BB28 Wednesday Veto Ep Recap, Week 1
Big Brother 28 is at a boiling point as the house grapples with a trio of nominees and a looming split vote, while hidden alliances and fractured trust threaten to explode. This is a recap episode hosted by Rob Cesternino with guests Mike Bloom and Jacob Jones. With eviction night around the corner, the group unpacks Deeβs HOH, the fallout from the Veto, and the chaos swirling among houseguests like Angela, Ashley, Melody, and more.
This week, Deeβs βone from each groupβ strategy puts Ashley, Taylor, and Yash on the block. After Mallory snags the Veto and saves herself, Ashley takes her place as the replacement nominee. The episode details Ashleyβs attempt to secure votes, only to possibly talk herself into trouble as the lines between alliances become harder to read. Ashley presses Melody for support, but Melody tries to distance herself. Meanwhile, alliance whispers swirl and a potential 7-7 split vote gives Dee the power to break the tie, making the HOH twistier than ever. Angela deals with paranoia, Rome and Lyricβs showmance grows, and returning icons try to hold onto their power.
- Jacob Jones calls out Melody for turning her back on Mallory, branding her βfraudulent.β
- Mike Bloom explains the shifting vote math and how Dee could end up deciding the eviction.
- Rob Cesternino draws parallels to iconic past players as Angela navigates trust issues and game-changing emotions.
- Malloryβs Veto win gets attention for flipping the weekβs momentum.
As alliances bend and the outcome hangs on a razor-thin margin, will Deeβs potential tie-breaker reshape the power dynamic or mark her as a target herself?
Donβt miss the full breakdown and predictions ahead of BB28βs first live eviction.

[00:00:08] Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Sestranino back here on a Wednesday night for our recap of the Veto episode of Big Brother. We've got so much to talk about here tonight with our panel. First joining us, we just got done talking with Julie Chen Moonves here today over at Parade.com. Give it up for Mike Bloom. Thrilled to be here, Rob.
[00:00:35] Yeah, actually, no lie, the very first thing Julie Chen Moonves said when I saw her on Zoom today was, you look like you don't age, and now I fear that I may have some will talks in my system, and I don't realize it. Yes, okay. Will talks or won't talks? We'll find out. And here with us, a man who doesn't need any will talks whatsoever, the great Jacob Jones is here tonight. Jacob, how are you?
[00:01:00] I am. I was just telling Rob and Mike that I feel very dreamy today, and I feel very chatty. And kind of on the podcast with y'all today, I feel very, what did Taylor say, erotic? Erotic and erratic sometimes. And erratic. It's a perfect description of Jacob Jones. At the same time. Yes, always. So we're very excited to be here with you live here tonight.
[00:01:25] We are 24 hours away from a busy live eviction coming up on Thursday, and we've got so much going on because we mentioned it was big Julie Chen Press Day. We could talk about that and hear what she was having to say about everything. We are headed into our live eviction now that we know all three nominees.
[00:01:51] Big news was announced today in RHAP world as we had a video that went viral to announce a big staple of the lineup is back this summer. The summer of Stein is here. At least for now, Eric has committed to be with us this Thursday. We'll see how it goes week after week.
[00:02:18] Is this not part of some sort of like court mandated order after he got busted for being one of three masterminds behind last season? This could be. Yes, this is the yes to do some charitable work in the Big Brother community. And so here he is. Well, I will be talking with Eric Stein coming up tomorrow. Hopefully a part of you every Thursday here in Big Brother 28 or until Eric has had enough.
[00:02:47] OK, how about that? I mean, I'm thrilled for those who are not in the know who came to Big Brother or RHAP maybe a little late. Summer of Stein was what a two two season staple. Rob, I think it was Big Brother 20 and 21. If you love the slop, this is like the slop. Yeah, there was a winter of Stein also. And so very excited to get back with Eric. I'm not even sure we did two summer of Steins.
[00:03:15] I think we might have done one and a winter of Stein. I'm not sure. We could go back into the annals of history and talk about it. Of course, we're also excited to be here live also on ChatBCC where we have so much fun during the episode. What would you say, Mike? There is about what, 25 Big Brother alumni talking during the episode? 25 Big Brother alumni, but like 2,500 messages going on at the same time.
[00:03:43] There's a lot of discussion, not only about what's going on on this season, but others. There was a really interesting question, actually a juicy one that was thrown out as to like, who do you hate of the people you competed with on your season? So again, if you want discussion of not only the current season, but past ones of Big Brother as well, you got to get on the ChatBCC. I actually believe perhaps some counter-programming. I believe Brenchall might be live on ChatBCC. We're live, I think. BB28.chat to go over there and see everything that's going on.
[00:04:12] BB28.chat, even if you're listening after the fact, join them for every episode. All right. Jacob, how are you feeling during BB28? Hold on, what happened? We lost Jacob's audio? You're muted. Okay. I just didn't know when I was muted. I never hit the mute button back. But I feel very good, especially this week about this current season about Big Brother.
[00:04:38] One thing I do have to say, they said we were bringing reality TV icons. Yes. Were any icons in the building? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Don't throw tomatoes at me. But, you know, when I hear reality TV icons, I'm thinking the names of the names. I'm thinking Rob C. You know what I mean? I'm thinking people sort of in that era.
[00:05:08] But, you know, I'll take it. Yeah. Okay. Who qualifies the most as an icon? Power rank them for us. I think I'll just give you three off the bat. Tiffany Mitchell. Yeah. I sure. I would say I heard remnants of Jen Johnson. Icon. Icon. Sure. Icon.
[00:05:41] Icon. Right. Yeah. Right? Why not bring in Tony? Icon. Why not? You can snap and name a name. But I'm happy. I'm not going to complain too much, you know? But when you say icons, I'm thinking icons. Yeah. How about Angela? How do you feel about Angela coming back? How do I feel about Angela coming back? Angela. Do you think Angela's an icon? I think she's a Big Brother icon. Yeah. I think Angela is good on Big Brother. Yeah.
[00:06:11] Yeah. I think the definition of icon is always the most intriguing. Because not only is Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder. But I feel like there's like, for certain people's definition, like a time of marination. Like you bring up a lot of people. Tiffany, I think, is the lone exception, Jacob, of the names you brought up, of like people who played in the 2000s or even the 2010s who maybe have either been on our screen time and time again or haven't been on in a long time. And, you know, the earliest person to play on reality TV out of these three icons is Rick
[00:06:40] Devins, who, as we saw from the premiere, we time traveled back to, you know, the bygone era of 2018. So it's a good question considering that Angela has only been on, you know, one season compared to some of those other names you listed. I think she's an icon, though. I think she's Mount Rushmore in terms of just pure entertainment as a Big Brother player. One season wonder. Wow. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:07:03] And as was teased in the episode that Angela was going to give us her first maybe tears. It's unclear. I saw people wondering that we saw Angela have a bit of a breakdown in the diary room. People were looking for, were there tears from Angela? Was that a real Angela cry that she had in the diary room? What do you think, Mike? It was an inner cry. Inner cry. Ooh. Ooh.
[00:07:33] Like, you don't need tears all the time. Sometimes you just need a good hee-haw and a good scrunched face. And that's what she provided for us. Yeah. What do you think, Mike? I, did we get a cut? Was there a noticeable cut between, because we cut between a number of times of her crying and then her sitting fairly dry-eyed talking to the camera. We don't know how long she was in that diary room for.
[00:07:57] There's a good chance that she, like, asked for a Kleenex to wipe up the tracks of her tears and then to gain that resolve to tell Jason what's for. So I'm not willing to sort of throw the baby out with the bathwater of salty tears at this point and say that it was all entirely fake. I think that this reaction is totally in Angela's wheelhouse. And we'll certainly get into it. But I think that, I personally think the reaction is also very understandable and deserved, given some of the material behind it. Yeah.
[00:08:27] Let's talk about that. Because we know from this week that Jason really has not been a fan of the returnees. We heard more about his dislike of Rick Devins and some of the things that he was going to do. I'm not sure if we will see them in the episode or not, where on the feeds, Jason was trying to make slop rice crispy treats for Rick Devins. It was his daughter Juju's birthday.
[00:08:55] And he was trying to do something nice for Rick Devins, allegedly. But it was really, he was telling people it was not because he likes Rick Devins. It's because he's trying to trick Rick Devins. But we did see in the episode, which I feel like that this was talked about much less. I'm not sure if this moment happened on the feeds where Jason and Angela are laying down together. And he said, I lost my mom. You're my new mom. Mike, was this something that people had seen? Do we know about this?
[00:09:25] I am trying to recall. I don't believe so. I think we've definitely seen some moments between Angela and Jason. I just feel like with the, you know, do we decimal system that Big Brother fans have set up in terms of a compendium of live feeds tracking every single minute that happens. If there was a conversation here where Jason went so far, I feel like we would have known. Yeah. People are saying in the chat that apparently it was on feeds.
[00:09:53] It must have been very early on. I mean, obviously all this is very early on. But yeah, suffice it to say, I think that as much as Mr. announcer guy and, you know, Big Brother Nation at large likes to poke fun of like, oh, Angela's prone to meltdowns. You know, when somebody trifles with her, she'll drop an atom bomb of a reaction.
[00:10:14] Like this is an incredibly personal thing, you know, and for the record, Jason's mom is has has has has left us like that is true. He did not lie about that. Johnny Fairplay situation. You don't want to go full fair play. But he actually maybe did a little bit worse than fair play in that Johnny Fairplay did not say his grandmother was dead and then go to Burton and be like, hey, just so you know, my grandma's dead. I'm not dead. I should say.
[00:10:44] Yeah. Great line from Corey in the chat who said on Rick Devin's daughter's birthday. Hey, Jacob, what do you make of all this? I think that the emotions in the theatrics was a little bit too far to Mike's point. I get why Angela reacted how she did. But if I'm coming on a reality show, especially from another reality show that I'm thinking, oh, my goodness, I'm about to be the star of this.
[00:11:12] And I see three other people mosey on it. Oh, I'm pissed. I'm pissed. What do you mean, Angela with the theatrics is going to come in here? What do you mean, D, with the charisma, with the confidence, with the earnestness is going to come in here? What do you mean America's dad is going to come in? The drag queen is coming up in here. Is that not enough applause on its own? So I would be mad. And I do have to say, Angela, as to people that, you know, attribute Angela to icon status, Angela has gave houseguests hell.
[00:11:42] We saw it. So why not Angela be put through some hell? Why not? Yeah. I was surprised that we got in the diary room from Jason that it did seem like part of his motivation is, wait, why are they reality TV icons? And I'm not. Mm hmm. Yeah. I mean, this makes sense entirely. Jason comes from a show, RuPaul's Drag Race, that is a competition.
[00:12:09] But if you talk to anybody who has watched a fair amount of seasons of the show, you know that it is not only a competition within the show, but also gaining airtime, you know, gaining the good edit, getting the favor of RuPaul and the judges. And so it also becomes a bit of a popularity contest baked into this entire competitive sense.
[00:12:29] And so I think it's a very, you know, predictable reaction from somebody like Jason to have these other people shine a little brighter than him and feel like, you know, he has been living in the shadows by comparison. I mean, again, he wasn't even brought in as one of the three, even though he's able to lie about the fact that he's been on two seasons of reality TV.
[00:12:54] You got to imagine he's stewing a little bit at the mere idea that these three other people, you know, one of whom only played on one season of reality TV, get the pomp and circumstance and red carpet rolled out across the sands of time. Well, he just brought he got brought in as a normie. Also, yes, his season of drag race his second time on, I believe, is the current season that's finishing airing right now.
[00:13:20] So on top of that, who Jason, who's just been on TV, been tweeting, being Instagramming, IMDB pages updated. He walks in on hot stuff. So the fact that, oh, wait, OK, big brother, cute, the challenge, cute survivor, cute. What about the doll? And what about the doll? Yeah. And I mean, I think for what it's worth, like the arguments that he has been making have been sound from a newbie's perspective.
[00:13:49] Even let's let's take, you know, the the green eyed monster that is jealousy and put it to the side right now. I mean, there is the idea that these people command large fan bases. There isn't a lore that they bring. They become easy shields to a lot of people, as we see with Barrett and Drew. Well, they're always going to go for these reality icons above us. They don't even know about the frickin time capsule voting and the fact that fan voting is going to be brought into it and is absolutely going to lean in the favor of these people who already have fan bases.
[00:14:18] The problem is, Jason, these are all inside thoughts. And this is really what it comes down to. You can feel the way that you want to about whether you felt like this entire strategy crossed the line, whether it was good TV, some combination of the two that this is going to be a barometer in which every reality TV player and fan measures things differently.
[00:14:41] But it is an objectively terrible idea to go to two people who you've never met before and say, all right, we're the we're the court jesters, right? We're the pranksters. Well, let me tell you about the joke I just pulled on Angela. I told her that she's replacing my dead mom and I fake cried about it. That was a real like Johnny Knoxville would be crying in his seat right now. Right. That's a real knee slapper.
[00:15:12] It just does not necessarily feel like the great greatest opening line to forming an alliance. Yeah, that's the real messy part of it. I don't really have an issue that he did it. It's one thing to tell us in the diary room, but then to go and tell Drew. And it seems like that he can't wait to tell everybody about this. It's really not that great of a plan. It's like he's monologuing.
[00:15:38] And I'm thinking he's he's thinking that this is a bigger gag than it actually is. Kind of like, oh, my gosh, guys, I just told somebody that they replaced my passed away mother. Yes. And everybody like, oh, OK. But so he's not really getting a reaction. And that's I think it's a human reaction with Drew and what Melody. Melody, yeah. So, yeah, it was a little weird. Yeah.
[00:16:04] Yeah. And Angela really, I do think that her thing that really gets her upset is people trying to trick her. And this is an example of the thing that she didn't want to have happen this season. Here is a blatant example of somebody trying to trick her.
[00:16:23] I think that's exactly it, Rob, because, look, Angela is only the most recent example of a long list of reality TV contestants who come back into a game and say this time I'm different. I've changed. We've seen a bevy of them in Survivor 50. And look where the vast majority of those went.
[00:16:43] And I have to imagine it must be incredibly tough to have that moment if you do in the game where you realize I have not changed at all. This is who I am. And we'll certainly get into this. You know, they didn't show some of the other stuff Angela was doing on the feeds in this episode. Maybe we'll see it tomorrow night.
[00:17:05] But I have to imagine from Angela's perspective, yes, there is a good amount of hurt that happens because, again, she felt this incredibly tight personal connection with Jason, felt very connected with him on a level only for him to kind of like throw these these. What seemed like very heavy topics of conversation to her, throw them away like they were nothing. But then at the same time, it's also serving as a bit of a confirmation bias to Angela of like, nope, you're always just going to be that person who tries to make close relationships, but ends up getting tricked.
[00:17:34] And look, you could quibble about whether or not that was actually the case in Big Brother 26. That was maybe her truth, not the truth. But I think it stung doubly hard because it also meant to her like, you're not so far away from Big Brother 26 Angela, as you might think. Mike, do you know who I think that person was in Survivor 50? The I don't want to be tricked person. I mean, that's Joe. No, it's Joe. Right. I would say that I would say that Jason has more of the Joe storyline considering his hatred of Rick Devins. Yeah, it's so interesting that.
[00:18:04] So here's this person who's connected with Rick Devins again, who Joe was coming off of a season. I just don't want to be tricked. I don't like that. But Angela seems to have a different mindset where I think that she's like, OK, well, now two can play at this game. That's certainly not how Joe looked at Survivor. Yeah, I would certainly say so. I don't know. What do you think, Jacob? Like, do you think that Jason has room to recover from here? Obviously, he couldn't be on the block this week.
[00:18:33] But like considering that Drew outed everything to the vets, is he DOA the minute he's not safe? I think basically he is. But on his side, he isn't. So I think, yeah, he thinks he has something genuine with Drew and with Melody. But on the other side with Lala, with Taylor, with Rome. I think Rome's on that side. Is Rome on? Yeah, Rome is on that side. So with them, I think he's good. But with the other side, I think it's complete.
[00:19:03] And especially how Drew is going around. Everybody, you know Jason was saying this. Jason was saying that. Jason was saying this. And getting the crew riled up. Yeah, he's toast. I hope he can. But he seems very charismatic that he can. Yes. Oh, Angela, you know that was a key. Come on. You know I didn't mean that. You my girl. Very Kiki Palmer-esque. That I feel like Jason has in him. Yeah, he seems like he does have some really great abilities to be able to do this.
[00:19:33] It seems like he can pull people together. So I'm not totally out on him yet. And I also think that he still has the bonus life of that if he is busted, he does have the ability to reveal himself to the other icons and join them. That's so silly. See, I was just conspiring against you so it would hide our eventual reality TV star alliance. No one would expect it. Yeah.
[00:20:03] Do you think he wouldn't do that, Mike? I mean, when you're backed into a corner, you can do anything desperate, especially with someone like Jason, who I think is kind of suffering from the over gaming that we see from a couple of people, especially this early on in the season. I mean, we're not even talking about the fact that he made like three separate trios over the course of one evening and then presented to tell the other trios about the other trios he had going on. I mean, this makes sense.
[00:20:29] If you didn't see, you know, his most recent season of Drag Race, like he proved he was a social strategy girly by trying to he made alliances with like half the people in his group. But then he ended up getting betrayed by one of said allies when he needed it the most. And so I think his his ability to have a bunch of fingers in a bunch of different pots is difficult when the water starts to boil.
[00:20:54] And he comes from the school of I just want to sit everyone down and tell them that I'm a social media mogul. Yeah. So the house of grande. So the secrets in the chamber will come out. And I definitely think he's capable and willing and will most likely do. This was an interesting night with Melody on the episode.
[00:21:19] I really felt like that we got maybe a bit of a villain edit from Melody. Jacob, how do you feel about Melody? Um, I think I think Melody is. Oh, I think Melody is a freak and a fraud. A freak and a fraud. Yeah, I think I just saw a video of her sitting on Rome's lap being like something about under boob and Rome doing. Where are you? I think you're mixing up Melody and lyrics. Oh, wait, I am.
[00:21:50] Yes, I was going to say. Does lyric know about this? Okay. Rob, who you tell me about? Melody. What is the two music names? The two, Lyric and Melody. I'm ready to get out the lyrics. So you next, next question. We'll go to Lyric. We'll talk about Lyric next. Yeah, I think, I think Melody is the. Is that your songwriting process, Jacob? Usually go with the Melody first and then the lyrics. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. But you want to know something? Melody is the fraud with her, with her pairing of Lyric. So Lyric takes the other F. Melody takes the fraud.
[00:22:20] Fraudulent. Across the board, you're telling a girl that thinks she's safe with you. Oh, I'm not going to use the power on you. You going around the house saying, hey, this girl that I've been hanging out with, kicking with, I'm not really that close with her. I see she's in deep stuff. I'm not that close with her. And they're all clocking your T. Oh, my gosh. Boo on you. You're saying, oh, my God, the way she reacted, the way you're flicking this girl off you and not thinking no one is caught up on game. Oh, please. So I'm not feeling it. I don't like the melody. Yeah.
[00:22:51] It's tough. You know, if you if you don't like the melody, it's tough to get into the lyrics that way. Then you can. Yeah, I do feel like melody is someone who has a very good game sense. Like it does make sense on paper that, hey, if not only someone you're closest to is getting nominated, but like you catch when that they're being nominated because like they might be affiliated with the trio.
[00:23:16] And they're also slowly becoming persona non grata because of the way they're reacting to this, even though I think Mallory certainly within her right to react the way. But she certainly does. I think it makes sense on paper to be like, OK, who's Mallory? I think the way she went about it, though, was ham fisted, to put it mildly. Yeah, it was bad all around. It was bad to Mallory where she said, yeah, I probably won't use the veto on you.
[00:23:44] It was bad to D when she went up there and said, hey, just so you know, I'm not close with Mallory at all. And I know what you're thinking. So I'll answer FAQ. Am I close with the early? No. Hate the girl. Yeah. Horrible. Don't even like rockets. I want to stay on the earth. So she was trying to do all this politicking and then just all the way around, everybody gave her negative reviews for how she handled this. And I wasn't surprised because if I clocked it from the screen, imagine how they're feeling.
[00:24:14] You've been hanging out, kicking it with this girl. And now you want to denounce her when she's in a bad situation? Like that just does not make sense. And that's not effortless. Melody has no, what do they call it? What do they call it? Game. Like game, not in the strategic manner. Game in the people reading. When to put things down. When to pack things up. When to move away. She just doesn't have that concept with her. And what's more, if she is distancing herself from Mallory because she feels like Mallory is making a bad first impression.
[00:24:42] What first impression are you giving off, Melody? By being like, I guess to quote the aforementioned Kiki Palmer, I don't know this woman. I don't know it at all. All right, Jacob, tell us about Lyric and Rome. Okay. So I just, before I hopped on and turned the camera on, I turned on my phone and I saw a video. Oh, this bikini makes me have, I never, Rome acting like a dog.
[00:25:13] I'm like, oh, they getting freaky in the Big Brother house. It's crazy. Day two, day four, you asking, oh my God. Can you see me outside of here? We on day four. I just got out of a Love Island coma that I am glad that I am freed from. Yes. They had me by my throat. Yes. Chose up. So same. And I liked it. And I would do it again. So I didn't want to come to Big Brother to see people day two kissing in the bed, thinking about having babies in the Big Brother house, thinking about cuddling every night.
[00:25:42] Oh, can I sneak off with Lyric? Lyric's so good at making us make sure we have our alone time. What the hell is this? So I'm not for it. And, well, you know what? If I'm in a hotel, this is day two. If I'm in a hotel for I don't know how long and I come in and I see something nice. Oh. So you can't blame me. I don't know. How about that? I don't know. You should take a lesson from Messenger from the future. Howie, find a jack shack in the house. That's how the icons got through it back in the day.
[00:26:12] Yeah. Mike, I did feel like that there was a shift in Roman Lyric where that in Sunday night's episode, I felt like that Big Brother was kind of goofing on Roman Lyric. But I did feel like that it was getting a little schmoopy by episode number three tonight. Well, I mean, Mr. Announcer said it best. Shakespearean-esque dialogue of, meanwhile, Lyric and Rome were building a partnership less on strategic gameplay and more on smoochy smoochy.
[00:26:39] Allow me to take the polar opposite opinion of Mr. Jones here. I'm digging Roman Lyric. It's limetime, baby. I'm on the limewire. I'm downloading those lyrics. Let's download the song. Because here's the thing to me. Like, it seems like they are very authentically into each other. And say what you want to.
[00:27:04] Again, everyone has different barometers as to, like, how much should showmances be mixed into this game that we love so much and especially the edit. But, like, I see the candor and authenticity in the words that they're saying to each other. They might have these BB goggles on at this point. And, you know, yeah, when things, as soon as they get into the outside world, maybe they ditch each other's numbers. But, like, as weird as the timeline might be, this is the time trip season. We are truncating a usual showmance timeline here.
[00:27:32] So, day two, day four, day 77, be damned. It seems like they are authentically into one another. And, you know, they bring up someone like Brenchel, who I thought was such, like, a fun, weird dynamic as well. Where even at the time, it was a very similar discussion of, like, these two people are immediately attracted to each other. Like, this is not going to last.
[00:27:55] Right? Like, these things usually either become very long fuse leading to the bomb or it just blows up in their hands instantly and nothing comes of it. But it ends up becoming not only a lasting marriage with two children, but ends up becoming one of the major storylines of the season. And I will also say that, like, I think something that also maybe raises the tide a little bit in my positive affiliation towards the two of them is, like, they seem like a relatively non-problematic couple.
[00:28:25] You know, like, say what you want to about Rome's, I guess, attempted motorboating or, I guess, implied. He just acted like a dog. Well, he's from Florida. They're used to those fan boats, not that motorboat. But I think that, listen, we have certainly, especially maybe the past couple of years, dealt with some showmances that were not the best to watch on the feeds.
[00:28:49] Behaviors across myriads of the definition were bad, but the show cleaned it up a bit into, you know, a sweeping romance. And I don't really feel like, to your point, Rob, we're getting that here. Like, it seems like these are two nice people who are very into each other. And so I don't necessarily see a problem with it. Okay. All right. We'll see where the Lyme relationship goes from here. Mike, you brought up Howie returning to the house. Let's talk about the veto competition.
[00:29:20] We had a really complicated plot for the veto. I saw Mike posting on ChatPCC. You were delirious of how much you enjoyed the complicated plot line for the veto. Is it a volcanically hot take to say that the premiere of Big Brother 28 was maybe one of my favorites ever? Favorite premiere?
[00:29:41] I am obsessed with their decision to somehow bring, like, a tapestry of canon into the Big Brother units. Everybody sees this a little bit right with, like, Ainsley and Hotel Mystere. That, like, maybe they'll do season-long storylines.
[00:29:57] But here comes Howie having to memorize and read a Star Wars crawl of in the year 2248, Dr. Will Kirby pulled a Biff Tannen and traveled forward through time to get futuristic tech to then travel back and become some sort of, like, progenitor of eugenics, it seems.
[00:30:18] Which is also, like, a very weird, dark theme that we're getting into, like, Dr. Will saying, the beautiful people will survive and the ugly will turn to soil beneath our feet. Jacob, what was your reaction to Howie returning from the future to save us from Dr. Will? I liked it because it gave me who I wanted to see. Yeah.
[00:30:42] And who I wanted to see was who I believe is one of the best-looking men on reality TV, period. I'm Julie Chan introducing the icon to the icon house. Rob, and I'm a little jealous that you got to sit on a podcast with him for hours. Yes. And when I tell you, I watched every second of it on YouTube and I watched it. I didn't just listen. I watched it. Yeah.
[00:31:08] I thought you were talking about Howie up until the last five words there, Jacob. Please, Mike. Please. Yeah. I continue to get interesting and often unusual messages from Dr. Will. I'm very happy with my relationship with Dr. Will currently in the year 2026. And I like that he's only gotten sillier. Yes. Yes.
[00:31:34] I do wonder if Dr. Will had a, in his contract that he did not have to interact with Howie in this setup. Well, if, you know, there was a nickel every time that Dr. Will asked to not interact with certain cast members from Big Brother All-Stars, just had it onto the list. Yeah. Mike, we're supposed to see Howie. I feel like not somebody that typically is in the rotation to get brought back. That's the thing is that certainly we've seen past house guests show up.
[00:32:02] I mean, Big Brother is like low key, maybe in its most meta era ever. Yeah. In that last season, again, we had a bevy of returnees show up, not only in the form of Rachel, but obviously Casey showing up for the veto. I mentioned the three-headed Hydra that was the mastermind. Dr. Will showed up there as well as the red herring. Tyler, like, seems like the show is more and more committing to putting notable names and faces of the past on our screen in some way.
[00:32:29] But Howie kind of felt like a relatively deep pull. I think my favorite thing about this, though, gentlemen, is over under three people who knew who this man in black carrying a corded phone was. Yeah. What do you think? Barrett, maybe Drew. And Angela. Angela. Well, Angela. Yes. Okay. Jacob. No, I don't know. Angela might not have remembered him from the front. Right? We got the back story about the Big Brother cruise.
[00:32:58] Jacob, are you interested in setting sail on the Big Brother cruise now that you heard about how it goes? Even though I like cruising. I'm joking. I am not interested in going on the Big Brother cruise at all. Angela's biggest daredevil attempt was her being dared and getting up with her purse and whooping it up with Howie. You know. Can I say, I saw on Blue Sky tonight footage of Angela with her purse.
[00:33:28] Why did you guys not shell out the Big Brother cruise? Why don't you shell out the Big Bucks to get that footage? I wanted to see that actually played on our screen. So maybe the affairs of Howie Gordon decided to put a cease and desist on that. Yeah. This Big Brother cruise gets pretty wild. I'm not surprised, though. You pick people that are stuck in the house, stuck on a boat with alcohol, with vibes. All right. Going up. Yeah.
[00:33:57] Mike, was there also a scandal around the Big Brother cruise or is that a different reality? Was that the challenge cruise? I mean, it's a little bit of one in the same. There's kind of a common denominator there. There. And so I believe that the Big Brother cruise went off with slightly less of a hitch and that it actually did leave the port. And it seemed like at the time things were going OK. But once they dry docked, I think any sort of merriment dried up. But God, they'll always have the white party.
[00:34:27] Yeah. Yeah. OK. What's the white party? That was what Angela said. She said that she was attending the white party. Oh, they were all dressed in white. And Kamu was like, oh, tell me more. Yes. OK. Yes. Yes. OK. So we had this whole back story of that. Howie was coming back to save them from the clutches of Dr. Will as Mike has broken himself. And objectively wild.
[00:34:55] This is like this is like if you took the worst fan fiction writer you ever met and say, OK, watch one episode of Big Brother All Stars. I write something about it. It's like, well, I kind of like the the big guy and the man who's insulting him. All the time. What if we created some sort of far flung future storyline? Because that's what I'm really into where this man is an evil overlord, dictator of the world.
[00:35:18] And this man has to go back in time and have the flexibility to do so, but seemingly not to move his neck at all when he's talking to these house guests and be able to somehow get them in this day and age to plug in a bunch of PVC piping to destroy his empire. Where's the hole, Mike? A lot of holes in that pipe, unfortunately, for most of these contestants.
[00:35:41] It's it's I really hope every single week they bring in somebody who has to essentially pull out a novella, almost like Dirk Space Jammer. Of course, Ian Terry's infamous character. Maybe maybe there's like a writer looking to break his way into Hollywood who's trying to cut his teeth on Big Brother. All these veto episodes are going to be 90 minutes on Wednesday. So I think that we're going to fill up a lot of the time with exposition. No, set it all up.
[00:36:08] OK, so we had the power of veto competition and this one seemed like it was a real runaway for Mallory. Which I was happy to see. I love a story from crier to comp and she did that. And I was more excited to see Melody have to eat her words, have to be like, you know, now I want to see how she moves up to this. But I was happy to see it. But I also love the fact that I believe like, you know, maybe the bare bones, the pipes of this competition are things that we've seen before.
[00:36:37] But this seems relatively new in terms of a general challenge design. And, you know, while we're on the other side, quite literally starving on Survivor for like new competition ideas. It's nice to see this. I could have sworn, Mike, that these vetoes were throwbacks. And I think that maybe the chat can tell us, I think I thought I saw that it was a throwback and this was a comp that was from BB11 even. So let me know in the chat.
[00:37:03] But I think that these that what they are doing and Survivor 50 did not do this, that I think that they're trying to run some classic challenges this season. Oh, you know, I do remember Julie talking about this in an interview preseason that like time travel might mean that we take a competition from the past. I thought you think if they would, they'd make more mention of it. You know, maybe not to them, because, again, I'm not sure how much that Dr. Will sequence went over like a lead balloon in the room.
[00:37:32] How he's just standing there staring at them. You don't think they liked it? They're like, who is this guy? Yeah. OK, well, you mentioned Julie Chen Moonves, Mike. I would love to know, did you have any interesting takeaways from your conversation with Julie today? Oh, so many. Julie Chen Moonves is in a wild era. Yeah. Her big brother hosting.
[00:38:01] Like, I feel like she has low amounts of F's to give in the world in general. I think she is very happy with her lot in life and on big brother as well. And so she's kind of a little footloose and fancy free when it comes to her opinions. And she told me, I'm sure she told you as well, that, you know, she was breaking down the Survivor games. She admits she was a nonbeliever. Yeah, I didn't like that when I saw what she said, Mike. Yeah.
[00:38:28] So she had said to me in a number of outlets that like she admits she was not particularly happy when she heard that there was going to be Survivor players on her season. I think that we have this this image in our heads of some sort of Pangea like community of CBS reality shows where it's like Jeff's like, come on over beast mode cowboy. And Phil Cogan's like big brother contestants racing around Europe. Sign me up. The truth of the matter is everyone's like very proud of their own little territory.
[00:38:55] And they don't really love the idea on paper of people jumping over just because they've been on another CBS reality show. For what it's worth, Julie said she did her homework when she got to know them a little bit more. She was a little more intrigued. But she is much like a Project Runway, which recently returned. She's very in on one and she is very out on another Survivor player. Who is she out on? D? No, she loves D. She feels like D is made for this game.
[00:39:25] D is not get this game. Oh, OK. That's interesting because I thought I had read that she had said that she liked Rick Devins because he's a newscaster. I mean, she certainly liked that part of him. And Julie certainly finds things that she associates with in other people. She said that I asked her for a winner pick and she said that before the season. She put down five dollars on Drew because she liked his story. She also, which I feel like feels a little like a couple steps away from Cal. She's insider trading there. But she also liked Lala because she's like she is 57.
[00:39:55] I'm 56. She's from, you know, Manhattan. I grew up in Manhattan. But I Julie really felt like Rick telling one alliance about the other alliance was a massive faux pas. She was very much team D when it came to that storage room reaction. Yeah. Come on, Julie. Get with the times. This is nothing burger. Ashley even said nothing burger. Not a big deal. Yeah.
[00:40:23] Jacob, we got to see Julie pulled out pocket Jesus in our interview with her today. I did see that screen grab and I was kind of amazed. She's I think she loves the fact that people think that it's not saying the the what's her podcast called? Jesus one on one. God one on one. God one on one. God one on one. God is my son. Yes. And so I feel like she like she gets that people are in on.
[00:40:52] Oh, yeah, I know. I'm kind of, you know what I'm doing, but I don't mind it. Let's let's keep it. So I'm here for it. Yeah. So, yeah. Fun chat. Fun. Quick chat with Julie. If you want to check that out up on the YouTube channel and in the podcast feed. Let's talk about the replacement nominee that got selected. We got to see a little bit of Ashley in the beginning of the episode. Jacob, she finally got to have the burger. She never had a burger her entire life.
[00:41:22] Now, I saw this scene and I immediately thought liar just because it's kind of, you know, fraud or freak and a fraud. She's a freak. She's a fraudulent. She's a fraudulent freak. Yeah. So, but I thought like, you know, when the hot girl wants to seem quirky and cool. Oh, guys, I've never tasted water. Is this what it tastes like? Oh, my God. You never had water? Ever? I've never had it. I've never had it. Get at it. What?
[00:41:52] Can I have it my first time? You're so interesting. Exactly. I'm so interesting. I think she's so hot. She's so cool. She's so beautiful. Let me throw this quirky thing in. Haven't had a beef. You haven't had ground beef or turkey or vegan with bread and lettuce and tomatoes and mustard and ketchup and whatever and onions and grilled jalapenos and cheese. And you know what? You haven't had that? Oh, OK. I also I doing a little bit of research on Ashley.
[00:42:19] She obviously has played a significant role on one of the barstool shows. And I believe I saw a clip where she said she has never eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in her life. What? She's doing material. Yeah, but she's cycling. She's recycling it. She's recycling it. Yep. Every every show, every media outlet. Next time it's going to be. I haven't breathed before. I'm going to be looking at her crazy. Never had pizza ever. It's crazy. Yeah. You haven't had crust, mozzarella. No. OK. Tomato. You haven't had a lunchable?
[00:42:49] No. Never. OK. It's crazy. So that was really all we saw of her in the episode. And then we got to see after Mallory won the veto, we started to see Ashley pop up. And so, like, D has created this structure of, like, well, I have to. Now I had picked one person from each group. And the only group left that I haven't touched is Barrett and Ashley. That's the. That's. I have to pick one of those people now.
[00:43:18] It's D the just. Right. I think some other HOHs, if they're ascribing to this logic, could say, like, well, if Mallory came down, then another must come up in her place. So I must take the other person who's remaining from that group. But Dr. Sean style, it gets skipped over. Luckily, that group has already been represented in this House of Representatives style of the block. And so it goes to Ashley and Barrett. And Ashley, maybe there's a reason why she didn't eat a burger in her life, because she
[00:43:46] had very little beef with D after this. She seemed to take it very understandably. Yeah, she took it well. I guess in the real time, she was trying to throw Barrett under the bus. We don't get any of that here in the episode. I mean, that's I guess the pros of sticking to such a weird set of rules for yourself is that if Ashley is trying to follow D's logic here, she can't really suggest anybody else. And listen, certainly at the time, there was a lot of other names that were thrown out
[00:44:15] actually by the red corner. More so they were pushing for Lala more, which had D saying all sorts of stuff to the camera when their backs were turned. But if you're Ashley, you can't necessarily be like, yeah, I need you to break your rules and nominate this other person and kind of have to play the game that you've been given. And in that case, it's like, well, I wasn't the only one. Yeah. And we got a tease that D was considering Melody also in addition to Ashley, but Ashley ends up being the pick.
[00:44:45] Jacob, let me get your take on what do you think about Ashley? She's never had a burger. She's never had peanut butter and jelly, but she loves to eat a can of peas. See, that's where I that's where I have the major disconnect. I don't understand her. I don't know her. And sometimes I forgot she was really on the show until I till she had her moment eating peas straight out of a can, not even putting them on a pot to boil. Oh, not my type of girl at all.
[00:45:10] You know, maybe with the time trip thing, she is some sort of like orphan circa the 1890s who got sent forward. Like, all I can eat is a can of peas. I can't afford no meat. And she's British too. Apparently. Yeah. Okay. Well, we'll talk more about Ashley. I think in a little bit. Let's talk about Lala had a big segment today. Jacob, we found out all of Lala's injuries.
[00:45:38] In 2011, my arm got cut off. In 2009, my head came completely off. My eyeballs, both of them came out. My feet, I cannot use them. Lala, I love a redemption story, but damn. Yeah. I mean, is she some sort of cyborg at this point? And I feel like she's got to be more like, she's either more metal than women or like they're, they brought in a lot of replacement parts. It's like the ship of Theseus there. Yeah. Yeah. Like Dr. Will, she's just a circuitry and wires at this point.
[00:46:08] I mean, she compared herself to RoboCop. She did. Yeah. And Chuck was so inspired. It was like a twofer of that. We got a Lala segment. And then also Chuck talking about Lala. That was, I think his only screen time. No, I am really nervous because if Lala tore not one, but two knees walk into the train, like these big brother competitions are pretty high impact. And then she has to jump from the wall to get off when she's eliminated.
[00:46:36] Like we need extra cushions. She's going to be in a full body cast by week five. Shout out to Lala. But also Lala can move. We've seen Lala move and groove and dance. We've seen the body tattoos on Lala. We've seen, you know what I mean? So, you know, Lala kind of, she's a girl. She can hang and bang. She can hang and bang. And her bones were hanging off her body after she went on that train. Yeah. How about Angela? We got to see her.
[00:47:06] She was hanging out in the tub. And then she was just like laying in the tub for no reason. Not bathing. Just like, okay, I'm just going to sleep in the tub. Talking to Barrett. And then she broke the tub. Yeah. What's that game they used to play in the Big Brother house? Big booty, big booty, big booty. Oh, yeah. Big booty. Work, Angela. Yeah. She knocked the faucet off of the tub.
[00:47:35] I don't know if they give you like, do you have to put a deposit down when you go into the Big Brother house? Yeah, I do wonder. Does it get taken out of your stipend? Or maybe, you know what? Maybe next week they're going to send like a sexy plumber. Summer in to host the next veto competition. Okay. I mean, as much as... Chicken George. Chicken George. As much as I've heard them taking, you know, deodorant off the block, mouthwash, you breathe too much air, it's docked. So I would say, you know, the repair cost is definitely coming out of Angela's place. Listen, you know, do we blame shoddy craftsmanship here? Like, was it a little bit of a slap job
[00:48:05] to get this type of stuff together? You know, do we blame Fessy for breaking the sink by sitting his deft posterior upon it? Or do we blame clearly the sink manufacturer for not load testing this gargantuan man sitting upon it? So fair. You have a point. Okay. They need to Angela proof every device in the house, is what I'm saying. I want to talk about the vote. I want to talk about what's been going on on the live feed. Is there anything else from this power veto episode
[00:48:35] that you want to mention? I think Yash can... Yeah, I had high hopes for Yash when he first got in, Rob. And shout out to your video that I kikied and cackled over. I am very much... I feel connected to Yash because I have lived a day of his life. Yeah, you have. You really have. Y'all are one and the same. I think his approach of, yo, D, I'm hurried. What you going with? Like, you put me up. You lied to me, basically. It was not smart.
[00:49:03] And I thought he had... But he also... I was going to say, I thought he had more social awareness to not do that. But he also seems like, I don't really care. I go with how I feel based off his content online. And so I was sad to see that because it kind of made him plummet in my stock watch. Yeah. He's not giving us much. I see something in the chat scene saying, no butt should be able to break a tub. But people know watching the live feeds that Angela can, what did you say, throw ass?
[00:49:33] Throw ass. Yeah. Just like Nolan Ryan throwing that ass around. Okay. All right. So we're going to talk about the feeds and the vote here in just a minute. Let me just tell you about everything else that we have going on over on the Rob is a Podcast Patreon. The Big Brother 28 season pass is in full effect. We've got so much coming up here over on our Patreon. We launched a brand new show that we started doing this season.
[00:50:02] The Big Brother 28 mailbag where Taryn and I are going to answer your mail questions every week. And this week we started it off. And Mike, this is something I did for Survivor after the season. We figured out the current win probability of everybody in the season. And we're going to track it all season long, find out what everybody's percentages are right now to win the game. And we will track it all season long
[00:50:30] on the Big Brother mailbag. We posted it for everybody, but it will be a patron show later on this season. And then also on the patron feed, last night I got together with Chappelle for the kickoff to the slop. It was a sloppy start to Big Brother 28. And we had a lot of fun going through all that in the patron feed. And then on Fridays, we will have also the Big Brother Q&A
[00:50:58] where I will take your questions live every Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern. But in the meantime, let's talk about what's been going on over on the ye olde Big Brother live feeds. Here we go. The Office of Civil Defense has issued the following message. This is a spoiler. Warning. A spoiler. Warning means that an actual spoiler against this country has been detected and that protective action should be taken.
[00:51:28] I wasn't ready for Mike Bloom to throw ass. I wasn't either. I almost pulled a Lala there, broke my pendant. Yes. You almost broke the mic. I've been broken for years, Jacob. Yeah, I might need a minute to recover from that, Mike. I know. Listen, too much blistering booty for your own eyes. I should have asked you to wear those shades. Yes. My ass. Okay. Angela said. Okay.
[00:51:57] Mike. Boy, it's been a busy day so far, right? A busy couple of days. We got Waffle Wednesday started a little early, Rob. The nominees were locked in on Monday, but things are far from locked in. Can I add, I am excited because I will be on the live feed update tomorrow. Oh, my God. So I've been keeping a particular eye on things today. Yeah.
[00:52:25] I mean, it's been going back and forth. I mean, the thing about these three nominees is that no one's particularly like going to bat for any of them. I mean, the reason why they were nominated is because D felt like they were relatively unconnected. They would cause the least amount of waves. And that's bearing proof here.
[00:52:46] It's more so them kind of being used as proxies as we are slowly approaching the possibility of a split house for this vote, depending on how it shakes out with the blockbuster. Yeah. Jacob, the three nominees are kind of like three, three nothing targets. It's not really any like big high profile targets that are on the board.
[00:53:12] But, you know, if this was a game of chess, I guess somebody's pawn is going to go home this week. Somebody's pawn is going to go home and I have who I would want to go home. Who would it be? It would be Ashley. Ashley, somebody told you that you're going on the block, even though you tried to suggest another person. They said, nah, baby, it's still you. And you didn't have no stink about it. Alicia came to her face and was like, yo, you did this. I feel like Taylor is on that other side than D.
[00:53:42] And I just kind of I don't know. I'm sick in a way that I feel like I know which side is winning. And I want that side to get blocked every which way. So I'm hoping that Ashley can just be gone. Yeah. So, Mike, things were looking pretty good for Ashley yesterday. Yeah.
[00:54:02] So let's break this down here, because as is the case with the blockbuster era, since there's three nominees going into there is in true Jose fashion scenarios to talk about. I think the thing that's remained the most consistent is that Yash, if he stays on the block, is going to be gone no matter what. If it's Yash versus Taylor, it's pretty much it's going to be the biggest landslide vote. He's going to go over Taylor.
[00:54:29] Now, what's interesting is that last night slash this morning, the ideal thing happened for D and Devens in that the red corner and the crossover alliance essentially merged. They both agreed, OK, let's get Taylor out because Angela started spreading the word of there's this big alliance that was forming. They're all going into the gym. Rome is calling them in like a Roman emperor.
[00:54:57] It's him. It's Lala. It's Jason. It's Taylor. It's the littles, Melody and Lyric and Mallory. And so we want to take out Taylor because that's someone from their side. It'll make Lala weaker for the challenges so that she breaks her other hip in the next one. Let's do it. And so they have there's there's eight of them with that combined alliance. But since D can only vote in the event of a tie, there are seven of them.
[00:55:26] And so their hope would be that, you know, their seven votes would carry through to at this point. But get out Yash. The interesting scenario comes up, though, if Yash wins and it's Taylor versus Ashley, because this group red corner again, red corner and crossroads. I think red cross is what Taron and Jason and AJ came up with today on the update said that they want to keep Taylor.
[00:55:55] They want to keep Ashley. They want to vote out Taylor because, again, there's bigger circumstances that come from getting rid of Taylor here. And so they would have seven votes. Assumingly, this other side that they have painted as the other side would also have seven votes. And so it would be seven to seven. And in the event of a tie, the tiebreaker goes to D.
[00:56:16] Here's the rub. D, as much as she was able to get out of a corner by, you know, conscripting herself to promises with her nominations, she has promised Taylor to her face that she will keep her in the event of a tie.
[00:56:32] And so the weird thing about all of this is that if we face a situation tomorrow where it is Taylor versus Ashley, there's a nonzero chance that D's entire alliance votes to keep Ashley only for it to go to D, who then votes Ashley out of the house. So all of this was communicated in a manner of speaking to Ashley, you know, the crossover alliance.
[00:56:59] You know, it makes sense that, you know, we watched Argent, Argentina win their way into the World Cup finals because today was messy, for lack of a better term. We saw that they essentially communicate to Ashley, no one certain terms like, hey, Barrett will vote to keep you. Drew will vote to keep you. You have Devins, you have D, you have Kamu, Haley and Chuck.
[00:57:18] And then Ashley went over to Melody and Lyric and Taylor and were like, it was like, hey, and with a very sincere gesture, just so you know, I think a group has been telling me they have the votes to keep me. And all hell is lightly broken loose. Yeah, this is so great because Ashley was trying to tell Melody that, hey, I just don't want to see you on the wrong side of the vote.
[00:57:47] Like all these, listen, all these people are keeping me and I don't want you to look bad and not vote with the house. So you got to get it. Everybody's doing it. You got to vote. Like I'm helping you. I'm giving you this information because, hey, Newsflash, they're keeping me. And it's maybe has unsettled some things.
[00:58:15] Yeah. So, I mean, a little bit. There was a lot of talk about it today when the information came back to Drew that and Melody ends up telling him essentially what Ashley told him. He's pissed. He has a little bit of while where he's going to people being like, that's it. Ashley effed it up. We have to vote her out at this. I was going to say before the episode started, I saw a meeting between the icons where they were like, all right, no matter what, we are voting to evict Taylor in this event.
[00:58:43] Like, but then I also saw that despite this is going to be a runner, actually, Drew is coming to these people with information and his closest allies are like, I don't believe it. And so despite being told that, hey, there might be seven votes to keep Ashley in the game. I think there was a conversation between like Melody, Malorie and Lyric where they're like, I don't think that's true. I think we have the votes to save Taylor. Let's stick by our guns here.
[00:59:12] Jacob, what's your prediction for tomorrow night? My prediction is Yash wins BB Blockbuster. It is Ashley. It is Taylor on the block. Seven, seven. D makes the executive decision. No, they will talk about it before tomorrow. I think heads will come together and minds will collaborate. I think Taylor's out.
[00:59:36] So I will correct the record a little bit that it seems like over the course of the episode and as we've been talking here, it does seem like the crossover slash red corner have now defaulted back to evicting Ashley. So that's the fun of Big Brother folks that can go completely full circle. Yeah.
[00:59:57] And I do think that I felt like this week we did not have like a classic first boot here, but if Ashley played her way out of being completely safe this morning into being evicted tonight, I do love that as being like, and trying to tell people that she's safe.
[01:00:26] That's so fun. I mean, it depends, right? Because like theoretically, she was not necessarily coming out of a situation where she was locked in safe. She wasn't locked in safe. It was going to be seven, seven. Drew's hope was that he was going to swing Melody over, but it wouldn't go to a tie. But that was far from guaranteed. Yeah. But it was looking, it was trending very positive. I mean, certainly better than it had been the past couple of days.
[01:00:50] But I think it comes from the fact that, yeah, we have been kind of treated to a couple of stereotypical boots the past couple seasons, right? At these like alpha male guys who end up getting put on the block and get into fights with people who are in power and put a big target on themselves. And when they don't win the blockbuster, it's like, well, let's get rid of them now before they can win their way to the end. Ashley here was more so like, it's kind of like Kirsten from Big Brother 25, where it's just like she made a couple of key critical errors here.
[01:01:19] Or in this case, you need someone to kind of defend you in this capacity. And it doesn't necessarily seem like she has anyone defending her at this point to the point where I believe if it's her versus Yash, I think she's going to get evicted over Yash at this. Wow. So must win blockbuster for her specifically. Yeah. And we will say it is only 745 in the Big Brother house. So the night is young. Many things may change between now and then. Yeah.
[01:01:49] You could be in for a long night, Rob. Could be in for a long night. For sure. Can we also talk about as much as we saw a lot of lovely, again, very understandable emotional content from Angela. That was not the half of the Angela experience that we've gotten over the past 48 hours. Yeah. Go on, Mike. Because listen, on the episode, we saw that Angela took a lot of this information to heart.
[01:02:15] What was cut out is what happened after Drew left the room, which is Angela saying, you don't think that's real. Right. And so this is a little bit of confirmation bias as well, because even before all this information came out, Angela has not been able to trust Drew entirely. He reminds her too much of that rascally Quinn Martin. And so she doesn't want to get fooled again. And to me, Barrett seems like more of a Quinn. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:02:44] I mean, I think he's a couple of days away from telling D that she's sick nasty. Yeah. Yes. And so this to Angela was more of a little bit of a feeding of that theory, right? Of like, well, if Drew's telling D one thing and telling me and Devin's another thing, like, could he just be making this up?
[01:03:02] And this ended up spiraling in a very fun series of events yesterday where Angela and D are up in the HOH room participating in a classic symptom of HOH-itis, which is watching, much like Jacob Jones was previously, on mute the HOH camera, where they see Drew walking out of the gym. And remember, from Angela's big theory perspective, from the corkboard perspective, she thinks that this big alliance had a meeting in the gym. Rome was calling his council.
[01:03:31] And so when Drew walks out, he's like, I knew it. And he's doing stuff behind our backs. He's like, he played up like he was going to be our little puppy, but he was going to betray us the entire time. And so the two of them were whipping each other into a frenzy, being like, Drew is not loyal to us whatsoever. The most hysterical part of this was that they had staked out that HOH cam for like 30 minutes saying, all right, we got to see who's in that gym. They're having a meeting right now. We got to find out who's part of this clandestine organization. Cut to a completely empty gym.
[01:04:01] They were just watching to see whichever person would leave an empty room. Isn't that just a representation of paranoia? Luckily, by the end of the night, Angela gets talked a little bit off the ledge. You know, she doesn't go full, you know, low budget movie monologue, but she does call Drew droopy eyes, which is a couple of degrees removed from an iconic catchphrase in its own right. Yes. And then she could do the spelling D-R-E-W-P-Y-I-S. I think she unintentionally created some great Drew branding after the show. Mm-hmm.
[01:04:31] Yeah. Yeah. So it was a little taste of Angela. She's actually really been in her feels today. I think that's another moment where she's like, I'm falling for the same vices I did before. Like, I thought I was going to be different this time. And she, for what it's worth, she did say that she was going to game less today. And she certainly has. Now, we'll see because I believe the decision to flip the vote back to evict Ashley was not done with Angela in mind.
[01:04:57] And so, you know, T-minus however many minutes until Angela finds out about that, especially if she feels like Drew is the one responsible for it. But I would say we had like a little bit of like an Angela crash out light. Yeah. Not going full Angela crash out, you know, a little bit more of like a cherry bomb than a full firework. Is she a big Ashley fan? Her and Ashley had some pretty good connections. They don't have like a huge alliance going on. She's more well connected to people like Mallory, for instance.
[01:05:27] But her and Ashley have had some good conversations to the point where there is a very wild image that went around from yesterday where, again, the crossover is just being incredibly visible at this point. Flaunting their secret alliance in so many people's faces. Where this image of Dean Barrett cuddling. This is all out in the open, by the way, in the upper lounge. Drew next to them, whispering behind a pillow of the merits of keeping Ashley versus getting rid of her.
[01:05:53] And Neri, like two feet away from them, is Angela talking with Ashley. So Angela has kind of, I think, been labeled like the Ashley whisperer in a way. The two of them clearly have a tight bond. But I don't know how Angela is going to take this, especially considering that a couple of hours ago, she, Dee and Devin, her closest allies, had said, all right, no matter what, we're voting Taylor out. Okay.
[01:06:18] Jacob, we haven't gotten your reaction to the Dee and Barrett flirtmance. I think Barrett came in and I thought he, I think Barrett's about to be derailed. I think he's going to quickly take a pivot down the love boat and think he's on the wrong show. And I think Barrett, so I've had a little bit of interaction with Barrett. Oh.
[01:06:46] When I met him, when I met him, I had a little bit of interaction with Barrett before. Barrett used to have, and maybe he still does, like a YouTube, kind of like RBS. And when I did, yeah, like when I did a little one, two, I went on, I got to, and so he's, to me, I saw him, I was like, he's a very charismatic guy. And so it's no surprise to me that he could potentially pull someone like Dee.
[01:07:13] I just think he looks atypical, you know, like nerdy, geeky, but I can play basketball. And he's about to get the cheerleader. And I'm not saying he fits this stereotype, you know, traditionally, but the computer geek is about to get. High school musical. Yes. You know what I mean? I mean, Gabrielle is about to get Zac Efron or Troy.
[01:07:37] And I think he's like, wow, I got, I got a legend in the icon in the reality TV competition world somewhere. I've been, I think he's about to wear, twist him every which way, but loose. I don't think he looks nerdy. I think he looks quirky. Quirky is a better one. Maybe not full, I never, you know, take a bite of a vegetable in my life, Ashley type of quirky. But I think he had the overalls, you know, he kind of went like little Laney Briggs coming in. He's about to have his he's all that moment. D's all that. D's all that.
[01:08:06] That was the thumbnail the other day for the podcast. Yeah. All right. So, Jacob, you don't think it's going to go well for Barry. You think it's going to be a sad story? Not a sad story, but not one that he thought he would get into once entering the Big Brother house. I think he had high hopes of social and strategic prowess. That's the right word, right? Prowess. Prowess. Yeah. Prowess. And I think D's about to, again, turn him every which way but loose. Yeah. And she should.
[01:08:35] What's interesting, though, is, you know, Barrett is a devout Survivor fan. And D was a part of a very notable flirt man that, while led to some longevity on the island, perhaps not off, did not end well for the guy. And so, you know, you have to wonder if he has that in the back of his finally co-opped head as well. Right now, I think he's like he's very socially ingrained with everybody. I don't think we're in full Lime mode right now.
[01:09:02] We're not in code Lime of people being like, I see the two of them together. They're not helping things with the amount of PDA they've been showing so far. It's kind of like getting on, say, Rob, I don't know what your favorite show is back in the day or Mike. Like maybe it's what's that show with Pamela Anderson, Babe Watch. Babe Watch. Rob and I total Bayheads. Something like that, right? Say you get cast on Babe Watch. What if you were in the show? Yeah. And then you get to like, oh, me and Pamela, we getting close.
[01:09:31] I get to date the hottest girl on my favorite show. I think puppy dog, puppy dog. You know, so I think that's what we about to see, to be honest. I love that that was the reference that you went to. Yeah, Pamela, she was like y'all's time beach bombshell, right? You're kind of just describing the plot of Borat, Jacob. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
[01:10:01] We'll see where that goes. Mike, anything else you want to highlight from our sneak preview of the feeds from today? Yeah. I mean, I think that, you know, Drew is in an okay spot right now. But I would say keep a lookout. You know, it seems like right now the icons in particular are fine. Trusting him. Devin's in particular seems like he is the most loyal to Drew.
[01:10:26] But considering how much Dee and Angela were able to turn themselves into a tizzy over wordless dialogue. There was even a moment, I think, last night where Angela, like, walks up to Dee and Barrett and is like, oh, when Drew left at the time, how long did it take for him to come back? And they're like, Drew didn't leave. She's like, yes, he did. Yes, he absolutely did. And so I know that Angela is trying to stop herself. But I think it's becoming increasingly clear over the past few days that I think she is maybe teetering into truly falling into some old habits.
[01:10:56] As much as she might be talking about, like, the old Angela would do this, but the new Angela won't. Old Angela is starting to peak out a little bit. Jacob, who would you like to see become the new HOH? I would like to see Rome become the new HOH just so him and Lyra can go up there and what they want to do. I would love that as well. Not only because, like, you know, I don't know if their side's particularly losing if they lose Ashley, but, like, I think they're on the losing side of things this week.
[01:11:24] But Rome also, I mean, another reason why he sort of endears himself to me is, like, he kind of reminds me of a Bradley Cooper character from, like, every 2000s movie that he was in. You know, just sort of like the braggadocious jerk. And so I kind of take him less seriously that way. And so, listen, we've been well fed when it came to, like, second HOHs in recent memory. I'm thinking of Heysa. I'm thinking of Jimmy.
[01:11:48] And so I think if we put Rome in there and truly give him all the power for the week, it's going to be incredibly entertaining. I wasn't expecting Mike to come on and be such a big Lyme stan. I wasn't. I wasn't either. Yeah. My blood bleens Lyme. I need to go see a doctor about that. Dr. Whale, where are you? Got too much Will talks in me. You know who else would be really good as an HOH just because I think it would be so chaotic? Who? And I think it would go straight to their head. Jason.
[01:12:17] I think if Jason's going to, he's going to be like, all right, who really is the reality show icon? I think if you are already jonesing for the Red Cross. Yeah, exactly. For the Red Cross side of things to get shaken up next week, I think that's how you do it. I think you, I know he could really go for the jugular and put all three people up against each other and, you know, have all these people that are allied with them pick sides, have these three turn against each other one week after they were loyal to the soil with one another. It would be incredible.
[01:12:47] I think he's already been talking about like how he would sauter downstairs and make a big show. Hopefully not Todrick Hall style about what his nominations would be. Yeah. Is there a bad outcome for HOH? Because I kind of feel like that we could put on our rose colored glasses and get behind, I think, any outcome on Thursday night. I could. I could get behind it.
[01:13:12] I would say, yeah, I mean, I feel like, I mean, it depends on how the vote shakes out. Like if it doesn't end up being split as it is, I do fear an outcome where like if like a Chuck or a Haley or a Kamu win it, then it's just like, yeah, we'll nominate three people from the other side. Right. But you could talk yourself into like, well, okay, the, you know, D and Angela and Rick are going to be safe, you know?
[01:13:37] So it would not be as that fun, but you could say, okay, well, the fan favorites are going to be safe. And then who are they going to go after? The Taylor HOH would be interesting because like, I think that, you know, Mallory HOH would also be very interesting because she's one of the only people that's been dead set. I'm like, I'm getting revenge on D. Taylor herself, who has been nominated by D was like, I'm not too sure about that. I mean, she even, I think yesterday said like, I'll make a big alliance next week once I make it through.
[01:14:08] So like, it might be actually a very slow week if Taylor is HOH. But also, again, that's the fun thing about this type of house is that as much as they're talking about two sides, it is rather shapeless at this point. And so it's not like, okay, I can nominate these people because they're outsiders or these people because they were on the wrong side of the vote. I don't think we're going to get a huge surprise scenario now that Ashley is sort of locked in as one of the big consensus people to go.
[01:14:35] Maybe a Yash HOH just because like, again, I can kind of take or leave his personality. And so I don't necessarily, I think he'd be a relatively mellow persona with like relatively safe nominees. Will he secure the bag? Find out tomorrow night if he's there. Okay. Anything else from the feeds, the house, the week that was? I'm enjoying BB28 to be honest. And like, this is a nasty first week.
[01:15:05] Sick nasty? Sick nasty. Freak and fraud. Freaking fraud nasty. Yes. Freaking out of fraud. I will say it took me a little while to like, get the vibe of this cast. It took me a few days. I think we've also been very spoiled with having very, very good week ones in particular the last couple of seasons. But I think I've been getting more used to these personalities and especially this gameplay.
[01:15:33] I do feel like this is a cast where like everyone is playing right now. Maybe not particularly well, but in some way, shape or form. I don't feel like the icons are running away with it. I think, you know, to go back to Dee's tie-breaking promise here, I think that's a bad move for her to make. And so it's kind of nice to know like, all right, this is not someone coming in and dominating from the beginning. And so the fact that it's relatively wide open, the personalities seem pleasant to entertaining.
[01:16:01] And it seems like everyone is willing to try things at least has all the makings of an enjoyable season at least. Okay. All right. Tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. I'll join Taryn. We'll talk about it. Get ready, everybody. My first and probably only live feed update of the season coming up tomorrow as we kick off a big Thursday on RHAP.
[01:16:27] Of course, Julie Chen Moonves joined us earlier today. Check that podcast out as well. And I talked to Emily Flippen on Tuesday. Also, the common denominator between Rick Devins and Dee. It's Emily Flippen who compared herself to being Angela-like. I mean, it is interesting, right? Wasn't her survivor story that like the person doing the psyche valve said she was like Chaos Cass?
[01:16:57] There's a family tree with Chaos Cass and Angela. Should they have gotten Emily Flippen to play young Angela? That would have been funny. Iconic. Okay. All right. And then. All right. Mike, we announced we've got a brand new survivor show coming this offseason. Forget the Big Brother time machine. How about the survivor time trip? That's right. We're taking it back. You could use our players, but we're using your concept. Yeah.
[01:17:24] So this is a new offseason podcast series for Survivor where Rob and I are going to hop in our own dining table time machine and take a trip back to many different episodes from 50 seasons of Survivor. But in a twist, we'll be joined by some time travelers ourselves, much like Dr. Will. We're hoping to talk about these episodes alongside people who are actually there at the time to get their perspective into the episode, both in the edit and what we didn't see.
[01:17:54] So we're in the, you know, the habits right now of collecting a bunch of responses from people as to episodes and guests that we are going to bring on throughout this entire process. But it'll be a fun way to sort of dote on different parts of Survivor history and hear from the people who were actually there at the time. Okay. So look for the first episode of the Survivor Time Trip next week on RHAP. All right. What a night. So great to have Jacob Jones back here with us. Jacob, what have you been up to?
[01:18:25] Wait, I have a question before I say this. It's about Survivor Time Trip. Yes. Are you all talking about any scene from Survivor like Nicaragua or Survivor fan of his favorites too? I mean, if you want to put forward a pitch right now, we are. I would love to. I think the moment that Brenda Lowe told Dawn to take your teeth out. Yeah. Gotta make the list. Yeah. Take them out, Dawn.
[01:18:54] Who should we have on as a guest for that, Jacob? The person that just pitched it. So, you know, Brenda Lowe is one of my favorite Survivor contestants. Oh, the Black Mamba. The Black Mamba. I don't know why I like her so much, but I just revere her. That's an icon, to be honest. But, oh, but what do I have going on? So according to your logic, so no D, no Devin, no Angela.
[01:19:20] It should be Tiffany, Jen Johnson, and Brenda Lowe. I would pay to watch it. I would pay to watch it. I would. What are you talking about? I would. I would pay to watch it. I mean, Brenda was D before D, right? Brenda was D before D. Rob, thank you for having my back door. She really was. Yeah. Brenda was that girl. She had Chase Rice wrapped around her finger. Brenda said, Dawn, take out your teeth. D admitted to Mike White that her teeth were not hers. So for all we know, it could have been Dawn's teeth. Oh, wow. Yeah.
[01:19:50] But, oh, I make music. And under my alias, artist name Air, H-E-I-R. And I just put out a song named Jasmine, which is super sexy, super flowy, and just super good. And it reminds me of tonight, a very erotic night. Yes. So if you like it, you should let me know. If you don't, you should stand under a tree at about 1 p.m. after the birds have had their lunch and get blessed.
[01:20:17] And you can follow me at air, H-E-I-R.sound. And, yo, having more music, having more fun. I want to do more podcasts. I got the bug. Please. I got the bug. I got the bug. And I, like, this month, this year, I was like, yo, I couldn't wait for big. I don't know what was in me. Maybe Love Island really threw me back into that. You want to explore now. I want to explore, Rob. I really do. And thank you all for having me on tonight. I had the most fun with y'all.
[01:20:47] And, yeah, especially you, Mike, and you, Rob. It was a dream. So thank y'all. Okay. All right. Let us know in the chat if you want Jacob Jones to come back more. Is that even a question? Come on. I want to hear them, though. Yeah, I'd just like to see it. Okay. Mike, what else is coming up for you? When I'm not watching reruns of Baywatch in my swear time. It's a real throwback there. So I am, of course, covering Big Brother over on Parade.
[01:21:13] As you mentioned, my interview with Julie Chen Moonves were not just disparaging the game of Rick Devins. She also talks about her thoughts. She's perhaps even more pro-lime than I am. She said she's already planning their wedding. Oh. And she also gave her winner picks for Big Brother 28. Of course, I'll be speaking with the first person evicted on Friday, as you will, Rob. So plenty of stuff over there and a bunch of other scripted stuff happening as well over on Parade.
[01:21:40] Otherwise, you can check out everything I'm doing at a Mike Bloom time. And shout out to Jacob Jones. Again, one of the most delightfully unorthodox personalities I've ever encountered in my life. The icon. I eagerly await every time you get on the microphone, sir, whether to sing or to speak. And this time is no different. Thank you. Yes. And we have a very busy Thursday. I'll be on the live feed update. We'll have Summer of Stein and we'll have Eviction Night.
[01:22:07] We'll find out the first house guest who will be evicted from the Big Brother house. And we will talk about it here on Thursday night. So get ready for a big Eviction Thursday here on RHAP coming up tomorrow. Take care, everybody. Have a good one. Bye.
