're on the same page in the end, whether we like it or not, you know, so all right, as we wrap things up, I want to encourage people to check out the RHAP patron program at Rob has a website.com slash patron. In addition to the Facebook groups and discord, Rob has several patron only podcasts, a podcast for big brother, including the one you just mentioned, the slop. I love the slop. It gives me a chance to go be crazy over there and then come here and talk about strategy. Such a good idea to get, you know, to get to do both of those things.

[01:24:55] And you can definitely support shows like the slop and ours and others by becoming a patron. Rob has a website. And make sure you subscribe to all the RHAP podcasts that we know, big brother.com where you can select your podcast service of choice and you get, you know, the live feed updates, the other big brother podcasts, and of course us. And we want to thank Scott St. Pierre, Jess Sterling, and the whole RHAP family, the reality wrap ups family for all the work that everybody does. All right. Well,

[01:25:26] I would like to add to that. Thanks for to you Chappelle for another great episode about a difficult topic and a difficult week, you know, but like I said earlier, we had to do what we had to do. And I think we, I think we accomplished it well, if I do say so myself. Now, this was a good time and I'm very much looking forward to see who loses next. So we can, you know, have this conversation again next week. That's right. And in the meantime, of course, you know, like we said,

[01:25:55] find us on social media so you can get all of our thoughts in the moment as things are happening. But otherwise, we'll see everybody in about a week. Bye.
