BB28 Wednesday Veto Ep Recap, Week 10

BB28 Wednesday Veto Ep Recap, Week 10 Also available on YouTube. Big Brother 28 is in full swing, with shifting alliances and new deals creating tension as the house edges closer to a crucial double eviction. With Rob out of town, Taran Armstrong is joined by Kirsten MacInnis and Aman Adwin for this recap episode, […]

[00:00:10] And welcome to Rob Has A Podcast. We are here tonight to talk about this two hour or 13 hour Wednesday night Veto episode of Big Brother 28. I'm your host, Taran Armstrong. And with me tonight, we have some lovely guests. First, we have Aman. How you doing, Aman? Hey, hey. Happy to be here talking about the pressure cooker yet again. So happy.

[00:00:40] Don't do this to me. Also with us, it's Kirsten. How you doing, Kirsten? I'm doing great. This is perfect. You had me the day before the Veto. I'm on the day after the Veto. So we all just had to have a family reunion to celebrate that competition. Yes, yes, we are here. And we're gonna talk about this episode with two hours of content.

[00:01:08] I think that honestly, for a two hour episode, I would normally be dreading it, especially this late into the season. But they did, I think, plan for it accordingly.

[00:01:20] We had an appropriately long Veto competition and appropriately long segments or segments for said Veto competition. So that actually helped, I think, a bunch. Obviously, we get a couple of those like Fokker segments thrown in as well. But we also had the family segment in this one, which I thought was nice. So I think for a two hour episode, not bad.

[00:01:47] Yeah, I mean, I think I was really engaged. And I think, you know, just the fact that there is some level of intrigue at this point in the game also lends well to having a bit of a longer episode. So yeah, I think, you know, for two hours, not bad. Not bad at all. Yeah, I think the last 90 minute episode I covered felt longer than this two hour one. So like, that's great. That's great news. The pacing was better.

[00:02:15] Yes. And I did. I did feel like the Veto competition was, as I said, appropriately lengthy in time spent on it. And it felt long. It felt epic. And really, the only thing I missed from it was that, guys, Yash was so sick.

[00:02:34] Like, not in the, like, cool way, but in the, like, actually ill. No, that's also sometimes cool. Like, he was actually coughing and, like, he felt he had a sickness. He has an upper respiratory situation. Yeah. Yeah. Why do those words mean cool? It sucks to be sick. I mean, I think it's one of those things where it's like you're, like, reclaiming it. Yeah. Yeah. You know what?

[00:03:03] You're so sick that it's healthy again. You know? Just like a target so big it disappears. Exactly. Exactly. But, Jaren, don't talk about it too much. You're going to get me in trouble again. People were not happy with me. Oh, no. Wait, they weren't happy with what? Your take was the people stay home when they're sick, right? I guess we shouldn't talk about it.

[00:03:29] Listen, and apparently because I faked sick in elementary school, that's why people can't call in sick to this day. So everything is wonderful. Oh, you ruined it for everyone, Kirsten. Yeah. You're ruining all of our games. No, literally, Taryn, next time you feel sick, you could say, oh, well, I would feel guilty about calling in, but it's fine. Eight-year-old Kirsten did that for me 25 years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Well, uh... But he was so sick.

[00:03:55] We started this episode with the longest recap, I think, of my life. But then we started the episode with the post-nominations, the nominations that were basically a foregone conclusion in the first place. And really, like, I think a lengthy time to both kind of talk through the state of the house, which is actually kind of nice, as well as set up the family segment, which they actually aired out of order.

[00:04:24] The family segment was actually after the veto competition, but they aired it before, which ultimately didn't make that much of a difference. But we get set up on, like, okay, Yash made this deal with the Endevins, and he's looking to rock with them to Final Four. But, uh-oh, Cutthroat D is still here. She might actually be looking to take a shot a little bit earlier.

[00:04:48] In the meantime, Drew is looking to still get in with the icons and make sure that, uh, that, like, they're gonna keep him this week. And, uh, and Melody and Bear are mostly just annoyed with Drew. Uh, is really kind of the overall vibe of the house. Yeah. Um, very par the course for Drew. Um, very sort of, like...

[00:05:18] Like, par the course as via this bribe for Yash. Um, all of them sort of just, like, trying to get in, uh, with this power structure and the icons. Um, and at this point in the game, you know, it makes sense, um, for both of them in different ways. Uh, although it is annoying to have to watch.

[00:05:43] Because I feel like the reason that it makes sense is because of how they were playing before. So, you know, it's like one of those things where it's like, well, you've gone this far. You might as well keep on going, baby. So. BB28, the season of the sunk cost fallacy. Like, literally, honestly. In many ways, sunk cost fallacy and also, uh, getting lucky, I think, is kind of a...

[00:06:14] Better to be lucky than good, apparently. Definitely. I'm gonna be carrying that forward in my life. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, we finally got set up on... I hadn't even realized that they'd never shown this in the episodes before. That, uh, Melody has been talking to her mom on the phone all season long. And I don't mean literally. Uh, obviously, she is only pretending that her mom...

[00:06:41] Because I just want to make sure people are clear on this in case they think that there's... That telephone is actually connected to anything. But no, in fact, she is just pretending to talk to her mom. It's, it's like her, uh, mechanic for talking to the cameras. Um, a lot of people, they'll sit in a room. We actually saw some of what Barrett was doing when he was talking to the cameras. They sit in a room alone. They talk to the cameras to communicate their thoughts. Sometimes they talk to a person. But in her case, because they have these prop phones,

[00:07:10] she's been just, like, genuinely acting like she's on the phone with her mom. And it's kind of, like, the coolest, like, method to do this. Like, it's, it's really clever and cute. Uh, and I was like, like, oh, I... We're getting this on the show, I guess, for the first time. Uh, here we go. It was, it's nice. I think it was, it's fun that it made the show. And obviously they were doing this to prep for the family segment. Right. Yeah, I mean, I like it too.

[00:07:37] You know, I, you know, I, in school, we just did, like, a little bit of a mental health unit. And we talked about, like, therapeutic communication strategies and stuff like that. And a lot of self-talk. And it is, you know, there's a lot of psychological research that says talking aloud or, um, having someone that you envision talking to can really help you get your thoughts out and get your feelings out. And for someone who has screamed quite a bit to herself in the house, I think that this

[00:08:04] is definitely a healthier outlet and a better way to go. So I'm glad that her mom is, you know, she is technically still talking to her mom. Her mom can definitely watch the live feed. So it's not entirely, you know, not happening. It's just a bit one-sided. But it works. If it works, it works. So I'm here for it. Well, and like, even the screaming and stuff, like, Melody lets out her emotions in, generally speaking, like, a fairly healthy way, at least when she's dealing with it by herself.

[00:08:32] Maybe not so much when she's being mean to people. But like, yelling, getting the energy out, when you will wake up in the morning and Melody's crying in the shower. Like, these are normal things that she's doing. And I think it's way better than letting it just bottle up inside you. It reminds me so much of the phone that was in the BB-18 house, which then became the BB-O-T-T house.

[00:08:56] And we got Justin messing with the phone all of the time and him picking up that phone one time and being like, hey, yo, can I get an order edition? Crazy. All right. Thank you. Like, it just, when people mess with the props in the house, it always brings me such joy. It's funny. And that just brought back memories. I had long forgotten. Yeah. It's a wild ride. Yeah. I guess, you know what?

[00:09:22] If it's healthy to just talk out loud and pretend that you're actually talking to people, like, is that like, that must be why I'm so mentally healthy. I'm just constantly talking on podcasts. Taryn, you are talking to other people. There's real people on the other side of the screen. That's what you're saying. But I have no proof of that. You just met them all in Milwaukee. Well, not all of them, but a lot of them. We don't exist, Taryn. We're all a figment of your imagination.

[00:09:48] You could be real people that exist in the world that I'm just imagining. That you have constructed. In my head. Oh my God. Well, I certainly hope not because I wish for better for you, Taryn. Well, we get that. We get some of like Drew and Dee bonding.

[00:10:11] We get Devin's who admits later to Dee is like, I feel like I was really bad at comforting you when you were sad about Angela because he was. She's in a better place. It's okay. It was funny. Was it comforting? Not so much. It wasn't really giving Dee what she needed, but they're back on track. It's okay now. Yeah. Yes. Yeah.

[00:10:34] And I think that segment was interesting because it implied that like the sad Dee is separate from the cutthroat Dee. But like, it's not like cutthroat Dee came back and returned. She's always cutthroat Dee. She's just also sometimes sad Dee at the same time. You know, she was thinking the cutthroat thoughts as she was also sad about Angela.

[00:11:03] But this is the inevitable consequence of keeping Dee in the game is that she is going to encourage Devin's to go back on a deal that maybe he wouldn't have thought to go back on at least as early. Uh, and she's also more likely to win than Angela here. So it's like already we're kind of seeing the, uh, the unfortunate results for Taylor and Yash for having kept Dee in the game. Dee contains multitudes and she is that girl.

[00:11:34] She should not have been able to convince Yash and Taylor to keep her. And she did. So it's not surprising that there is a pretty immediate negative ramifications for them, but it doesn't make it any less impressive what Dee pulled off last week. Yeah, it's, um, at the risk of sounding like a broken record. You know what? No. Congrats. Say it, Iman. Let it out. No. Don't hold it in. That's unhealthy.

[00:12:03] I need to call my mom. One second. I, I, I just, I just, I just, no, no, I'm not doing it. I'm not doing it. I'm not letting this show take me to a level that I don't need to go right now. Therapeutic communication to myself. Congratulations, Dee. She did a great job. She said the things that she needed to say. She hit the pressure points that she needed to press. Um, and it got these foals to do her bidding and to keep her in the house. And she is not, uh, she's not letting up either.

[00:12:30] And she's making sure that the sacrifice of Angela is not in vain. And she's putting herself in a position where she still has people that should not be wanting her around, wanting to work with her and sucking up to her. So it's like, I mean, you gotta give the props where they are. It just is what it is. Good for her. I'm on, I want a voice memo on my desk approximately 30 seconds after this. Yes. If you would like the unedited version of what I have to say,

[00:12:58] please comment on this video with the number zero. Oh boy. Well, uh, they do set up this family segment, which we get to see. It's very cute. Um, it's actually, it's, it's very funny to see Becca and the, and Devin's kids just cause like, I feel like we've already seen so much of them over the season. Yeah. Uh, on just like on social media office,

[00:13:27] we, we spoke with Becca early in the season. Um, and so like normally you see, you know, the families, I mean, you're seeing them for the first time. It's, I already felt like I knew them. Um, very cute stuff though. Uh, we get to see, um, Melody's mom who looks just like her. Uh, yeah. I was like, Oh my gosh, like older sister, what's going on? She looks beautiful. Um, I, I love the family visits,

[00:13:56] whether it's survivor or big brother. And a lot of ways I feel like it's even more brutal on big brother because it's just the right there on the screen, which you can't touch them at least with a survivor there. They, they fly them out. You can have a, have a kiss, have a hug. You might even have a reward, have some, some outback steakhouse or whatever restaurant is sponsoring survivor these days. And you have like a nice little getaway in Fiji there. They're still in that stanky old living room with much longer. And it's been much longer. Yeah.

[00:14:27] Um, and there they are. And then, and then you're like wondering like, well, why was this person in the video? And this person wasn't like, what's going on? Like y'all couldn't get together to film a whole video for me? Like what is going on? So like, it's, it's, it's, it's lovely, but it's also brutal at the same time. But I love that like universally house guests, castaways, they always say that it gives them that boost that they need to push through. Because there's nothing like seeing people that, you know, when a hundred percent unequivocally love you

[00:14:53] and support you, seeing them like express that to you. It's like, it's, it's fuel. It's like, it just, it just takes you there. So it was, it was lovely to see everybody's humanity when you spend so much time either loving or hating them unless you watch them on the season. Yeah. I mean, they're so good. I'm so, I, I'm such a sucker for a family visit. Like just the thought of being away. And then you get to see that like Barrett was weeping through everybody's videos.

[00:15:21] That would be me in that circumstance, 100%. And I'm not like as much of a crier as, as some other people, but like, come on. I, I, and Devin's at the start being like, well, and if it is the videos, everyone be quiet. It's like, okay, we're all fulfilling our roles. Yeah. Well, what's interesting about this one to, to what Amon was just saying was that it actually kind of didn't give some fuel. I think for a couple of people,

[00:15:50] melody in particular afterward was like, something's wrong. Like she just felt like something was off with her video, with the way that her mom was talking. And she got very anxious about it. And Taylor felt similarly. She felt like, I don't, I, I feel like there was something that they weren't saying. Um, and so, uh, so multiple people ended up coming, kind of coming away from this feeling like a little bit nervous.

[00:16:18] Um, and then something else that happened in this, that did not make this episode is that in Barrett's video, uh, somebody in the back is, is doing like this. It's so crazy. Which they are like, oh, that's a reference to Mallory. And, uh, and, and they're like, oh, that's, you know, for Barrett, he was like, oh, that's so nice. For Devin's and D they were like, he's, he's really gotta go.

[00:16:47] He clearly like he's coming. Did you see what they did? I, I would just like to point out that Taryn would not flip off the camera just a few days ago, but he's willing to do that. The throat slit is way easier. Relevant. I mean, it's, um, I always think so much about, uh, like HOH letters, uh, family videos when it comes to big brother,

[00:17:16] because I have to imagine no one is immune to trying to figure out how to send a message to their loved one. That's playing the game. How do you do it in a way that is discreet, that is going to be able to make it past production? Because, and I would imagine that production is screening all of these videos, screening all of these letters to decipher any type of like hidden message, or at least they should be. I don't know if they actually are. Um, and I mean, if I'm a player, I would be thinking about it too. And I would be as,

[00:17:45] if through the tears, I would be like, okay, what did your aunt say? What does she do? Why was she petting that dog's head like that? Taylor, why wasn't your dad in your video? Does her, does his absence mean that it's a signal for you to do something like what's going on here? Like I would be so overly analytical about everybody's video, but my own. Um, just because like, if that's the only communication that you got, we ain't got no more wall yellers. We ain't got no more plane, no banner planes. Somebody has got to get a message in there somehow.

[00:18:14] So, or even, I mean, even if, even if you don't believe it, use it against him. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Mom, they don't even check their social media that close. You think they're watching the videos for codes? That is a read. Yes. I forgot all about that. Yep. Yep. Yep. You know what? They, they, they just like passing it through, passing it on. It also had the oven mitt in there, which was funny.

[00:18:44] Doing the hair stuff. How would you want someone to send a message to you guys? Have you ever thought about it that deeply? Oh my goodness. Honestly, don't send me a message. I like, just be normal and be emotional because I don't want to be trying to read into a message. Like, and I also wouldn't trust my family to be giving me the right message of what I needed to know anyway. So just be nice. Say you love me. Say you miss me.

[00:19:14] Even if it's not true, it's fine. Yeah. I mean, that's the thing with, with like messages. It's like, you don't know if it's correct. You know, like they could tell you to do something, but their information isn't perfect in the same way that your information isn't perfect. Uh, they might have a wrong read on what the thing you should do is. They could try to give you information, but like, what does that information actually mean? Like, it's going to be hard to give specific information. You could try to be like,

[00:19:44] don't trust this person, but don't trust them with what? Uh, you know, like it's, it's very difficult to convey number one, accurate information. Number two, precise information. Number three, information, even if it is accurate and precise that you should follow through on. Like, or is it even at the right time? Right time. Cause we don't even know when these were filmed. Like they could have filmed this shit when it was like final 10. And they were just like, all these people have the,

[00:20:10] the opportunity to make it to the final seven or whatever we're at now and just film it now. And then we'll see what happens. And so they could be sending signals that were for weeks prior. So who knows? Yeah. I, yeah, I, I amend my answer. I only want to, uh, code message on a show if they can convince Taryn to do the message. Yo, can you imagine that? Like, like, first of all, if I was ever on big brother and I asked for Taryn to send me a message over my family, I would probably never be seen again after I get off the show.

[00:20:40] Cause I would be murdered by my family, but it would be so funny. You got a code though. I'm on, you just wouldn't, you just wouldn't remember. Hey, he's learned and grown since I'm Taryn. Come on. I have changed. My deciphering skills are better. Okay. I've learned. I gotta say, I always thought that Amon did that on purpose. I didn't. I swear. I've always felt that way. I wanted to take credit for it. I really did. But I was like, I can't. I fucked up. Excuse me. I messed up. Like, I was just mad.

[00:21:10] But it would be so funny. It would be so funny if Taryn was just like, Oh, hello, Carson Armand and good morning. Welcome to your loved one video. Welcome to your message from home. It's a six hour deep dive on the season so far. Yep. Yep. Then you find out who in the house is a real super fan. Who knows Taryn? Oh my God, that's the guy. Well,

[00:21:41] they get their messages and now it is time to draw and pick players for the veto. And Yash has the choice between Taylor and essentially an icon. And he chooses the icon over Taylor in this, in this veto draw. And he says he has the choice, which is actually a little interesting, right? Because, you know,

[00:22:10] this whole bribe situation, we're almost through with it, but this is like kind of a wrinkle. Like, what is actually allowed if the wording is that he needs to keep the icon safe on his HOH week? If he chooses Taylor to play in the veto, knowing that if Taylor wins, she would have the opportunity to force an icon on the block. Is choosing Taylor keeping the icon safe? I would argue no. However,

[00:22:39] that's obviously like kind of two steps removed. And so production apparently decided that's, that's actually okay. He didn't decide to do it, but it's just another one of those kind of like, the lines are quite blurred here in terms of what is allowed and what is not allowed. It seems because this, this doesn't feel like a hard line by any means. Hmm. No. Yeah. I didn't even think about that. Like, yeah, the wording, keep them safe,

[00:23:09] which also means don't do anything that makes them not safe, but you can't necessarily control what someone else does with their game. So it's not that you're not keeping them not safe. I don't know. Yeah. It feels like you could argue, because like you could argue that like keeping them safe would also, because like say for instance, Eric Stein, he had to actively campaign for what he was supposed to do as America's player.

[00:23:37] And he couldn't even like say something to another person that was against what he was supposed to be doing. Whereas Yash seemingly can campaign against the vets. Like if he was forced to put one on the block, seemingly he would be able to say, Hey, Taylor, please vote them out. He would just, wasn't able to make an active choice with the power that he had, but he was able to make an active choice to, to choose Taylor to play, which could have got them on the block, which he could have then tried to.

[00:24:07] So it's like, it's, it's just messy, but listen, we're almost done with the bribe here. Thank God. I, yeah, I think every, throw it away. Every decision related to it is over now, thankfully. So we can just move forward in a bribe-less world. Yes. And ultimately he makes the choice to, to have the icons play. He does not choose Taylor, which is an interesting choice. You know, he doesn't want to, he wants,

[00:24:35] he says he wants to prove his loyalty to them after making the deal. Now, seemingly there's no amount of loyalty to prove that will change their minds about potentially targeting him in the upcoming double eviction. But he still makes this choice. And, you know, sort of does not allow for that option of Taylor potentially winning and forcing an icon on the block. Just to be clear, if Taylor had won the veto and use the veto on say melody, then there would have been no other options,

[00:25:05] but one of D or Devin's to nominate, to renominate for Yash. At which point the wording of the bribe was that he mathematically was no longer able to keep them safe. And therefore would nominate, in this case, it would be Devin's as, as a nominee, which would have been a pretty good outcome for Yash. But of course they would have known if he chose Taylor to play that he was okay with that happening. Problem is doesn't really matter whether or not they know they're still kind of just coming for him anyway.

[00:25:35] Yeah. So, you know, it is what it is. Yeah. I mean, it's like one of those things where like, yeah, like you said, like, it's kind of like good, it's like plausible deniability on his end to, you know, if, if Taylor were to be upset with him and be like, well, sorry, Taylor, I can't choose you because that technically would be in violation of the bribe. But also he could flip it the other way around. I mean, give them, give the icons the excuse that like, well, no,

[00:26:01] I didn't put you in danger because you like Taylor and I are like with you guys now. And I only chose her because it would have been another slam dunk that like you guys would have been safe, but she just went rogue and it's not my fault. Like, so it's like, it's any way you slice it, it doesn't really matter because boy, they own your neck. They're coming for you. I mean, it did seem like Taylor didn't mind at all. Not being chosen, which I was like,

[00:26:30] you should mind a little bit, at least in the DR. Yeah. I mean, I would have pushed for it for sure. Leads to this opportunity or this possibility of what we eventually see happen in this episode, which is that she's forced on the block and never even had a chance to compete in this veto. Yeah. But we do start this veto. And it's all, all about the Fockers in law. Circle of trust. Circle of trust.

[00:27:00] I'm going to say it. I'm excited for this movie and I'm going to go see it in theaters. And it comes out on my birthday, which is also your first anniversary of your book coming out, Terrence. It's a big day. Oh, wow. Um, well, I, I'm not going to lie. I saw the initial preview of this movie, the very short one. And I was like, you know what? Maybe we should do, maybe I should like do like a watch party on the Patreon.

[00:27:29] Could be fun, you know, for the memes you tie into the show. Then I watched the segment on it later, the longer one. I was like, actually, I think I'm good. It's okay. It's giving like, they're definitely trying to appeal to this origin of like mid two thousands

[00:27:55] rom-com with some like slapstick in there. But I also find that like, if I go back and look at trailers for mid two thousands rom-coms, all of them are like that. All of them suck. But when you actually go and watch the movie, it's actually pretty funny. Now, well, the same thing be for this. I don't know, because again, I have never seen any of the fuck, Chris films. Oh my God. I know. I know. I know. I think I'm going to have to go ahead and watch it. Cause I,

[00:28:25] I think I might go ahead and watch this one too. Um, but you know, uh, you know, it, it, it might, it might be good. It might, it might be good. Ariana Grande is a pretty good comedic actress. I'll put that out there. She's so funny. And like, the thing is, it's so weird because I've seen the preview for this movie many times when I am enjoying the splendor of my local movie theater. And it's all the same clips that we saw on the show, but in the trailer,

[00:28:55] it's like, they're funny, but the way it was with them watching it, I was like, this doesn't look funny anymore. And I'm excited about this movie. That's how I felt. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I did learn though. I'd seen meet the parents of course. But, uh, when drew was like my mom quotes circle of trust all the time, I was like, really? Like from me. I don't believe him. And that's what I said.

[00:29:25] And then like a bunch of people in my chat were like, I know I do too. Totally. And I was like, come on though. Not from me. Circle of trust. It's like a phrase, but not from meet the pair. You're not referencing meet the parents. Like, no, no, it's from meet the parents. Damn. I missed this train. I would love to get some demographic information on your patrons. Taryn. I'm very curious now. Um, cause I've never met anyone that is referencing. I looked into it.

[00:29:55] Meet the parents did at the very least, like popularize the phrase circle of trust. Okay. Like it didn't, like it existed before, but like, it was not like a pop call. It's not something that you likely would have said out loud before. Meet the parents. This shit came out in 2000. Oh my God. But it's like, do, do people know that they're saying it because it came from that movie though? Like, that's what I'm like. I can understand if that popularized it,

[00:30:25] but like people are like knowingly referencing it. I don't know. I have a hard time believing it, but again, I'm just a hater. It's fine. I feel like it's just entered the vocabulary of culture. And I think most people would not know what came from. Meet the parents. Absolutely. They got an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. People really liked this movie. Okay. I remember thinking it was good when I was a child. Yeah. It was the moment I'm on. I think I saw it in theaters. It had so many good actors at the time.

[00:30:55] Yeah. The ensemble in this of it all is really, I think, I think it was like a big deal that like Robert De Niro did a comedy. Yeah. Like a really big deal. That's my memory from being a child. Okay. Okay. I'll watch it this week. I'll watch it. You've got homework. Come on. Yeah. By the next, next update. I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll give my review. I love this like concept of like bougie Amon being like, Oh,

[00:31:26] Hey, I love all movies. Okay. I'll give everything a shot. Okay. I'll, I'll, I'll make it work. All movies. That may have been a bit of a tough sale, but I like movies. All movies is crazy. Oh, wow. Somebody just said Ben Stiller is now the age De Niro was for meet the parents. Oh, Oh, wait. So what is meet the Fockers? Cause I thought it was called. That's the sequel.

[00:31:51] So first it's Ben Stiller meeting his like fiance's parents, Robert De Niro. And then they meet his parents, the Fockers. Oh, so he's a Focker. Dustin Hoffman. He's a Focker. Focker. and then the little Fockers is a lesser known third movie. Yes. I was going to say, Amon, it's really Fockered up that you don't know this. I mean, I know the name of it. I just never watched it. I actually don't know if I ever saw the second one.

[00:32:21] I saw the second one. I did not see the third one, which is apparently the worst one. But, but this is all for this veto competition where they will be standing there for 13 hours. And, and it's, I know they're messing with me. I know it. They are gaslighting us in the craziest way. Truly. Like,

[00:32:51] they've done the sword hole or like long device holding something up competition many times in the past. And that competition has had a name every time. A different name every time. And it has never, never been the pressure cooker. And now they're trying to retroactively make all of these other, uh, long challenges, endurance challenges, and also say they were the pressure cooker,

[00:33:19] even from like season four before the pressure cooker ever existed. And you cannot trick us. CBS. Big brother. Alison Grodner. Absolutely not. The pressure cooker is a, how bad do you want it? Challenge. You are pressing a button. It requires next to zero physicality. Uh,

[00:33:48] it is just how bad do you want it? How much can you negotiate? This is something very different. Even the easier version, which is the one we got this year rather than last year is certainly better than last year's version. Even this version, it's still a very physical challenge. You need to be able to hold the sword with tension for a lengthy period of time. It's still to some degree.

[00:34:18] How bad do you want it? But it's primarily an endurance competition. It's more like the wall than it is the pressure cooker. We've always had the pressure cooker as a term for this specific competition that was strictly. How bad do you want it to conflate? The two is like saying like hockey and soccer are the same thing because they both score by putting things into a net. It's like, yeah,

[00:34:45] but the method that you do that with is very different. You know what I mean? Like, come on now. Hey, I don't know. That's kind of a fun thing to say to like rage bait sports fans. I might take that. I saw, you know, they had case for sign off on it. So I guess it's just gospel now, you know, but also, and also they showed the competition from season four with like the cages and

[00:35:13] they didn't show the competition from season five where they actually had to hold a button. It's crazy. I'm like, I don't care about this anymore. No, it's not that I just, uh, you know, I, I saw case are there. So to me, I'm just like, I bought it. It got case or washed. Okay. If case, if I'm not in the same room as case or hearing him say it, I'm not counting it.

[00:35:41] And even then you think case or reads are not always correct. They're not. So I like, I know I'm not trusting him on this. Now here's what I listen. End of the day. They showed this on the feeds. So I'm, I'm not like, like if they want to say it's in the pressure cooker family, I'm okay with that. I just don't be calling this pressure cook. It's not the pressure cooker. Especially when you're like mixing in the, the,

[00:36:11] the, the Fockers stuff in there, you could have just made it just the whole Fockers themed thing. And like, let it be that, like, why does it have to be, you know, why, why are we consolidating comps? Like let the pressure cooker be what it is. And let this Fockers stuff be what it is. And here's the thing. Cause obviously we're being, I think, you know, we're joking around. We're being pedantic. Yeah. But like, I think like the heart of this is that like, is this, is this just the replacement for the press?

[00:36:41] Is it always going to be a sword now? Are we never getting the button back ever? Because that's, I think the true fear at the heart of like them calling this the pressure cooker, because there's always been this, like, you know, the fans have been asking, we want the pressure cooker back. They finally gave it to us in BB 25. And then they reversed that HOH. They made it a useless HOH. Yeah. It was wild. It was such a useless HOH. The person evicted that week won the game. And then,

[00:37:10] and so now they're like calling this the pressure cooker. It really feels like if this is being called the pressure cooker, we're never going to get it again. The button holding one ever again, which sucks. This is at best the pressure cookers cousin, Matt, you know, exactly. But, I, um, I, um, yeah, I mean, I, I struggle to understand why you just can't do it. If it's,

[00:37:37] is it just the concern of people not dropping out quickly enough? Because there are ways that you can make them drop out. And this one lasted as long as the previous, the actual pressure cookers roughly did. So it doesn't even seem like it's that necessarily. Make it cold, drop the flies in there, drop the nasty stuff in there, make it stink in there. Actually fluctuate the temperature. Okay. Make it cold and make it hot. Like, like there are ways, like if you want that pressure cooker to not last days,

[00:38:08] you can make that happen. So just, I don't know. I don't know. Why do they do anything that they ever do? Well, I did enjoy this competition. Ultimately, like I said, the one complaint I had was that they did not, not properly portray just how sick Yash was, how he was begging for water, uh, for like at least eight of the hours. He said this, I'm just going to be mad golden after this. Yeah.

[00:38:38] And just how bad he's out. Cause like you see him in the negotiation at the end. And that's when he perked up. That was the healthiest. He sounded like all competition when he was whispering. That wasn't because he was afraid that they would overhear. That was because he didn't have a voice until he like warmed up the pipes. Uh, like it was bad for Yash. And I, I would have been nice to have like sort of felt that more with him more so than just the one little bit of like, he was like, I wasn't feeling well. Yeah. I'm parched. He wasn't sick. He was just thirsty in the edit. Yeah.

[00:39:08] But other than that, I think this was again, truly the most appropriate use of like four segments of competition. Uh, I felt, I didn't feel the length at first when D dropped after like four and a half hours, but once D dropped, I started feeling the length of the competition. I liked the spinning fades. I like the, we like sat there silent for a little while. They really did that well. Um, and they also, uh, I think appropriately showed just how terrible, uh,

[00:39:37] drew looked at the start of the competition because he did look terrible at the start of the competition, uh, only to like gain strength over time. Um, which is very fun. We see D drop. We see, uh, melody drop melodies now rooting against drew. This is a big topic. Uh, then Devins goes down and eventually Barrett also falls, but not before, uh, drew really starts, uh, perking up here. Yash.

[00:40:08] Barrett. Drew. It was giving, um, it was, it was reminding me so much of that scene in, uh, what's it called? Rocky horror picture. So Dr. Scott, Rocky, Dr. Scott, Rocky. Like it was like, that's all I could think about. It's his, his tone while he's saying the names is,

[00:40:34] was just giving like children's show to me or like a kid's toy. It's Rachel. And it like makes noise. Cause he was, I feel like he was so consistent. Like, yosh. Barrett. Barrett. Drew. Barrett. Drew. And we get there. They're all getting in on it. And then like, obviously you hear Yasha's whisper and they try to make it seem as though

[00:41:04] he's just whispering for dramatic effect. Although of course we know that that is not the case. I'm putting out a Batman signal to the talented producer that created the F and Bowie Jane track with all of the sound bites of Felicia, BB 25. He, this is, this is what you need to be focusing on. Ruby B28 is all of Drew's vocal stems. That would be very fun.

[00:41:33] Make it happen. Something that they didn't quite show is that Drew was talking when melody dropped. He was also talking when Barrett dropped. It seemed like it was at least a little bit distracting during both of those instances. And Drew's strategy here did kind of pay off. It's kept him awake while also distracting other people. And he's pretty excited about it. Oh yeah.

[00:42:02] Let's go. Okay, Drew. So we eventually get to the wheeling and dealing. Once Barrett is out, Drew gets to work on Yash. And I thought they set this up really well throughout the episode of just how often Yash is just bashing Drew in the diary room. He doesn't want to work with Drew for like every reason.

[00:42:33] He's a snake. He's a fraud. He's a weasel. I don't trust him. And then we get to this negotiation and it's been 13 hours. And to some degree, they've kind of bonded through this trauma. And there's actual discussion happening here. Now, at first, Drew is swearing on his cousin, Matt, Matthew, and that cousin does not exist.

[00:43:02] And Drew, this, this would have been great television, but Yash doesn't fall for it. He says, I want a real person. And so, uh, Drew then swears on his sister who we then saw in the family. So this is actually why I think it was useful, uh, to show the family segment earlier. Um, even though it happened after, because we had now just seen his sister. Uh, so Yash didn't even see through it because he just saw Drew's sister. He, uh,

[00:43:32] he saw through it before seeing the sister. Um, and then, uh, and then apparently according to Drew in the diary room, he's like, yeah, he caught me. And now I've sworn on my sister. So I'm actually going to hold to this one. Yeah. But do you believe him when he says that? It, I mean, it's weird about the things they swear on. Yeah. It's, I mean, it remains to be seen, right? Like there's still plenty of time for things to not necessarily go. Right.

[00:44:01] But it, it was the fact that he said it in the DR was like, Oh, okay. So maybe there is some, some weight behind this because if you were planning on being deceitful about, like, I don't think that you go out of your way to make up a family member to lie about and then drop the act to then swear on a real family member. If you weren't going to keep it because of then I would, if you were just going to do all of that, I would have just kept up with the cousin Matt of it all and being like, no, bro, there is a cousin Matt.

[00:44:31] Like he's literally my cousin. We grew up together. We played fricking game cube. Yeah. He's, he's more like a brother than a cousin. Right. Like, like just keep that facade. Cause what's like, what's Yash ultimately going to say? Like, no, he doesn't exist. Like, how does he know? What are his parents' names? Dan and Karen. I mean, I might have to think about my cousin's parents' names real quick. I had that thought too. Like, would I know? I might know one of their names, but then like the other one,

[00:45:00] cause sometimes it's by marriage people that are, you know, cause you know, it's, you know, sometimes you forget. You just, Hey, I feel like I'd be more likely to forget my cousin's names than my aunt and uncles. Like, I mean, like I would know my cousin's mom's name. Cause that's my aunt. I don't remember their dad's name. He's never really, you know, he's just an uncle and screw them. Some of them are estranged or some people have really, really, that is true.

[00:45:30] Keep track. Like think about somebody like Oz's family, like her grandfather was a polygamist. Okay. You think she remembers all her cousins and her aunt and uncle's names? Hell no. I mean, I feel, I don't know. Oz and Mike. Why does he spend too much time to get the Oz's family? Either way. Here's the thing. I think that like, I do think this actually matters. Even if Drew is exaggerating it in the diary room, if Drew had gotten away with cousin Matt,

[00:45:58] the story of that is going to impact the way he treats this deal, right? Like the story of this is now like, Oh, I'm clowning on Yadley. He believed my lie about cousin Matt, but I'll still probably honor the deal. Cause it makes sense to me. But like, it's, it's, it's more so like, he feels like I, you know, this is not something I need to hold. I tricked him versus he saw through it. I had to do the real thing. And now it's like, not that he's not the, the, the narrative of this deal is not. I tricked Yash.

[00:46:27] The narrative of this deal is I made a deal with Yash. Uh, and I do think that matters even on like a subconscious level. So, uh, I, I do think that it was important for Yash to, uh, to get the proper swearing here. I think he's, I think like everybody else at this point in the game, you really start smelling that money. And certain moves start might make a lot more sense to make than they did, uh, you know,

[00:46:53] an eviction cycle ago and working with your mortal enemy might show more dividends than doing whatever it is that you've been doing for the past, however long. So I, it's interesting. Again, it remains to be seen if it will really hold true. There is a whole double eviction that is looming. It's hard to say. Uh, but I, I agree that there, there definitely seemed to be a bit of a, a, a tone shift with how this was handled. Um,

[00:47:21] and there's like more of like, uh, maybe I should grow up a little bit real quick coming from true who is so just like Yash all the time. So. Merit. And just like that, Drew wins the power of veto. He saves himself this week. Woo! The kid's still here. Kid's still there. It's still here. The, uh, what did they call him?

[00:47:49] The high hair Gen Z was what the announcer guy called him at the start of the episode. Don't recall. High hair. Uh, Yash seems very pleased with this. He says, I turned a negative into a positive cause that's what we do, bro. Uh, is this a positive for Yash? I mean, I think that's still an open question, right? Yeah. We do see that neither of them tell anybody about this deal and they both are implying that they're going to stick to the deal.

[00:48:19] So the question kind of has become like, are they going to, even if they mean to right now, even if they have a desire to, you know, double eviction, final five, like when they start to get opportunities to actually take shots at one another again, are they really not going to? Because if they didn't, they're completely right. They could probably just run down to the end. Yeah. But neither of them are fully incentivized to stick to it all the way,

[00:48:47] or even I think on Drew's end, even necessarily a little bit. So that in some ways has become one of the bigger questions of the season is like, what is going to come of this deal? Yeah. Well, and I, I think when Yash says like, I turned a negative into a positive, uh, I, I think he more so meant I was feeling so sick. There's no way I was going to outlast Drew. So at least now Drew is winning anyway.

[00:49:17] He has at least something to maybe not target me next. Rather than fair than that would. And so I do think that's what he meant, but also like Yash is a known liar. He could lie to us in the diary room as much as he lies to the, the people in the house, though. I don't really think he has been lying to us in the diary room thus far, but I'm, I'm so, so curious to see what happens tomorrow night. And if even they will have the opportunity to turn on each other or if they'll protect each other, what's going to happen?

[00:49:47] Like double eviction, baby. It's double eviction, baby. Thank you. Drew also says something that, uh, is, is very interesting here. He says this, this whole game, all I've done is tell the icons everything. And it always comes and bites me. So this time I'm gonna learn from my mistakes and just keep it to myself. It only took him days,

[00:50:16] but drew has finally figured out. He should not be telling the icons everything. And that changes the whole game, right? Like, cause here's the thing that I've been talking about with drew all season, which is that like, when he tells the truth, people think he's lying. When he lies, people are much more likely to believe he's telling the truth.

[00:50:41] And as he has been lying more and more since he's learned his lesson to not tell the icons, everything he's actually been making inroads more so in his relationships with the icons than he ever has before. It's so crazy too, because like telling the icons, everything has never been like the downfall. It was the icons were falling for paranoia about like an issue that wasn't really existing.

[00:51:10] And the less they trusted him. Yeah. So crazy. It's so crazy. Yeah. This is a, this is a fine tight rope that I feel like he has to walk down now. And it's because he's locked himself into so many, like the, the house dynamics have been locked for so long. Um, and he's a big reason as to why they are. So now he has to play this balancing role of like honoring this deal with Yash,

[00:51:41] respecting the boundaries that they've set in place there, but also not over communicating with Drew and Devin's to the point where they feel any type of way, which let's face it, they're going to feel some type of way about him regardless. So it's like, it's just a, it's just a constant balancing act and knowing which, which beetle and which HOH is to win from here until the final three, like which one is going to put you in the line of fire, which one is going to defend you. It's, it's, uh,

[00:52:10] it's real dicey. And I don't necessarily know if he has the, the game sense to, to navigate it correctly, but it's definitely interesting to watch. Cause I, that Devin's in D man. Like I just, they are still here. It's just like every, like the alarm bells should be ringing for everybody.

[00:52:36] And the fact that they really weren't able to do anything with it this week because of this damn bribe is just, it's like they've locked themselves into such crappy spots where now they are forced to walk this line. And it's, it's crazy. I just don't know how, I don't know. I don't know what is going to happen. I don't know. I really don't know what's going to happen from here on out. Yeah. It's, I mean, we, we have to wait and see.

[00:53:06] And yes, people did get locked into a crappy position, but I like, you also have to look at like who had the power through all of those other weeks. Like what were people supposed to do? So, yeah. Well, we do see melody make an attempt at getting drew to use the veto on her although to call it like a proper attempt, I think is overselling it. It wasn't going to happen. They really played this up like, Oh, because she rooted against him in the competition and Devin's ratted her out.

[00:53:36] Uh, because he's, he sees drew as a son and without. That was weird. I, I mean, we've had the whole like daddy Devin situation all season long, but it's so funny because at the start of the episode, you know, melody and drew are talking and it's like, well, he said he could maybe use the veto on me. So like, well, I don't have anything else to lose. It's worth a try. He won't do it, but like, it's going to try anyway. Ha ha ha.

[00:54:04] To the end of the episode where they're then trying to make it seem like, Oh no, melody's going to try and use Ariana Grande's, uh, manipulation from the movie to like, to get him. Like she, she knew he wasn't going to do it. Like, please. Yeah. I mean, good on her for trying at least, you know? Yeah. Like, Hey, men have, men have started wars over women in history. Okay. So far be it from her to, to try to,

[00:54:33] try to make something work. Okay. It would probably be more successful if she was, um, nice to drew more often or like, this is true. Was being mean to him in the way that he likes rather than the way that he doesn't like. Cause it seems like sometimes he likes it and sometimes he doesn't. No, it would have been more successful if she had been able to say, listen, listen, Drew, I can't do one for one, but I can do two for one.

[00:55:05] Hey, could have come close. Um, ultimately drew does of course use the veto on himself. Taylor is the forced renom. And that is our two hour episode for the night. Yeah. We did it, Joe. We did it, Joe. Yeah. I mean, it's a, it's do or die for this blockbuster. Um, you know, Barrett, Melody,

[00:55:34] Taylor, it's, it's feeling as though Barrett is sort of like the favorite to win here, but it really depends on what the comp is. We don't know yet. Um, and so. Thank God he got some food at the movie reward. So he's not malnourished. It's, he's going to be okay. Yeah. I have faith. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, honestly, there's not much to talk in the way of spoilers. Uh,

[00:56:04] like, I think the episode has done a pretty good job of setting us up for, uh, for the, it's double eviction, baby, baby. I just love how one year they decided it's double eviction, baby. And they never looked back. Cause that's what it is. Baby. Maybe. Uh, unless there's anything else that you guys want to talk about from the feeds or from the episode. Uh,

[00:56:34] I think we're, we're pretty close to, uh, to caught up here. I, I didn't. Oh, sorry. Go ahead, Carson. I feel like there's like some discussion. There's like some discussion happening about votes, but it may not go anywhere. So maybe it's not worth it. Let's, you know what? Why not? Let's do it. Let's talk a little bit of spoilers. Uh, if you're going to bounce out now, first of all, what are you doing? Yeah. What the hell? Big brother is about grow up.

[00:57:02] You sit your ass down and listen to these spoilers. Now we all do a dance. So stick around. Here we go. The office of civil defense has issued the following message. This is a spoiler. That's a great one. A spoiler. Warning means that an actual spoiler against this country has been detected and that protective action should be taken. All right. Okay. Uh, yes, we have some spoilers here. Like I said,

[00:57:32] the, the episode has basically set us up for what we need to know. Um, D and Devin's have confirmed that they will target Yash in the double eviction. As long as Barrett leaves, uh, first, if he stays, the plan is to put Barrett on the block next to drew. And then kind of either one of them could go. They would prefer Barrett, but they can't control those votes. Uh, and Yash would still probably be the replacement nominee in the event that one of them won the veto. Uh, Yash and Taylor, on the other hand,

[00:58:02] Taylor, particularly since Yash can't win the HOH, uh, Taylor's much more looking to target drew, but Devin's would be the backup target. If not the primary target, they're still kind of back and forth on that. Um, and then of course, uh, Barrett has been, you know, making his campaign and, uh, and he has his own thoughts on like, you know, at least one of the icons or Yash needs to leave.

[00:58:29] He's been a little back and forth seemingly on which one he would prefer over the other. Uh, and the main thing of course is like, if Barrett, if Barrett does win the blockbuster melody goes, uh, and if Melody or Taylor, when Barrett leaves, at least that's been primarily the plan. Yash and Taylor have discussed that they actually would prefer to keep Barrett over melody. And they could, uh, probably, um, on their own,

[00:58:57] depending on like where the votes go. Um, or at least it's possible. Uh, but, uh, because, because Drew might also prefer that, uh, for various reasons, Barrett's a better competitor to help him fight Yash and the icons. Uh, and so it's theoretically possible that that could happen, but Taylor and Yash have been reluctant to once again, upset the icons by making a move like that. So,

[00:59:27] it's, it doesn't seem likely that we have, uh, a flip on our hands here. We just need Drew to, and Barrett to talk to Yasha and Taylor and like really lay it all out there. I feel, um, and a lot of that conversation was happening during the episode. So I'm not sure like how serious it is, but I'm like, Barrett, get your ass upstairs, talk to them. You, you could stay. Yeah.

[00:59:57] Like, don't, you know, like, don't, don't isolate as you have been doing, um, ever since your HOA, HOH didn't kind of go the way that you wanted it to. Um, I, I, I think that, you know, I mean, you're not dead in the water. I mean, and they were talking and he's, he's determined to win this, this blockbuster. So act as if like plan for, as if you were already like plan as if you were staying. That's it. Yeah. Like put the plans in motion so that when this, when this double pops off,

[01:00:24] you were able to like hit the ground running and do what it is that y'all need to do in order to, to set yourself up for the end game. That's all that you really can do at this point. Um, like don't, don't, don't have plans, not include you when there are so few people left in this game. That's it. That's it. All right. Anything else from the feeds that we should talk about before we wrap up here? Um, no,

[01:00:52] nothing that hasn't already been covered in the, in the updates. And I'm assuming anyone who's here already listened to those anyway. So you, you got the updates every morning. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I will be back tomorrow morning, 11 a.m. Eastern to give you the final update before double eviction. I, I changed the spoiler song soundboard. Uh, it's a before double eviction, baby. Tune in tomorrow morning. Uh, and then tomorrow night, another two hour episode,

[01:01:21] but it'll be a two hour double eviction episode. I'll be streaming live on my Patreon, Twitch, YouTube, and then back here again on the podcast to recap it all. Stay tuned for that.
