BB28 Sunday Nominations Ep Recap, Week 2

Also available on YouTube.

Big Brother 28’s alliances get pushed to the edge as chaos strikes after the latest HoH shakes up the game. Rob Cesternino, Taran Armstrong, David Bloomberg, and AJ Norris team up for a Sunday recap packed with strategy talk and messy house moments.

Rick Devens wins HoH and, true to his Survivor roots, isn’t content to play it safe. With back-channeling and fiery DRs, the panel goes deep on Devens’ flashy nominations: Melody, Lyric, and Jason end up on the block, sending house loyalties scrambling. Angela’s influence comes into focusβ€”AJ thinks her manipulation steers Devens’ HoH move, making messy, fun TV but also suiting his game. The group debates whether Melody’s β€œbetrayal” in the HoH pairs comp really put her on the block, calling out a key production reshoot missing from the episode edit. Rome’s misstep in naming too many allies to Devens becomes a lesson in bad negotiation. Meanwhile, Angela relishes her β€œshowman” reputation, as her alliance gobbles up power and DR camera time, all while sporting the classic egg costume after winning the BB Time Capsule twist.

  • AJ spotlights Angela’s clever handling of Rick Devens, speculating her persuasion shapes the β€œbig move” nominations.
  • Taran explains how Melody’s switch in the HoH partner comp, due to a production reshoot, directly affects Devens’ nominationsβ€”though the TV edit skips this.
  • David breaks down Rome’s negotiation blunder, noting you should never name your full alliance to an HoH.
  • The group debates if Haley or Devens threw the final comp round, dissecting how throws and optics can reshape house perception.
  • Jason’s reaction to not winning the BB Time Capsule sparks laughs, with Taran suggesting his self-pity is extra performative.

With the house lines drawn and finger-pointing on the rise, power seems fragile, Angela, Rick Devens, and Dee hold sway, but are lines about to shift again? Will Rick’s chaotic HoH pay off, or did Angela’s push for drama set up more trouble ahead?

[00:00:08] Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cesternino back here for a Sunday night recap that was exciting, but maybe a little frustrating. We did not get to see everything come to its full completion unless we watched the live feeds of this, the greatest nomination ceremony in Big Brother history. But there's so much to talk about here on Sunday night.

[00:00:32] We're so happy you're here and we're so happy to be here with Major League Baseball's favorite podcaster. It's Taryn Armstrong. Oh, listen, I'm a messy boy. Messy is soccer, Taryn. Baseball's your new thing. Right. Right. Sorry about that. Yes. OK. All right. And fresh off of why Ashley lost with Chappelle, it's David Bloomberg.

[00:01:00] David, how are you? Good. Good. Yeehaw! You remember 1992, right? Yeah. Yeah. Actually, I kind of do. It was, you know, right when I started working and now I'm no longer working. So I'm happier now, probably. OK. All right. And we're also thrilled to have back here with us AJ Norris. AJ, how are you? I'm doing good. But David, I'll be honest with you.

[00:01:28] The RHAP audience, they follow Rob and Taryn too much. We need to start a war. We need to go to war. We need to take over. They are not going to run this podcast like they always do. I mean, you know, I'm really upset that they're getting too much camera time. I think it's too much. You know, if there were like a fan. Wait and see who gets the powers. Yeah. Yeah. Like I know the RHAP audience loves me. They're definitely going to vote for me.

[00:01:54] Yeah. Well, we got to see the BB time capsule and all of that here. They really did. There was a lot that they had to get to here on this Sunday night episode. We'll go through it all here tonight. And of course, if you were watching the episode live, the best place to be chatting along and following with all the alumni. I have to say, boy, but the alumni were really talking and talking a lot this weekend over on chat.

[00:02:19] BCC go to BB 28 dot chat to find out the latest of what everybody's saying about the things from the episodes and also controversies from the live feeds. All right. Boy, Taryn, we got to get through these. We got a two parter here. We I wasn't sure what we were going to get. We kind of that they did give us the nominations. They did not give us the aftermath. Yeah. And you know what?

[00:02:46] I mean, in terms of the amount of time they had, I'm honestly not that mad. There was a lot of fallout that happened from this and it wasn't just limited to the ceremony itself. So regardless of how much they were going to cut off, something was going to get cut off. Yeah. And so kind of putting it all in the next episode made some sense, especially considering that this was a 60 minute episode and Wednesday is going to be a 90 minute episode. And that continues to be a mistake in my eyes because we usually get better content on Sunday than Wednesday. But that's another story.

[00:03:16] Yeah. So we'll have to wait till Wednesday to see all of the fall. But that I guess, Taryn, without I guess, I mean, what are we really spoiling? It's not like they told us there's going to be a fight that this was a very interesting circumstance that happened on Friday night where we had the nominations. And then the feats came back like mid the ending of the nomination ceremony.

[00:03:44] Like we actually saw from where this ended onward on the feeds. Yes. Yeah, we I mean, we there's like a portion from the end of this episode to the beginning of the live feed started starting. But before the ceremony ends that we that we're still missing. But yeah, the feeds came back and Devin's had not ended the ceremony yet. There were still a lot of back and forth happening.

[00:04:13] So there's there is a lot to look forward. They're not teasing something that's not going to actually hit here. Yeah. OK, so a lot that we will end up seeing here on Wednesday night. David, how are you feeling at this hour with Rick Devins and his nominations? I mean, Rick, as I as I have mentioned, Rick has been a guest on Why Blank Lost. We know that he understands the strategy of things.

[00:04:43] But in the preseason, Chappelle predicted it perfectly and said he knows. But the showman in him is going to take over. And that was spot on. And I have to say, when when when Devin said, I'd rather go home playing a big game than stay playing a small game. Fans love that you want to see fun TV, but people evaluating strategy hate that.

[00:05:10] Yeah. Yeah. Look, Rick Devins is doing this for us. He's not doing it for him. Yeah. Yeah. He's here for a good time, not for a long time. I mean, I'm hoping it's both because. I do think that he still thinks about strategy and I think we'll see that, you know, maybe a little bit more going forward. But he also when he can when he can make something go boom, he's going to make it go boom.

[00:05:40] Yeah. The vets have too much of an advantage. They had a guaranteed first H.O.H. Now they're getting the powers one, two, three. Probably they've got another H.O.H. in their pocket. They're just trying to make it fun. They're just trying to make it a little more. They've still got plenty of advantage in despair. You know what I mean? Yeah. I'm glad we're getting to talk about this because I was thinking about this this morning. So we've watched Rick Devins play on Survivor for two seasons.

[00:06:06] And to my knowledge, Rick Devins has almost never been in a good position for a couple of days at the beginning of Survivor 50, really, where Rick Devins has always played from the bottom. Rick Devins has never been on the top. I don't think that Rick Devins necessarily knows what to do from playing from the top.

[00:06:29] And when we think about people who have dominated and have been great at playing from the top, people like Boston Robb or Kim Spradlin. And we think about like a Derek in Big Brother. They play boring. They play. It's it's dominant. It's, you know, a master class, but it's not exciting. And Rick Devins wasn't built for being in a good position.

[00:06:57] When you're in a good position, when you're at the top, you don't shake the foundation. You try to keep everything as calm and tidy and same as possible because you're in the good spot. The more things shake up, the more likely you are to fall off of that spot. So, you know, or at least it could be that way. Um, so, uh, so you do see those dominant players, uh, try to keep things a bit more stable.

[00:07:20] Uh, but again, like I actually, I don't even necessarily hate the move being made as much as the sloppiness in terms of like pulling everyone up into a room at night in a very obvious way. Uh, there's ways to have done this that wouldn't have been quite so, uh, potentially like exposing while still being really big and exciting. Yeah. AJ, I'd love to know from you, because I thought that is something that's in, in watching this back.

[00:07:49] We didn't get the diary rooms. Uh, and then we got Angela tonight talking about how I know Rick Devins. I know he's a showman. And I, I do feel like a little bit that this was Angela really doing a master manipulation on Rick Devins. I agree. I think, um, Angela, uh, understood who Rick was as a player. Like she's seen survivors. She understands who Rick is. And I think she pushed the right buttons for Rick.

[00:08:19] And I'm so happy she did. Like not just from like a pure entertainment standpoint, but I genuinely think where Rick was originally going with his nominations. I did not like for Rick's game. I feel like the nominations he ultimately ended up with, with a Lyric, with a Melody, with a Jason were like the perfect norms for him. Like Lala, Lala didn't care what Rick was doing into this game. Like Mallory, Mallory's just floundering around. Jason actively is once Rick's gone, um, in the game, he's talked about multiple people. Melody is the most dangerous person.

[00:08:48] That's not in his alliance. Full stop. She has the best game awareness and she understands how to move. She might not be the best social player, but she's like the person I would be terrified of. And Lyric, she doesn't talk to the man. So it's like, I feel like these are like perfect nonsense for Rick. So it just so happens to be perfect that the fun, exciting move also happens to be the like best move, in my opinion, for Rick's game. Like the issue here, Rob, is Rick's allies. Like, and I know you said Rick is a showman. Like Angela is the greatest showman. Like, okay, let's get the truth.

[00:09:18] Like Angela is here for the pizzazz. She's here for everything. It doesn't matter if she's in egg costume or she's not. She said, I'm here to go big. I want to take out Rome. I want to take a big shot at the other side. Like, why are we playing it safe? Like she was so ready to win this competition and shake the house. And she didn't care if she would be in a good or a bad position. Like the fact that in the nomination ceremony, Angela, not Angela, Jason called Angela out being like, this is your noms. Like it shows it. It shows in the, like, I think that's perfect for Rick. Like this is something Rick wanted to do.

[00:09:48] It benefits Rick's games and like someone else is getting all the money for it. And Angela and y'all talk about more on Wednesday or in the live feed update part, Haley. So I love this for Rick 100%. Yeah. I have to question. Yeah. I hate to question Angela. Do we really think that she had this idea to fire Devin's up because she knows he's a showman or she just wanted him to do what she wanted him to do?

[00:10:15] And then she kind of talked about that in the diary room afterwards. I mean, it had to come from somewhere. She certainly did approach him in a very fiery, firing up kind of way. She brought the enthusiasm. And that is abnormal for how Angela has pitched things in the past, at least certainly from her previous season. So I'm inclined to believe that it's something that at the very least she recognized was working in the moment, was able to comment on afterward.

[00:10:45] When he came to the house, she said he's a, she's a survivor fan. She knows who Rick Devin's is. So I think that Angela really, I think is keenly aware of the right way to get Rick Devin's excited about an idea. Like, I think there's been like some people online that's been like upset because they was like, hey, you put in three people who are returnees or veterans or icons, whatever you want to call them. And they're just going to work together. They're people that get along with each other. And like, yes, that is true.

[00:11:15] But these are three people that will hype each other up. Like these are three people that will say, this is a bad idea. No, let's make this worse. Let's just keep doing it. Like, let's take a step further than what we have to take it to. And like, that's why I love these three people, because it might not be a great game move. It might not be like a smart move, but like, it's going to be fun TV. Like, these are for fun TV. We don't get the money if they win. I don't care how good of a game you're playing. Am I enjoying the product? And so far, the answer is yes. Yeah.

[00:11:45] I just think it's so funny that they were so, they wanted to be so careful. Oh, well, now that the other side knows there's two sides, we've got to drop Ashley. I mean, not that Ashley was an integral part or anything, but, you know, we've got to drop her. We can't draw lines. You know, we can't let them know that we're here five minutes later. Okay, here we are. Yeah.

[00:12:07] I mean, it was a wild couple of hours from a 14-0 vote to hide the alliance to where we were by four o'clock in the morning on that night. But, Taryn, I'm just really, Angela to me is such the interesting piece here in all of this. Because to me, like, Rick wants to, we know what motivates him as a player. He wants to, he thrives in chaos.

[00:12:37] He wants to blow things up. That's what gets him really going. But Angela, to me, I just have so many questions of what's real? Like, what's, what's authentic? Like, does Angela, how much is Angela putting on the Angela character like she would in egg costume? In terms of this strategic maneuver or just in general in the house? I'm fascinated by everything she does.

[00:13:04] Where that, just the, the talking to herself. Even, like, when we watched her in the chair tonight. How much was, you know, is Angela knows she's on TV. Like, I would love to spend 24 hours with Angela not on TV and just watch how she operates. I, I would, I don't think she'd be that, that different. I mean, obviously, you know, there's a level of playing things up.

[00:13:33] But I don't think she's like a different person. I think that she's just more external than, than she normally would be in terms of like voicing her thoughts and the way that she's feeling. Yeah. And that means. She has an external monologue. Exactly. Because she's on TV. And that's part of what makes her good at being on TV.

[00:13:56] Is that she's able to externalize her internal feelings and thoughts and, and ideas in a way that's, that's pretty amusing. Um, and I think that she very much is there. Like, she's expressed this as well. Like, she's, you know, 53 years old.

[00:14:17] Um, and she's like, the fact that I've gotten a second opportunity at this, like, I, like, I'm just trying to enjoy this as much as possible. And like, just ride this experience out, uh, because I'm not going to get many more of them. Um, and so she's, she's just living it up as much as possible. And just like feeling as much as possible. I think. It's just been so fun to have her in this experience.

[00:14:42] And AJ, she has now aligned herself with two people who've won back to back HOHs. And we know that, uh, that Angela, I think had what, two HOHs in, uh, Big Brother 26. But she did not really ever taste this kind of power. And it is kind of delicious to watch her impulses of what she wants to do with it.

[00:15:09] Like, I think Angela is really coming in with a, like, chip on her shoulder. Because Angela, like, is truly a fan of this show. She loves this show. And I don't think she loves the, she came off last time. Like, when people were announcing that Angela was the returning player, there were so many people that were like, no, not Angela. Why are we bringing back Angela? Angela's, um, an annoying person. And I think Angela's like, no, I am, like, this fun person. And I can play this game. Like, I'm a super fan. I know what to do in this game.

[00:15:36] And I think, like, coming back this time, Angela, sure, Angela wants to win. But Angela just says, I'm going to play my heart out. I'm going to play it to the fullest, whether I'm in a good position or a bad position. And let me tell you something, Rob. Power is so tempting. Power is so corrupting. Angela takes that power. She says, I will abuse it. I do not care who's in the kitchen at 3.30 in the morning. You will see that I am in control of your games. I got your game in my hand, and I will throw it on the ground. Like, I love that from Angela. And like Taryn was saying, this is 100% authentic Angela. Like, that's what I love most about Angela.

[00:16:05] It's like, you don't have to question, like, is this a real Angela? Or is she hamming it up for the cameras? Angela's a ham in life. And like, we love that. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I think that the idea that Angela, and this is something that people talk about a lot, but the idea of like being performative for the cameras or that Angela is like performing for the cameras. Like, I think it comes from a place that misunderstands what it means to be on camera.

[00:16:33] Like, when I say that she's externalizing her internal thoughts and feelings, it's, that is not the natural way she would be acting. So in that sense, yes, she's performing for the cameras, but she's performing what she actually thinks and feels. And there's a difference between that and just completely, like, faking, you know, a personality or the way you think and act or feel. So, and so I think that's, that's the key difference here. Yeah, I see a lot of analysis on social media when she cries.

[00:17:02] Were there any tears? Was she, was this a real cry? Was, was this a fake cry for the camera? Well, you know, so it is, there's a lot of people expecting her to perform. Oh, she wasn't really crying when she found out. She wasn't really upset when she found out what Jason had done or anything like that. It's like, I think, I think that is real. I, you know, people may be coming at me, but I think that is real, whether you can analyze and see a tear there or not.

[00:17:32] Denk an den 31. Juli. Wieso? Last call für deine Steuer. Oh no, ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll. Bei Wieso Steuer, das ist wie SteuererklÀrung, nur ohne Stress. Ist das einfach? Klar, macht fast alles automatisch. Dauert das lange? Nâ, einfach per App. Na dann? Hol dir jetzt dein Geld zurück. Mit Wieso Steuer? Bis zum 31. Juli abgeben. Let's go back through the events of the episode.

[00:17:58] And I want to ask some questions about the HOH competition. We traveled back to June 30th, 1992. It was the achy, breaky summer. David, I want to know, did you do the, I'm trying to, the dance, the achy, breaky dance? I did not. I absolutely did not.

[00:18:24] I believe I was more inclined to have listened to Weird Al's version, achy, breaky song, which I believe goes, don't you play that song, that achy, breaky song. I just can't take it anymore. Okay.

[00:18:52] And we saw, much like in Survivor 50, we had to double up into pairs. It was good to not have a pair. Rick Devins got to skip ahead. But, Taron, I could have sworn that in the fallout of everything from Friday night, wasn't there something about Melody did something to Rick Devins? Yeah, this is by far the biggest omission of this episode. And it's a really key part of it.

[00:19:17] If you are not a follower of the feeds, there's a chance, if you're a keen-eyed observer, that you would be like, wait, why did Melody go up on the block? Was there just no reason? Was it just that Devins was like, oh, and Melody, right? There's actually a very specific reason. And it was a big part of the night in terms of Devins' motivation for why Melody went up on the block. Completely cut out of the episode.

[00:19:46] And it's that during this competition, they basically had this initial thing where they picked pairs. And then Devins was left out. And then it turned out you compete against your pair. Then Devins comes in and they pick pairs again. And so what happened was initially, Devins had paired up with Melody when they still thought that it was competing against your pair. But something kind of like got leaked, got misfired.

[00:20:14] It was like it didn't go right. It was exposed to them that, uh-oh, you're actually working with your partner, not against your partner. They reshot it. Uh, and we saw the reshot version where instead of being with Devins like she was before, this time around she cozied up to Drew. And in Devins' mind, that was like, oh, so when you thought we were competing against each other, you were happy to pair up with me. But when you know that we're competing with each other, you want to compete against me.

[00:20:43] That's kind of a shot fired across the bow there. Like, I feel like I'm putting down what you're picking up or picking up what you're putting down. Yeah, I knew that there was something and then I couldn't figure, based off of how the competition went in the episode, I could not figure out what on earth had happened. Yeah, and I guess like the thing here is that because it was seemingly like a production error that caused this thing to happen, they just left it out of the episode.

[00:21:11] But like, it's so important in terms of, like, they talked about it all night. They still keep talking about it. But it's a huge thing. And now it just doesn't exist in the text of the show. And that's kind of wild. Yeah. It's kind of wild. Yeah, I had wondered. Go ahead, David. I had wondered the same thing, why it wasn't there. I kept waiting for it. I'm like, where is it? They certainly could have shown it, but it being a reshoot definitely explains that. They don't want to expose that there even are reshoots, probably.

[00:21:41] Mm-hmm. Yeah. And it's wild that they even let them switch. Yeah. Yeah. I think that's like a bad move on Melody. Like, not just it just so happens that Rick happened to win HOH and he used this as an excuse to put up Melody. Kama, but you saw what Angela did. Angela was on Jason like glue. Like, Angela was like, if I'm going against Jason, then I could knock Jason out. But if I'm working with Jason, then I have a chance to move forward in the game and still beat Jason.

[00:22:09] Like, Melody's linking up, not linking up with Devin's, makes a pair of Devin and Haley, two people that Melody does not want to win HOH. And if what happened we saw play out today, where they were the pair that wins, now you got a 0% chance. Meanwhile, if you kept it separated, say you won't wait for Devin's, you got a 50% chance. Or if Drew was with Haley, you would have a 50% chance in your mind. We know where Drew really stands. In your mind, Drew has a 50% chance of winning this HOH. So, like, I think it's bad, like, consolidating your entire alliance or people you trust in, like, one group.

[00:22:38] Like, you should have it as spread out as you want. But, you know, it's the heat of the moment for life. A hundred percent. And not to mention the fact that, like, if she does move ahead with Devin's and it becomes the final two of her and Devin's, like, maybe she doesn't want Devin's to win. But at least then, if he does, it's the two of them having a chance to talk, to be like, hey, no matter which one of us wins, we're both good.

[00:23:00] Which is not foolproof, but it's a hell of a lot more of a something than abandoning the Devin's team and getting caught doing so. Yeah. All right. So, it comes down to then after Rick and Haley end up passing Angela and Jason, they're the final two. They're going to go head to head. Now, I thought that they worked us through where Rick says he's willing to let Haley have it.

[00:23:28] But I am surprised that there weren't more people asking a question of it. It seemed like almost like an obvious throw from Rick Devin's in that he ended up just going for one of the shortest. There were, like, four spaces that were in front of them. And he ended up going for, I think it was a 35 that was right in front of him. But there was a 42 that was also right in front of him. And I don't know, maybe it's because he wins HOH and nobody's asking these types of questions.

[00:23:59] But, Taren, isn't that weird to go for the one right in front but to not go for the highest one right in the front? I agree. Yeah. It is weird. Not too much because he was trying to get Haley to beat him with, like, a 50, which is what she had been getting. So, it didn't even matter necessarily which one of those two he would have gotten. And I also just felt like if you really cared about throwing, and maybe he didn't care that much, try to miss the thing. Go off the table.

[00:24:29] Right. I mean, don't go that far necessarily. But, like, go for one of the circles. Go for one of those higher circles. Yeah. But then intentionally go a little too far. And, oh, damn, I hit the five instead. And now you've basically guaranteed your loss and given Haley an easy shot. I mean, we don't think Haley would then out through it, do we? I do. I was going to say, I saw that on Blue Sky. Yeah.

[00:24:55] Like, the area where Haley threw her puck, hook, whatever it's called, I do not care, wherever she threw it, it was like both of the front two hats were lower than Rick Devin's number. And if she was trying to get higher than Rick Devin, she would have at least done it with more force or aimed it at a different area. So I'm not saying she threw it, but I'm saying. It was really bad.

[00:25:16] But, see, I think that the one where she was going, the first thing, like where Rick went, if she went, if she left it short, was higher than Rick Devin's. But she let it go too far. It was a mess. Looking at it, I would have thought she threw on purpose. In the diary room, she says she didn't. That doesn't necessarily mean that that's true. But nobody's really questioned any of it in the house. Yeah, she did say she wouldn't, she doesn't mind not getting the blood on her hands.

[00:25:46] And, again, I don't think that she threw it. But just in the way that this has all played out, I feel like this kind of has gone pretty well for the Red Corner this week where that Rick has really emerged as the figure. Where all the good work that the vets did in, and I don't want to pile on the vets too much here in week two.

[00:26:08] But all the great work that they did in week one to hide themselves, I feel like it's kind of being flipped around where I feel like Red Corner is able to now sort of hide behind the vets. To be fair, it shouldn't have worked out that way. Like if the vets were playing this a little smarter, it would be worse for Red Corner rather than better. Right. But, you know. I think they're having a good week. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.

[00:26:38] So we have our HOH. It's Rick Devins. He comes back into the house and we see how Rick starts things and ultimately where we go by the end of the night. He actually says at one point that he's going to like go to bed early. But really, we'll focus our attention on Rome and Rick Devins. And they had an interesting connection through week one. And Rome comes to Rick. He has a bunch of people he wants to protect.

[00:27:08] Ultimately, the key things that he says, hey, as long as it's not me and Lyric and Jason are the three, we can have a good understanding.

[00:27:48] Yeah. And has already gotten word from Devins that he's safe. But an indication that Lyric might be in trouble. The main thing here is like, hey, what can we do to keep Lyric off the block too, if possible? Like, I really do still want to work with you and like, let's let's work something out. It's not. Let me start. Like, we're not negotiating like salary.

[00:28:16] Like, let me start with my big number. It's going to be six people. Six people. And then name them all. Yeah. And then immediately cave and be like, all right, well, if I had to boil it down, the most I could afford to do here is two extra people. All right. Just maybe two extra people. And then name those people as well.

[00:28:40] Like, you've now exposed to Devins that there are six people ahead of him in line. Like, and then give him your pecking order of those six people. It's like, you almost have to take the shot at that point. You can't just sit on that kind of information. Yeah. It's like, well, yeah, I'm selling you this car. The lowest I can do is 20,000. And then the person shakes their head. Okay.

[00:29:09] The lowest I can do is 10,000. You know, it's like, well, I didn't even come back with another number. I was going to go to 18, but okay. If you're going to give me 10, I'll take 10. Yeah. Well, it would be one thing if he just said lyric. It would be like, okay, no one can blame Rome for saying just don't nominate me and my homegirl. Like, that's all I ask. Like, no one would be upset with that. Comma, but like naming your people and then showing that Jason's your number one ally, that's not someone you're making out with.

[00:29:38] It's like so bad. It is genuinely so bad. Like Rome is so unfortunate that like Angela is a player. And like, and also these are players. Like these are Rick Devins. Like you can't trust Rick Devins. Let me tell you something. Your number one ally has been tolling you for weeks at this point. You cannot trust this man. Do not trust anything that this man says to you. Do not fall in line with him. And yet Rome's like, listen, I'm the president, man. I can do this. Like, let me show you how it's done.

[00:30:08] You don't understand my relationship with Devins. I got this under control, Jason. Don't worry about him. You know, it's interesting about Rick Devins. When you say you can't trust Rick Devins. It's like Rick is such an interesting person because it's like if you are if you are one of his people, he's one of actually the most trustworthy people that has ever been on one of these shows. Like, like he will not lie to his people.

[00:30:33] But if you are not one of his people, like he will like relish lying to you and tricking you. Like, I think I think I think what's funny is that that was his reputation from Survivor. But I think Big Brother has already exposed that like that reputation for loyalty might have been a little situational. Like, you know, like not only did he turn around and stab Rome in the back here, but he's already kind of double dealing with his own allies a little bit in the Big Brother house.

[00:31:03] Like, you know, power corrupts and so does Big Brother, I think. Yeah. All right. So I think the big thing, the biggest thing with Rick, though, is I think Rick is at the end of the day here for a good time. Not expecting to be here for a long time. Like Rick, Rick actually listened to Saru and Rick does not want to be here all summer. Like, I believe full heartedly he does not want to. He just wants to have fun, get his check and go home. And he's going to have a good time while he's here. And if he happens to win, I think that is going to be happy about it. He's going to be like, yep, I played a good game. That's why I see. But if I go home, I happen to go home. I get to see my wife.

[00:31:33] I'm happy. Yeah. I don't know if it's as fine of a point on that. Like, I think he is not afraid to go home. I think that that's probably the best way to say it. Like, I don't think he's going to try to engineer his own exit as we get close to the jury. I think he wants to have as much fun as possible. And I think that he just is like, hey, I've got a great life. I've got a good thing going. If I go home, I go home. You know, he's playing very free.

[00:32:03] I agree. Yeah, and I wonder if that will change once if he makes it to jury. Like, okay, now you don't have the situation of, oh, well, if I blow things up and it comes back to bite me, I still don't get to see my family. So is that going to alter the way he plays at that point? And I'll say Rick Devins is like, I think the most interesting person I enjoy watching this season.

[00:32:32] Like watching the way he moves and the way like this should be like Rick's like death knell. Like the other side should be going to war with Rick and want his head on the stake. But Rick is like such a good social player. Like he has such good ties with other people. He's such a welcoming person. Like he's not getting as much blowback as you would think that someone who just pulled off the biggest move at the head of what's going to be the most dramatic nomination ceremony ever. And Rick, I genuinely don't think Rick needs to sweat next week, even if it's like someone on the other side wins.

[00:32:59] Like I think there's like Rick is positioned himself so well. That's why I'm so interested. Like he's like willing to play balls to the wall. But also there's a person that just I'm naturally good at this. I naturally can do this. People underestimate how valuable like relative transparency can be that like he's making this big move, but doing so in the most transparent way possible.

[00:33:24] And and and also to be fair, this is in part due to like Drew helping him out and sort of like diverting some attention away. But but because he's still able to just have conversations with people, there's nothing personal in anything he's doing. Yeah, it really opens the door for for the relationships to to like to be maintained in some kind of like the the lines of communication stay open.

[00:33:50] Yeah, Taron, he really brings like a real sportsmanship to everything that he does, where I don't think that he is going to get into any real like like shouting matches, name calling. That's just not going to be a part of what he does. Yeah, just like a real emotional maturity that I think comes from the compartmentalizing the game versus, you know, personal feelings.

[00:34:19] But in a good way, in a way that's not like like, oh, I'm cutthroat and ruthless and I don't care about how you feel about it in a way that's like I've separated game and I feel bad for you in this moment as well that you're feeling bad, but I'm still going to make the move that's right for me. Especially here in this house. I think that he really feels like, hey, I'm older than all these people. And I think he does really like the cast.

[00:34:44] And I think that he does not really want to like he wants to win. But he also, I think, feels bad at times that these people are much younger than him. Yeah, there's there's a clip and this is a live feed clip, but it doesn't give anything away where he has been talking to somebody and then they leave and he says, I'm their dad. I'm like their dad.

[00:35:12] I just came here to play a game and I'm like their dad. And he's America's dad. Yeah, he is. But yeah, Rick, you got to remember, you're not their dad. And I think usually he does, but sometimes that's maybe a little overwhelming, especially since he's missing his kids. And now he's got these people, some of them looking up to him in that way. And he has to it's got to be difficult for him.

[00:35:37] But yes, I do think that he's doing a good job of compartmentalizing and explaining that I'm not doing this because I don't like you. You know, even when we saw him sit down with Rome and say, yeah, things are not going to go the way that you thought. And Rome's like, should we be cutting off lines of communication? And Rick's like, yeah, I think we should. Yeah, it's it's a funny way out.

[00:36:04] Hey, we're going our separate ways, you know, usually in the Big Brother house that would come with a lot more yelling. Yeah, there is something else here, too, that was left out of the episode. Those just point out in chat that I that I did appreciate from Devin's is H.O.H., which is that he made it a point very early on. He did not want to nominate anybody that was nominated the week before, which is a huge departure from how H.O.H is generally work. And Big Brother, those are the easiest people to renominate because they have more people to be mad at. They've been on the block before.

[00:36:35] And I don't think it's like good strategy to not nominate them again. But I do appreciate that it brings something different and more interesting to the table for the show. And so I'm kind of sad the episode didn't bring it up as part of like, oh, look at him as a good, fun H.O.H. He doesn't renominate people. Taryn, do you think that that was actually something that he felt strongly about or do you think it was just, you know, D's nominations ended up being like her rubric was I was picking from the three groups.

[00:37:04] It ended up being kind of more random people than necessarily her targets. And that it just worked out this way that the people he wanted to target just didn't happen to be any of those nominees. Yeah, he talked to D about this. He would have been willing to break that pledge if necessary, but he wanted to hold to it if he could. So it did seem to come from a genuine place of just not wanting to renown them because it's it's been a topic of conversation.

[00:37:33] Again, a lot of these players came in with some baseline level of knowledge of like how things generally play out. And so a lot of people were talking about how, yeah, I go up on the block once you get renommed a lot. And so I think he actively wanted to go against that curve. And but again, though, like if he needed to, he would have he would have broken that pledge. And I will say real quick, I think that's been my least favorite part of Rick Devins, a choice thus far. And not because because let me tell you something as I love it. Stop putting nominating the same people over and over week after week.

[00:38:02] I hate that. I genuinely hate that. But for Rick's game, I don't see him doing enough with Taylor, with Yash, with Mallory to make them feel good that he is not nominated them to make them feel more included. Like he's like sparing them. And like next week, if they win, they're going to think like, so what? Like they might give them a pass, but like he has not put in the work with those three in particular to be sparing them and just let them do what they want. Like Rick should have been more on top of them.

[00:38:27] All three of them have talked about potentially nominating Rick or going after his allies in subsequent weeks. And it's largely because, yeah, despite doing a massive solid for them, hasn't been enough follow up. He's tried with Yash a bit. He's had some conversations with Mallory and Taylor, but he just doesn't have any actual relationship with them. So it's like he's not actually getting anything out of this. I want to go back to that conversation with Rick and Angela.

[00:38:57] And Rick was thinking about a more measured approach to his HOH first. And then Angela brings him into I like how Rick described it as the inside the bunker inside of the HOH bathroom. And she got him and she said, hey, Rome needs to go. We're all doomed. And it like there was like a switch that went off. He's like, oh, you know what? I want the smoke. I'm ready to go to war. He's like he's like, I remember.

[00:39:27] He's like, oh, yeah, I'm Rick Devins. And he wanted to he wanted to do it. He thrives in chaos. And he says, now I want a war. And he has a he's a reputation to live up to. And if you if you position him to have to be the buzzkill. I don't think he's ever giving in there. If you if you frame it to him like, oh, dude, you're you're killing our vibe. I think he's going to be like, all right, let's do it.

[00:39:55] OK, because I do think that like Devins cares a lot about the the reputation he's built, the image that he has from going on Survivor. He's a fun, loving, positive guy who's there for chaos and to just like, you know, joy. Good TV. Yes. Joy. Exactly. Exactly. And so if Angela comes up and she's like, I don't know, I think it's scary, but it would be really exciting. This is big brother. He's going to be hard for him to turn that down.

[00:40:25] You saw quick it flip that switch. Yeah. And I like to pick back off of what Taryn just said. I think I don't like Rick is the person who started the war for Rick's personal game. But I think Rick is the first person to start this war because it's just a game. It's just fun. He's just like here to have a good time. Like this is nothing personal. Like this is a buff war. Sorry, Rome. You're just too big of a threat. Sorry, S, Y, and Z. Meanwhile, if someone like Haley won it, it would have got a lot more personal. And not because Haley's like this person that's like, oh, making personal jabs at S, Y, and Z.

[00:40:54] It's just the way that people feel about Haley makes it a lot more personal. The way if Angela won it, it would have been a lot more personal. Rick Devens is a guy like, yeah, I'm coming at you, but like you're still an amazing person. I still, let's keep this a fun summer. Let's keep this a healthy environment. Meanwhile, other people in this house, I feel like we wouldn't have got that, which is why I'm appreciative of Rick being the person to do it.

[00:41:40] Yeah. Which, or the nomination ceremony. But, you know, we're talking about personal versus game. That is very personal. And I think would have been a very good reason to nominate somebody. And yet it doesn't seem to have. Now, part of the reason, of course, it was left out of the edit was the original situation was left out of the edit. So that may be why. But I don't remember, and Taryn helped me out here.

[00:42:10] I don't remember him really discussing that a lot, even on the live feeds, when he was thinking about it. Hasn't really been a topic. For those that don't follow the feeds, another thing that Drew ratted out to Angela and Devin's when he talked about how Jason made the face to the cameras when he was talking to Angela,

[00:42:31] was that Jason had also planned this whole thing where he was going to make these Rice Krispie slop treats for Devin's daughter's birthday as a way to get in with him and emotionally manipulate him. And so Drew let Devin's know I had a time and Devin's had been really touched by it when he heard about the idea. And then I was like, oh, wow, it worked on me. That was really like weird and personal. But yeah, never really seemed to confront Jason about it in any significant way.

[00:42:59] Happy to let Angela do the confronting and all that stuff. It's kind of a weird thing to get mad about after the fact. Like if somebody wanted to do like nice things for me, but they had like negative intentions, but they still made me lunch and it wasn't poisoned or anything. And I found out like, oh, no, they just did that for you because they wanted to get on your good side. Like, okay, whatever. I mean, it's not the getting on the good side. It's the backstabbing plan afterwards. But he never did the backstab.

[00:43:30] He didn't have an opportunity to because he got ratted out beforehand. I think Rob's right. I think you I think is smart play because I think you do come off petty, even if you're in the right here to be like, because even Angela, who I think has a great case, it's like you made a you made a face at the cameras. And it's like when you when she says that, it doesn't sound as bad as it did when you watched it. It's like it's harder to convey when you're trying to call someone out like that. Yeah. All right.

[00:43:58] So, Taryn, they had to yada yada a lot of this with getting everybody up into the HOH room and then going to go wake up Barrett and then ultimately Rome coming in. So what do you feel like that they missed including in this sequence of meeting up in the HOH room? Not that much, to be honest. They did. I think they did this justice for the most part.

[00:44:25] They caught the Rome suspicion, the doorbell ringing, the excitement up there, the creation of the tool shed alliance, which there is a little bit more behind. I talked about that this morning. I was hoping we would maybe get something there, but obviously they didn't have much time.

[00:44:42] It's it's still kind of currently unclear to me if this is a real alliance that Drew came up with as a kid or if or if this was like preplanned between him and Kamu or if it's a lie to Kamu. But that's not really the point. What I'm saying is not much. We kind of caught the bulk of it. How about this? OK, I think that they took some artistic license. I think that they did Rome dirty. I don't think Rome rang the doorbell 27 times.

[00:45:12] No. Yeah. He rang it like twice, but he did stand outside. Yeah. I think it's it's all sort of within the realm of the vibe, though. You know, it's it's not like when they edit conversations to be way more awkward than they are. It was very awkward, this whole situation. So I think it it felt spiritually correct. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:45:35] Even if they went a little overboard with the sound effects there and then ultimately they come downstairs and they are just walk past from Jason and lyric. And that was that was so awkward. It's going to be a big day. And why was D like, hey, your eyes are really red? It's really red right now.

[00:46:04] Probably because it was 430 or five in the morning. And at that point, you just say whatever comes to mind. I think it's I think you just kind of it's like a stalling time. Like you've got like, OK, I've got about 10 seconds where I'm walking in front of Rome that he could be talking to me. If I start talking to him, hey, Rome, your eyes are really red. What's up with that? Is your eye? Do you have you noticed that your eyes are? Oh, anyway, see ya.

[00:46:29] I'm just saying like the gumption these bums had of ignoring this man and then all deciding to come down at that same day. Bro, piss me off. She would have sent me to the moon. That's that's me when Chappelle text me. What? Chappelle, you going to take that? I didn't notice. All right.

[00:46:57] Well, let's talk about the BB time capsule. We got to see how this played out on the episode. And Angela finds out that she is the first winner of the BB time capsule. AJ, any surprise that it was Angela who wins week one? Not really too much surprise for me personally, because I adore Angela now.

[00:47:20] Now, and I also think because of the host Jason situation, like she has a lot of like people that are supporting her were on her side because of this. She's also a returning person. So she has more cachet than I think a lot of people. So I'm not surprised that Angela in particular was the person that won it. I am so happy that she won it. I am so happy what the competition actually is. I was terrified what it was going to be. And it was going to take up a lot of time. And so when it didn't, I was like, thank goodness. And listen, I am so happy with the outcome that occurred. Could not happen to a nicer person. Yeah. Tara, I was surprised.

[00:47:49] I thought Rick was going to be the winner of the first recipient of this. And I think that it speaks to maybe the phenomenon that Jason was upset about where Jason, who has, you know, a big Instagram following, thought that maybe his fans were portable. But I think that there's a real home field advantage to the people who are fans of Angela. Every person who's a fan of Angela is watching Big Brother.

[00:48:18] You cannot say the same for the people that are from Survivor or from Drag Race. Right. Yes. I think that's a huge part of it. I think you also cannot underestimate the power of the edited episode. And the biggest, most emotionally pulling thing of the season so far that took place just a couple of episodes ago was the Angela Jason stuff where she was devastated by what Jason did to her. And that's a huge sympathy edit.

[00:48:46] Like that's, she was bound to get that, not to mention just being very present in the edit, getting a very positive edit in the first place. She was edited to, remember we talked about like Rome summoning people to the gym. She had this paranoia that there was this larger meeting that took place. But in the episode, they edited it to be her accurately clocking the three of them in the gym. They're, they're really, you know, they're giving her a good edit and they're, she's very present. She has that moment on top of all of that.

[00:49:14] She's a big brother player that people know. Even if she's, as Julie would say, controversial with the fan base, it doesn't really matter. You're not voting against people. You're voting for people. And so she's bound to get the most amount of individual votes for her here. And so she goes into this BB time capsule and we see this mechanism. Now, this was similar to a comp that they ran in BB 26.

[00:49:42] Terry, what's the backstory on, on this comp that we have, the gif of Angela? Yeah. So in, in the start of season 26, uh, they had this competition where they were spinning them around and they had to like keep track of colors or something. Uh, and then like hit the right buzzer to, you know, which I don't remember exactly the details, but the point was you're trying to like remember something that was being flashed in front of you.

[00:50:07] Um, whereas this is not really a competition at all, unless you're that guy that, that, you know, was able to game the system. Um, but like, quite frankly, I don't even think that this is, I don't think this is anything. I think this is, uh, I think Angela has a little brother controller in front of her and production has a button that says we want Angela in an egg costume.

[00:50:39] Yeah. Cause I did not get the sense that the BB time capsule was going to be the same thing every single week. I thought you were going to be doing like a comp, but AJ, I I'm getting the feeling that it's going to be go, go sit in the spinny chair every week. Um, which like, listen, I love it, baby. Like give me two minutes on my TV show. I'm fine with that. Take as little time as you want. Like Jesus H yes, please.

[00:51:03] Now with that being said, I do not like the amount of control production could have possibly over the outcomes. However, however, however, if it's similar to today, do I have faith in them? Low key. Maybe they didn't earn it, but they have it. I mean, even if it is truly random, it's interesting because I think viewers now have to take that into consideration when you're voting. It's not okay.

[00:51:32] If I vote for Devin's next week, he'll have to put together a four piece puzzle. I know he can do that or he'll, he'll be okay. It's, we don't know what will happen. So we want to sit in the spinny chair. Let's go. Now, if you're a big fan of Devin's and he's probably next up on the popularity list, I would say if you're a big fan and he's coming off of HOH, so he could be in danger.

[00:51:59] You have to decide, okay, am I potentially putting him in more danger or could I give him a power? I think when you're coming off of HOH and you've done what he has done so far, then yeah, you, if you're a fan of his, you do want to vote for him. But other people have to make those decisions and balance. Okay. It is truly a coin flip. Well, what I think is interesting to me, there was an implied sense of, uh, of scarcity with the options.

[00:52:28] They were numbered one through six, like each, each number is attached to a specific thing, uh, which implies to me that Angela has now received one of the three punishments. And that there are now only five options left, three powers and two punishments. Uh, if that were the case and you take it at face value, that it's random, the next person to receive a power is going to have better odds of getting that power than Angela did.

[00:52:54] Uh, and so it's theoretically more, uh, advantageous to get the next one. Um, because the next one is again, the odds are more likely in there. If they get a power, then the next person will have 50, 50 odds again. Um, and so, you know, you could try to game it out that way, but that is kind of resting on a few different assumptions. Yes. Yeah. I guess, uh, we should be on the edit watch for this week.

[00:53:19] Uh, I don't think that there was anybody that really rose to prominence that could be a sneaky BB time capsule person, right? We'll see you on Wednesday. I, I will tell you that the, in the house, Devin's is very concerned that Rome will, will receive a power, uh, for being on the other end of a call out. Nah, he's fine. He's fine. I'll be a butt 50 with you.

[00:53:46] Like every second I spent on that man's face, I'm like, why are we continuing to zoom in? I'm uncomfy now. Like, I'd like, I'm not sure they want that person to get the power. Like, right, David? Yeah. I thought the zoom in was the best part of the episode. Yeah. All right. Um, so, all right. We come back with Angela in the egg costume.

[00:54:11] I'm sure we'll spend more time on Angela's egg costume of a whole segment on Wednesday night about Angela in the egg costume. But, uh, Tarrant, do you suspect, do you think that Vince is happy that they brought the egg costume back or do you think that he wanted to be the only egg? Like, if I were Vince, I would be, I would be disappointed. I would be, I wouldn't be like super disappointed because it's like, oh, it's cool. Like Angela's in my costume. Now my costume's iconic. That's very fun.

[00:54:39] But there would definitely be a part of me that was like, couldn't even give me one season of letting this be mine. You know, like, uh, like, you know, that's, I didn't win the game. Like, uh, that's, that's one of my fun legacies. Like, uh, a lot of people get to own their costume, their punishment costume for at least a while. Right. Uh, so kind of, I, I do think, I do think Vince the egg is better than Angela the egg. Wow. But not by that much. I do think Angela the egg's great. Yeah. Okay.

[00:55:09] Like, I, I, I, I low-key agree with Tarrant because I remember that scene of the people just whispering into it on one side of the egg and then the other person whispering on the other side of the egg. And his personality contrasts with it in such an interesting and funny way. Like, Angela fits the egg too well. Uh, Vince, you know, Vince was contained by that egg in such a, such a funny way. With that being said, I can't wait to see an egg pop off on Wednesday. Like, that's gonna be so much fun. Yeah. Yeah. And the hat go flying.

[00:55:39] Yeah. Okay. So one of the funnier things that we got in the episode was Jason's reaction to finding out that America isn't rooting for him. He thought he was going to win the power. David, he feels like the robbed icon. Yeah. He's sitting there saying, America's not rooting for me. They don't like me. And I'm sitting here going, well, you, you wanted TV time. Yeah.

[00:56:07] You do everything for TV time. You got your TV time of you pulling a fast one by emotionally manipulating. I mean, we saw one person we talked about. It was two people. And you think that the audience is going to say, yay. Great. Emotionally manipulating the person that America voted as their favorite house guest. Right. Right. Now, maybe it helped her. Yeah.

[00:56:33] And well, this is the thing about Jason and what we saw on the on the show is that, like, for as much as I am very much so, like, I don't love the jumping on. Is there a tear? Are they are they faking it? Whatever. Whatever. But knowing what Jason likes to do, I can't help but like feel that when he's in that diary, I'm like, I really thought it would be me. That, like, when the camera is cut, he goes. Yeah, you good. Yeah. You got him. Yeah. I mean, like, I like, I don't know, Jason. I don't know.

[00:57:03] Like, like Jason's like playing the villain. And like, he's like low key, like embracing it, like in like a Frankie Grande-esque way. But that's his buddy. Yeah. You know what? Who would have thought? But with that said, I think if your name's not Keanu, I've never heard in a Big Brother history where someone go against the returning players and the audience is like, yay, I like this person. I'm OK with this. Like, in our history, we usually root.

[00:57:29] Even if they're in power and running stuff, we're usually like, at least at the start, he's like, yay, we love this. Paul, we love it. Sari, we love it. Like, Nicole, Davon, James, all of them. We love y'all. Like, we don't usually root for the people we don't know. Like, listen, I get it. You're on RuPaul's Drag Race. I'm pretty sure you're great on there. With that being said, I've never seen you. And so did a lot of Big Brother audience. So we don't have time to connect with you, my guy. Right.

[00:57:55] I do also wonder, since you mentioned the tears and the cutaway, is this a ploy for him to, like, be, you know, oh, they don't like me. They don't like me. OK, maybe now they'll vote for me if they think. Yeah, I think that's what Taryn is saying, right? Yeah. Oh, no. Pity don't work on me. Oh, I mean, he's working the rifts. I think that he believes it might work.

[00:58:24] And, AJ, I did not see him on Drag Race either, but I have heard, because I very foolishly made Jason my pregame winner pick, that I have heard from a lot of people saying, did you not see him on All Stars? And I said, well, no, I didn't. I heard about it. And I thought he would learn from it.

[00:58:47] But instead, he appears to be reenacting some of the problems that he had with alliances on All Stars. All right. Let's talk about Rick has a conversation with Rome. And Rome is willing to give Rick Devins a second chance. He's like, you know, I didn't really like what I saw. But, you know, I don't want to judge what you're doing.

[00:59:13] But, you know, it could get kind of dicey if, I guess, if you go back on your deal. He's like in the middle of getting beat up by the mob. And he's like, you know what, guys? I forgive you. We're good. You know, like I've been thinking about it. I actually think, you know, we stop here. Actually, I'm totally chill with you guys actually now moving forward. And they're like, now we still got a problem, unfortunately. Yeah.

[00:59:45] I think there was some element of a threat there, too. If you say things are going to get dicey. You know, you're being beat up by the mob to piggyback off of that. And you're saying, okay, if you guys don't stop now, I'm really going to do something to you. You better watch out. I'm willing to forgive you at this point, but I can't promise anything if this continues. Yeah. Your last warning. All right. So then we go to the nomination ceremony.

[01:00:14] I'm like, what? It's like 857. What are we doing? How are we going to make this work? And we get Rick and he's turning the keys. We see Melody. We see Lyric. We see Jason. And Jason gives us a very silent gasp. Love a gasp in the Big Brother house. I'm just going to quickly say it.

[01:00:41] It's ridiculous to me that those are the only words spoken in those like two minutes of television. Other than my first nominee is my second nominee is. I still hate this as a format. Just let the man speak as he names his nominees. Please. Yeah. What is it? They don't let them say the name. They don't. It's my first nominee is. But it's early in the season and we don't necessarily. It's right.

[01:01:10] Even if they just one small change. Say the name. It's better television. But they can't even do that. Yeah. I was happy that they. One of the things they cut was the whole. I am the H.O.H. And as the H.O.H. One of my duties is to. And it's like, wow. Yeah. We don't have time for that. Well, I know. But normally they drag that through the whole season. And they cut it for the second nomination. That you knew they had stuff to jam in.

[01:01:40] Jam packed episode. They got rid of that. Yeah. All right. Well, after Jason goes up on the block, he says, good job, Angela. Which really sets off this fracas, which breaks out at this nomination ceremony. And then the episode goes in slow motion. We just see Angela.

[01:02:10] We see Jason. Yeah. No, I really did love it this episode. When we were doing our normal stuff. Like your normal end of the nominations episode. Where they start talking about it. And they just cut it in the middle of it. And like Jason stands up. And Angela going out. I was like, I love that so much. Honestly, that deserved a round of applause from me. I don't give them many. I'll give them one for that. Like that was fun. I like that. I think. Yeah. I was expecting the record scratch. But I was. They love a record scratch. You know.

[01:02:39] I looked at the clock too. I'm like, there's no way they're going to go into the fight. They always. Or almost always cut it off at that point. And. But then. When Devin's actually said. You know. Said the words to conclude. The nomination ceremony. I was like, wait a minute. We got live feeds. Before. He actually said those words. So what. What. Are they editing it? And then they go to. The diary. Diary room segment. And. And so I'm like. So they did definitely.

[01:03:09] Get me for those. Those few seconds. Before they came back with the record scratch. Yeah. Uh. So much fun. Uh. I pulled a little clip from the fight. No way. Because it's your H-O-H. My H-O-H. Good job. Bitch. Please. Oh wow. Now I'm a bitch. You messy boy. No. I thought I was a messy bitch. Excellent. House meeting. Sorry. This is not over. House meeting. This is not over. Yeah. Tara.

[01:03:37] So I guess we got the origin story for the messy. Messy. Messy B word. Started with Angela calling Jason a messy boy. You messy boy. Jason got the three Angela claps. Take me away. You got me. I'm a messy boy. All right. Well. We can. Hit the spoilers.

[01:04:06] So I'm going to talk about where this is going to go. Is there anything else from this episode that we want to touch on? I'm good. Yeah. All right. So let me do this. Let's let's hit the spoiler song and we'll talk about where we go from here. And, you know, lots of intrigue to follow here as we continue talking about Rick Devin's nominations on the other side of the spoilers.

[01:04:35] The Office of Civil Defense has issued the following message. This is a spoiler warning. A spoiler warning means that an actual spoiler against this country has been. This is a Rick Devin's from the edge of extinction. Different look. Yeah. Updated Rick Devin's puppet. All right. All right. Yeah, we go from here. And then we had the feats come up in all this. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:05:06] It's basically everything that you would expect. Angela's calling out Jason for making the face to the camera. Jason is admitting to it. I did a full reenactment on the live feed update. If you want that. I was I was just doing Melody's dance to the cameras as she hyped herself up for the veto ceremony for the veto competition. I should say there was Lala was very upset.

[01:05:35] Rome explained how he had to boil down the list. Uh, and, uh, it was just, it was a big mess. Yeah. But like, even, even as he explained it, Rome explained it, he gave Devin's credit. He's like, yeah, yeah, exactly. You know, he, he took what I gave him and, and he's using it and absolute everything he said was true. And, you know, he, he used it against me, which is interesting because like fast forward

[01:06:05] to, I don't know, was it today or something? He, he said on live feed, something like, I'm going to point out all of Devin's lies. I'm like, but you, you've already admitted they were true. How can you come back now? I mean, not that, you know, consistency is necessarily inherent in the big brother house, but I will say it is moments like these that you can justify being a big brother super fan, like literally in the middle of my day, not a care in the world.

[01:06:32] And you get the messages of, yo, it's popping. And you turn on the feeds and you see on Angela going after Jason, Jason piping back at Angela. And then you, and then you think it's calming down. And then Rome says, nah, we ain't done yet. And then Roman Haley and Chuck and Kamu doing their thing. It's like, whoa, broski. And Rick Devin's just standing there like, yo, yo. Like, I did not know that this is what I signed up for. What do you mean these people yell like this?

[01:07:02] Like it was, you were either like part of the drama or D and Devin's and Drew was your avatar being like, oh, this is fun. Oh, I love this energy. You are unbearable, Haley. You are unbearable as a human being. Yeah. Yeah. Why was she catching so many strays? She said he had small balls. That's true. I forgot about that. I thought he, I thought she said that afterwards. I can't remember the exact order. I just thought that was a funnier thing to say. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:07:32] It was a funny response. Yeah. And Rick Devin's is very so tickled about this whole, this whole thing. You know, in some ways I do feel like that Rick Devin's is really cut out for this also. Yeah. I mean, basically what Devin said ahead of time was I'll, I'm going to drop this bomb and I'm not going to go and hide in the HOH room. I'll stand there and sit in it.

[01:07:57] But, uh, and he did, um, until he did go to the HOH one night afterward, but, but he did stand there and sit in it for a while. Yeah. But it's wild because none of the bulls were coming for him. Like at worst case scenario, it was like, no, Devin, can you clarify what Angela just said real quick? Like, like we just need some revisionist history, like clean up the little messy stuff. Like he's like, yeah, sure. I can do that. Like it's beautiful. It was a symphony. Yeah. And then as it spilled out into the kitchen and everything, D is just walking around, you know, like,

[01:08:27] covering her face. I think because she was probably laughing. She just could not contain it. And then she finally takes her hand off and she just mouths. Wow. And then later, uh, up, upstairs in the HOH room, uh, she said something to the effect of this was the greatest day of my life. Better than the day I won survivor. Yeah. And also there was a side part of Lala just uncontrollable. Yeah. Oh yeah.

[01:08:54] Like, like, like, like honestly, I did not know what happened to Lala for a good minute. And it's like, oh, nothing happened to Lala. She's just crying. Yeah. When I first turned it on, I was like, wait, was she nominated? Did I, what's happening here? No, it wasn't that she was nominated. It was that Rome said she could be nominated and that got exposed. You know, Taryn, this first week that we had in the Big Brother house, and I'm not sure what day the eviction was, day 10, day 11.

[01:09:23] It was pretty kumbaya for all this time. And leading up to a vote, which was a unanimous, like unemotional 14-0 vote. It seemed like that there was maybe a lot of tension building in this house. And this was like the tension release moment. Yeah. I mean, they wanted to flip the vote.

[01:09:46] They wanted to flip the vote in a spot where it would have been 7-7 and just backed down because they didn't want to expose themselves like that. So they very much were, like, ready to draw these lines, but just, like, backed off at the last second. Like, you know, cooled the pot down for a second. But then when Devins wins, they have power again. And Angela's heating everything up. It's like, all right, I guess we're ready to go then. Let's just do it. Mm-hmm. All right.

[01:10:16] So that was the nominations, which ultimately leads us into the veto over the weekend. And so, Taren, you want to give us the veto results? Yes. Yes.

[01:10:32] This is where things get a little more dicey because Devins won the power of veto just barely ahead of Jason, who apparently was seconds away from hitting the buzzer, had actually completed his puzzle in the veto first, but stopped and paused before hitting that buzzer, allowing Devins to get in ahead of him. Oof. Yes. Yeah. Oof, indeed. I'm sorry, broski. Yeah. So, yeah, I can't wait to see how that plays out.

[01:11:01] Yes, that's the story that was told. I hope it was as dramatic as that. So Devins with the veto. Actually, any alumni, any mention of a, are they doing that every week for the veto? It's a good point. Not to my memory was anybody named, but that could mostly be because I don't generally care. Yeah. I don't remember seeing anybody either. I didn't see anything. Yeah.

[01:11:29] So with Devins having the veto, Rome and Lyric kind of saw the writing on the wall and did the thing that you should, of course, try to do, which is they were like, okay, let's orchestrate a fake breakup. Yep. Let's pretend like we're breaking up and try to convince Devins to use the veto on you

[01:11:53] to win favor with me and, you know, act like we'll be really grateful if he does it and all of this stuff. Like, you know, just doing everything that they can, of course. Not that anybody who has ever played any amount of social strategy game should ever believe that a showman would actually go against each other. But yeah. Yeah. Taryn, to push back on the fake breakup, I feel like that, did they miss the part where they actually like broke up and had a fight?

[01:12:22] Like, it's just like, it's just like, oh yeah, no, we're not, we're not dating anymore. It's like, well, what happened? Well, that's the thing, Rob. They literally, Lyric's literally just like, yeah, you know, I don't want to let him drag me down. And, you know, I think he should go up on the block because he's already going up. So of course she can say that freely. Uh, there hasn't been much in the way of like actual convincing and yet it landed pretty

[01:12:47] hard with Evans who was convinced that Lyric is willing to drop Rome at least until he was finally informed otherwise. Um, and, uh, and also believes that both Lyric and Rome will keep him safe if he uses the veto on Lyric. Uh, despite again, them kind of saying otherwise in private. Um, and so Devins is kind of in this, in favor of kind of using the veto on Lyric at this point.

[01:13:15] Lyric also managed to flip D with similar stories and promises. Uh, and so D is also pushing it. Angela initially pushed back at this idea, but when they mentioned that Drew is really close to melody and so keeping Drew in check would be fun. She went, Ooh, I agree. Um, and so that was the plan until Kamu kind of talked some sense into Devins. Drew did today pitch for Devins.

[01:13:42] Like, I mean, it would be great to not evict melody. Um, and Devins was maybe coming around reluctantly until he talked to Rome again, where Rome said, yeah, that was a fake breakup. But if you use the veto on Lyric, I won't go after you. And Devins was like, all right. Uh, went, uh, during the episode, went back to Drew and Haley and sort of pitched it again, drew back down.

[01:14:11] And now it seems like the veto might actually be used on Lyric instead of melody in order to backdoor Rome with the intention of taking Rome out. But if Rome wins the blockbuster, theoretically, they're going to take out Jason, not melody, the person they're leaving on the block, except that might change eventually because that's just how the house tends to work.

[01:14:36] So it's for many reasons, I think a massive error, both in judgment in terms of believing the two of them in the first place and strategically, because it doesn't make a lot of sense. We went into a lot of detail this morning about it. Um, and, and what it's left them with is quite a big mess. Uh, I think when there really didn't need to be one. Yeah. I think that week one, the way that things changed and we've seen that this alliance that's in power is likes to keep their options open.

[01:15:06] And I think that they like having multiple options to be able to choose from where like, if they have another situation where it's like, Oh wait, you know what? Actually we do want to vote out Ashley. Now let's, let's flip it around. I think that they're just afraid. They don't want to lock in on anything. Well, I think, I think everyone's approaching it from a different place. I think D is approaching it from the place of I'll win points with Lyric because I have a good relationship with her. Um, and I don't like melody all that much.

[01:15:36] And so I'm happy to leave her on the block and I don't really trust Drew. Uh, Angela's coming at it, I think almost entirely from yeah, stick it to Drew. Uh, and Devin's, I think is coming from a place of fear. I think he's like, he's like very worried that, that Rome is going to stay. Um, and despite having made the bold move, he's now having to face the possible repercussions and he's trying to back out of it. He's trying to be like, well, wait a minute, hold on.

[01:16:01] I'm still trying to evict you, but if I save your girlfriend, will you not punish me if it doesn't work? Um, and you know, he's really incentivized by that and he's being advised by two of his closest allies to go along with it as well. Uh, Devin's also seems to be worried about melody's connection to Drew. Um, but that does seem to be a slightly lesser, uh, worry from them, especially because it's still not even the plan to evict melody.

[01:16:29] And this is why I mentioned this morning, it's really reeking of like Jared being like, I'm going to nominate America to, to, to, to like serve as a lesson, uh, to Corey in America. They just have to sit through it. Like, I'm not going to evict her. They just need to know that I've got my eye on it. It's like, what are we doing? Like, I feel like it's, it's not great game. It's not great gameplay.

[01:16:58] And I think part of it is like the difference between survivor and big brother, where it's like in big brother, you, you have time to sit, you have time to sit. You have to think about it. Meanwhile, in survivor, it's the day of, and you're doing a lot of strategizing. And by the end of the night, you've made your decision. You lost it in. And meanwhile, here it's like, like there's still room to change, especially with someone like Rick Devin, who has all the power as both HOH and, um, the power of veto. With that being said, there is no reason you should be like even tempting the idea that,

[01:17:27] um, melody goes this week. Like your final three norms, you have the power should be lyric Jason and Rome. And because any of them going, you're in a better position with them out of them. Even if you like mess up and ask, gently take a shot at lyric, well, now you have someone like, who's definitely not going to leave Rome side out of this game. And like, I also find this lyric frustrating because I hated what we saw over the past like

[01:17:53] 48 hours, because it shows that when she's not by Rome side, there's a capable player there. There's a strong, capable game player there that can like actually do some damage and make some moves if she wanted to. And yet she just decided to get too comfortable on her side. So it's like, I'm not saying she should be punished, but I'm saying like, there is no reason one of those three should be going and you should not be like low key, low key tempting drew to like potentially flirt with another side because he already came up to someone

[01:18:21] and said like, Oh, it sometimes feels like y'all are, I forgot what the statement was, but basically like y'all don't trust me a hundred percent sometimes. And like, you cannot have someone as valuable as drew having doubts as with you. They're creating such a self-fulfilling prophecy. They're trading in many ways, the promise, the false promise of Rome and lyric at the expense of drew who is so much more valuable to them, who should be very concerned about what they're doing here.

[01:18:47] Uh, not to mention, not to mention the fact that like taking melody out here is such a wild move considering they drew lines unnecessarily. They could have taken melody out without doing any of that. They could have made lukewarm nominations. Uh, they would have pissed nobody off. Everybody would have been okay. Sacrificing melody. They could have had way better spots in the house and relationships in the game. If that's, if this was their goal all along and, uh, it wouldn't have been as annoying to drew if they did it that way as well.

[01:19:17] And on top of all of that, in my eyes, this idea that like taking lyric off is going to win you more favor is kind of wild because with lyric off the block and melody potentially still on the block, it actually gives both lyric and Rome some leeway to campaign against melody in the vote. Uh, meaning they actually have a good chunk of votes, meaning you need to keep all of your soldiers in line to make sure melody doesn't get voted out.

[01:19:45] If that's not the plan, which means you're going to be spending Monday to Thursday on opposite sides of this campaign with, with lyric and Rome who are going to be upset that like, they're trying to get these votes for Rome to stay. And you're making sure those votes aren't there. They're going to be re pissed off at you all week long. It's just such a, like, like genuinely, you know what would have been fine? Leave lyric up there and be like, lyric, I don't want you to go. I'm a fight so hard to keep you in the game for so long.

[01:20:13] Like, if she's going to be grateful for that, not like, Oh yeah, I'm taking off the block. I'm also taking out your boo thing. Like, I'm not going to like, you're not going to take out my boo things. Get out of here. Yeah. You got it. You got to keep both sides of the showmance up there. I mean, then they can't campaign against each other or I guess lyric probably would have campaigned against Rome, I think, but you know, he can't campaign, uh, for himself against her. And it's, you know, you've got the whole blockbuster situation of him competing against

[01:20:43] her. You've got to keep them both there. And then AJ, you said something like, you don't want to see them punished. And I do want to see lyric punished a little bit because she keeps saying, I'm only here because of Rome. No, your name was one of the first that came out of Rick Devin's mouth. When he said to Rome, you are safe, but your girlfriend, maybe not so much because of the

[01:21:10] way she has been acting in the way I have tried to talk to her and she has just shut me down. So no, you were never, you were not just there because of Rome. You were there because of you. Sneak preview for why lyric lost. Yes. Yeah. Are these, uh, is this plan locked yet? Or do you think there's still a room for this to change going into Monday? There's theoretically room for it to change.

[01:21:36] Um, but what I will say is like, even when it flipped back to melody, seemingly temporarily, it always felt like Devin's was very reluctant to, uh, to even admit that it was good logic to flip back to melody being taken off the block. Um, and when he, when it did really seem to flip that way, because Kamu had Haley and Chuck campaigning for it, Drew actually was pushing for it.

[01:22:03] Uh, and D and Angela temporarily backed down. D and Angela were not happy about having to back down. They were going to make another push before Devin's even came back to them with after the Rome conversation. So, um, and given the fact that drew then again, did give in Haley and Chuck, I don't think care enough to push unless comma really lights that fire. I think basically Kamu and drew, if they care enough, might get together and make another push.

[01:22:32] Um, but, uh, you know, will it actually work? I, I don't, I, I feel like it's not going to, I think that at the end of the day, D and Angela will get what they want. They're the ones that really need to be convinced. Uh, and, and, and they're just not going to be, I saw them very down on Rick Devins in a clip today. So who Angela and D talk, uh, talk. Oh yes. Talking smack about Rick Devins. Yeah.

[01:22:59] Cause he, they were upset that he changed his mind against what they had decided that they wanted at that point. Uh, that he was willing to use the veto on a melody instead of lyric. Yeah. And say, like you started to say, Taryn, he was too easily, um, convinced and it's like, no, you two are the ones who are being too easily convinced. But then they use that and convinced him. So like right now, right now this is happening. Drew and Kamu are both backing down. They're saying it's fine to take lyric off.

[01:23:29] So this is looking pretty locked. I knew it had to be very recent cause I was up to date on the feeds for the moment that episode started. Yeah. And I expected to be discussing how Devins was still going to veto melody. And then you started on this. I'm like, what happened? When did that happen? Taryn, does Kamu have a relationship with melody or is that coming from the Kamu and Drew have a relationship and this is good for Drew? He does have a relationship with melody.

[01:23:56] It's, it's a, it's a halfway decent one, but, uh, but Kamu was more so in it for the logic of it. He like, right. Of all the people that we're talking about, including Drew, Kamu was the one that had the best arguments for why it should be melody. Uh, and, uh, and I think that's primarily what he was arguing the case for more than anything else, but it, which is part of why he's, he's willing to back down off of it. Um, but, uh, but yeah, that's, that's basically it.

[01:24:25] AJ, I just want to say that I'm still waiting for my first Kamu, but of the season. I like that. That's fun. Give me a few minutes. Next update. I want to hear that. It was almost a Devin's butt if the feeds had been on him, uh, when he came out of the shower, but whoa, I don't know if you thought that yourself, Rob, but that's funny. No, I did. Um, all right.

[01:24:54] Uh, anything else from the weekend of feeds? That's the most of it, I think. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Uh, David, AJ, anything else on your mind? Nothing else. Nothing else on my mind. Like, besides the fact that I just think bad job with Yash, like, like, what are we doing here? Why is Yash still like a free agent? Why is Yash not locked in into anything?

[01:25:24] Like, really? Like, Yash is the person who wants to be locked in something so bad and no one's like really doing anything. Like, listen, people in the power, there's nothing wrong with having more numbers and especially a spendable one. People not in power, lock in. Like, what are we doing? Yash is our resident, like, destined to be the first boot who then wasn't player who's just kind of still there but not supposed to. Like, he's final destination then. This was Keanu last year for a while.

[01:25:50] Uh, and so, you know, we'll see if he ends up having a Keanu-like run. But, uh, yeah, he still like doesn't quite belong in that house yet. Yeah, I totally get that he is a free agent. But, uh, I had heard where Chuck is saying, like, even Chuck is like that he can't work with the women. Like, uh, he only, he only can get picked up by an alliance of bros. And there just isn't a bros alliance right now.

[01:26:21] Fair. Yeah, every time I see Yash on the feeds, I switch away. So I have a very Yash-free viewing most of the time. I know there are Yash fans out there. I posted and said, Yash fans, why are you fans of him? And I didn't get responses. So, um, I'm not sure why. Yeah, okay. All right, we'll see if anybody gets Yash at some point in time.

[01:26:48] Uh, in the meantime, let's talk about what else is coming up. And really, it's going to be another busy week here on RHAP with all of the podcasts and everything we have going on over on Patreon all season long. Uh, Taryn and I are going to get together for the BB Mailbag week two. You got strategy questions, big picture questions. Uh, we want to hear them. Send them in. Rob is a website.com slash BB Mailbag for that.

[01:27:16] Uh, and then on Tuesday night, I will be live with Chappelle for the slop week two. And, uh, I know we do have a lot of sloppy clips already. If you see slop happening, send that into us. Rob is a website.com slash get sloppy. And then Taryn will be back on Monday morning for the live feed update at 11 a.m. Eastern time.

[01:27:41] David, I was listening this weekend to, uh, you and Chappelle tell us why Ashley lost. Yes. Yes. Uh, you know, it was a little over an hour of talking about it and, uh, you know, not all of that was about Ashley. So, uh, yeah, but you know, even, even the players who, uh, who aren't very good, you got to discuss what they were not very good at. Okay. All right.

[01:28:07] And then we are so excited for RahapCon. The tickets went on sale for the patrons. Uh, pre-sale is up over on Patreon.com for RahapCon. A lot of big things planned. A lot of Big Brother planned for three days in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Uh, that's coming up August 26th to the 28th. AJ, what else is coming up for you? Um, nothing much. You can find, uh, me and Felipe on the Animation Station podcast.

[01:28:36] We are watching every single Pixar movie and talking about it. What are you up to now? Uh, we just released Monsters, Inc. And this week, or this week, we're doing Finding Nemo. So we're still early on in the project. But like, you know, it's a fun time. Also, me and the great, um, Mary and Matt, we are on the Free Agents Millennial TV podcast talking about millennials TV shows. So, you know, a bunch of nostalgia stuff if y'all want to check me out. Okay. Come for Matt and Frail Mary.

[01:29:04] Stay for maybe Frail Daddy appearing. With jokes. We didn't get to talk about the pipe queen tonight. It's canon. The pipe queen got mentioned in the episode. Mallory. Just the pipe queen. Queen of the pipes. Help. You distinguish the names. David, uh, we know, uh, why blank loss. Anything else coming up for you? Uh, yeah.

[01:29:33] I mean, every day I'm doing, uh, two or three videos on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Prolific social media content creator. Yes. I try to be. I try to be. Uh, so I'm at David Bloomberg TV there. And of course, I'm, uh, always on Blue Sky where I'm at David Bloomberg. Okay. All right. And Taryn, I know it was another busy weekend for you. Yes. Uh, as it should be here early in the season. Sure. Um, we, of course, uh, I've got the live feed update tomorrow morning.

[01:30:02] We've got the stock watch tomorrow night. Um, and, uh, you can otherwise find me on Twitch, YouTube, and Patreon streaming away. Did some live feed streams on Patreon. Good stuff. Yeah. Fun time. And then it'll be another busy week. Looking forward, uh, catching up with a, another Survivor 50 player to hear what she has to say about Rick and D. Be on the lookout for that this week. Thank you for joining us. Take care, everybody. Have a good one. Bye.
