In this episode recap, Taran Armstrong is joined by Brian Cohen and Sasha Joseph to break down the fallout, analyze chaotic deals, and [β¦][00:00:08] Hello everyone and welcome to Rob Has a Podcast. I'm your host, Aaron Armstrong, here today to talk to you about the latest episode of Big Brother 28. It's a Sunday night. We're going to be recapping the episode. And with me to recap it, it's Sasha. How you doing, Sasha? So good. The three musket turds are here. I can't wait. I can't wait. The poop is in the pudding. Yes. Also joining us tonight...
[00:00:39] Brian. How you doing, Brian? Doing great, Tara. We got Parents Night Out here with me and Sasha, so very exciting. Big, big Parents Night Out to recap this episode. Very exciting. Yes, yes. Of course, tonight we saw a slippery HOH competition. We saw fallout from the blindside eviction of Angela and the mourning of her loss,
[00:01:05] as well as a new HOH train. We will talk through it all tonight. I do think we need to start with the fallout from Angela's eviction. Obviously, it felt like the first 10 minutes of this episode were just like... So Barrett really sucked on his HOH, right? Like that was a bad one.
[00:01:32] Like, oh, he tried it. He tried. Like, you know, the Nancy Pelosi clap. Like, that's what they're doing to him right now. So bad. Yeah. Not great. A lot of Doritos content for them, too. Good for them to get the word out in case people weren't sure about what the big snack of choice was. Get the Doritos out. Yeah. Hey, ladies, Doritos.
[00:01:56] I'd say, I'd say, I'd listen. Sometimes you root for the little guy and this new snack. What is it called? Dorit? What was it? Toes. Toes. Doritos. Toes. I think you could make it. Yeah. I feel like with Angela's support, we can get it off the ground. But yes, Dee tells us... I can't believe they kept me. Dude, that's crazy. Crazy.
[00:02:27] Where's the line? All of us on Thursday. Literally everyone. It didn't matter who Stan you were. You were just like, Dee is too. Idiots. Idiots and incredible work by Dee. It was like the perfect storm of just like, how did this happen? And I'm so glad Dee's even like, I cannot believe they actually left me stay in this game. Unbelievable.
[00:02:50] Yeah. And they're like, Taylor's in the dining room. Like, yeah. After 66 days, we've been trying to take out the icons. But now I think it makes sense to work with them. And then later she's like, after 66 days. She's like walking out all cool in the HOH conference. We finally took out an icon. And now my allies are Dee and Devin's.
[00:03:21] Always love that your first thought of like, I'm going to work with these people. And then your first thought is, I'm scared. That's not great. I don't think you should be scared to work with who you want to work with. That should be a big red flag, as they say. We're all scared. That whole, that whole half of the episode. I'm just shaking my head like this is impossible. I don't trust Double D. Get out of here. Right. Like the Devin's and Dee are just like, the thing is like they're playing me too. Right.
[00:03:50] Cause they just kept being like, even in the, uh, in the diary room. They're like, I am rocking with Taylor and yes. They got me. They got me through this. Now I'm going to get them through this. And I say, you're bold face lie. I trust nothing. Y'all say it's going to be disaster.
[00:04:09] Yeah. Yeah. I mean, something that they did not show in this episode is that the morning after Dee was already pitching to target Yash the following week. Now to, I guess the credit of the episode, Devin's was not super on board and Dee has since said maybe she won't, uh, but this is Dee Devin's for talking about. I mean, come on.
[00:04:32] Give them the power next week. And, uh, let's see how that goes with the, with the palm with Yash's, uh, life in the palm of their hands. Let's see how they actually feel. Yes. Is already on death's door with the flu. So, you know what I mean? Like it's just girl. Yeah. Yeah. Well, uh, as I said, they're all kind of like dunking on, uh, Barrett's HOH and Dee actually says something in confessional that, uh, it was really good to see on
[00:05:01] the episode. Cause normally the subtleties of something like this wouldn't translate to the episode at all because a large reason why this vote flip happened was that Barrett spent all of his time up in the HOH room after he made his nominations. He did not go downstairs. He didn't socialize very much. And he left, uh, Yash and Taylor to their own devices, which gave Dee all the space she needed to get in there and campaign. Uh, and again, that's not really something that's like
[00:05:30] usually going to make the, it's hard to like properly show, but Dee recognized it and was able to explain it to us. So it was a cool subtlety to include in the episode. Unfortunately, in the same breath, we then have Devin's explaining his part of this master plan where he got also them to keep him as well, which is just not true. It's just, it just wasn't even, it just wasn't even true. Like it really, it really like felt like I feel in the edit, like it was a DN Devin's thing.
[00:06:00] And that they both succeeded in flipping Yash and Taylor. But the reality is that Devin's failed to flip Yash and Taylor. They were planning to vote him out. If he hadn't won that blockbuster, he doesn't know that, but that's the truth of the situation. This is much more of a D move than a Devin's move. And I'm surprised they wouldn't just like showcase that. Right. Cause at this point we're in the end game. So like you could set up wherever you want to, you know, be your, like your star of the show to potentially win. Like these already built up to be like this mastermind.
[00:06:29] And Devin's is more like a little bit more like the kooky character saving himself with the block versus doing the gambling things. Give D the full credit. Like the show, like these, they're showing D herself, giving herself the full credit. But like, I can't believe they kept me go all the way and be like, I was the one who only saved myself. Devin's is still like off to the side, trying to do his own thing. Just like dive fully in and give D like the hundred percent. Like this is her move, her arc right now.
[00:06:54] Is it like saving their butts, you know, a little if D goes out and I hope this isn't a spoiler that they're, you know, just saying that I will give each other the credit. You know, we'll do, you can lie for our moves. So is that like coming through production to help them with that strategy? No, I mean, I'm saying they need production. Production is trying to walk us through it. Like we are, you know, big brother for dummies. Oh, I see what you're saying.
[00:07:21] No, I mean, I think that I think, well, I mean, there's one read of it, which is that they want to give that Devin's is a very popular player on the cast and that he just went through a whole week of looking like a dummy. And and this is a good opportunity to give him some bounce back as a potential winner of this game. There's another explanation, which is that, you know. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of the story.
[00:07:47] Josh and Taylor, they will likely end up betraying both D and Devin's at some point or staying loyal to both D and Devin's at some point. I mean, they would likely choose D over Devin's if they were to make a choice, but that doesn't have to necessitate the decision to have evicted Devin's this week or not. I think there's some fun like narrative tension and character building in that Devin spent another week thinking that he might have been good on the block when he wasn't.
[00:08:17] Devin's being the one to shut D down about potentially targeting Josh and Taylor in the future, not knowing that they were actually planning to vote him out and not D. And so that the fact that like Josh and Taylor are actually trusting the wrong one of those two vets and those two vets are like also like thinking along opposite lines. But maybe that's a little too intricate for the story they're trying to tell. So, you know, it is what it is, but it's one of those a little annoying things where it's like that's it's not quite what's happening here. Shocker.
[00:08:46] But with Barrett being stuck up as a huge one, I know it's like a tough story necessarily to tell, but they do love a good montage. I was hoping they would do something like that, like just show all the timestamps like Barrett still there. Barrett still here times that Barrett still there. I think there could have been a funny way. I mean, they clearly want to goof on Barrett on this episode. I think there was a way to do it even more. They could have got a little creative with that. Just having it just not just be detailing us like this is I think.
[00:09:11] Yeah, I think if they had a way to set it up, there's a there's a really funny edit that is like because I made the joke that Barrett has talked to the cameras more than he's talked to another human being in the last five days. And if they had anybody who knew that who could say it in the diary room, they could have done a montage of all of the different camera talks he's done. Right. Which, yes, would have been very fun. But obviously they're they're a bit limited to to what the other players are going to be able to say. And obviously they don't know that he's talking to the cameras.
[00:09:41] But here it is. It didn't go the way that Barrett wanted. It did go the way that D wanted. And now it is time for an HOH competition. And I don't know about you guys. This one was a it was kind of a rough watch for me. This was not the most exciting competition I've seen in my life. Yeah, I feel like we've had a good run of group competitions.
[00:10:07] We haven't had a lot of individual ones as much lately, which is, I think, been a big help of like the viewing experience because you're not seeing the same thing going a thousand times, which I'm typically used to on the challenge where you see a thousand different people do the same thing over and over again. So the fact that we had it here was a little yeah, like a little bit bad. I thought they were doing something creative in the beginning where they were having Taylor and Yash or they're showing them kind of go with the split screens. I thought they were trying to yada yada, but they only did it for those two. And then they had a truncated prequel for the back.
[00:10:34] But yeah, not not the most riveting thing to, you know, happen on our television screens today. I think they love like a good here is a you know, here are the house guests being silly, goofy fools. And they really wanted to milk the shit right out of the literally eating. OK, of them eating it like all the time, which again, it was funny for a little bit, but it was all right. I just why did it have to be that long?
[00:11:04] Also, Brian, what you were saying, even my notes, right? I said, oh, we're getting like each person's strategy. That's nice. It ended at Yash and Taylor again. But fine, if we at least had that, we could have got into, oh, this is why, you know, D could have, you know, cut off some milliseconds or whatever. But I think outside of that, they really gave us nothing except boom, boom, boom, like fighting and falling.
[00:11:33] Yeah, I think there's exactly two reasons why we have this competition. One of them is that they love the and people injuring themselves. And number two, they love people getting squirted in the face by things. Yes. And that's slime. So Mike Bloom had to appreciate that. It was just water. It's not slime. So this is a Mike Bloom approval. Oh, my God. Viscous water. It looks like. I don't know. They probably had to add something for it to show up on camera, right?
[00:12:01] We should be grateful that this was supposed to, I assume, be cactus water and not football player sweat, I believe, was the previous iteration of this one. That's better. Yeah, because I remember being like, no, this is fine. But we have seen this comp before. And I remember it being horrible and nasty. Like, wasn't it out of socks or something? Yeah. Who cares? Not that it really matters. It was sweat and it was like, it was very viscous.
[00:12:31] It looked like. Milk. So I know there was a lot of talk about figuring out the pattern, right? Did anyone was it revealed that anyone cracked the pattern or was everyone just purely guessing? Yes. So this is this is one of those. This is one of the reasons why I think it was not very fun to watch is because they had to hide something in this competition, which is that there was a very clear strategy.
[00:12:59] Which was there was one particular cactus that had the best stream. And the best strategy was to just stand at that cactus, fill up the thing, dump it, fill it up, dump it. And it was just a matter of like, like all the slips and falls you saw were people figuring out that that was the spot. And once they did, they just stood in that spot.
[00:13:21] And so the only person that did not figure out the spot was Drew, who at the very end, you saw him in the spot because he found it out at the very, very end. But everybody else just took some time to find the spot, found the spot. And that was the end of the competition, basically. And listen, Drew was a little drunk. If you saw his entrance, right, he did the whole getting kicked out of the saloon. That was cute, I guess. Yeah. You know, something variety.
[00:13:52] OK, I appreciate it. But I was like, OK, are you drunk? Is that why you did so bad? Bless him. The players in the. Yeah, go ahead. I was going to say this is a little off topic a little bit. But do we know why they're so obsessed with Egypt? Like they were hoping we're going to Egypt. Why are they obsessed with going to this time period? Who wouldn't want to go to Egypt? Yeah. Even X-Men went there this season. So, you know, but you could it could have been a fun Egypt, right?
[00:14:21] Like water in the desert with cactus. Same. I mean, not well, Egypt doesn't have cacti, but it should have shit out of the camels. Yeah, I shoot it out of camels. I could shoot out of the sphinx. What are we shooting out of camels, man? Spit! Let's go to Disney. This happens at Disney for real. A lot of they all dunked on Drew because they all got to watch Drew.
[00:14:47] And many of them said in the house that Drew's performance in this competition was a perfect metaphor for his game in the season.
[00:14:56] And I can't help but having now watched it say, yeah, I think that's completely true because he's like running around, being a goof, running all over the place, like doing doing like knee slides, like narrowly avoiding falls, like fancy kind of like all over the place.
[00:15:21] And he's constantly trying to get to the source of water as soon as it runs dry, then running to the next place. And like being the only person who didn't realize that he needed to change his strategy and stop doing the same thing over and over and failing, only to eventually find it right as the blister dropped. And it's like, you know, you would hope that that's the metaphor for his game in the sense that like now maybe he has learned his lesson.
[00:15:50] He has found the right path. Is it too late for him, though, is the question here, as of course, Yash wins the HOH and will likely be targeting him. But but it was I do think that it was it was fun to finally see this because they were all talking about Drew's performance for so long in the house. It does. Why ham it up this much when your life is on the line? I guess that's what I don't understand. But, you know, bless them. It's it's part of his DNA.
[00:16:20] I guess the only thing missing probably from like Yash's perspective would be if Drew somehow got water into one of the icons tubes to help their game. I suppose that would be the only thing missing, I guess, from the metaphor for his own game. Drew would have had to go before that. You know, I've been like, um, can I get like Daddy Devon's is water. Instead, I'll just I'll get it halfway for him. He won't not me.
[00:16:46] Well, ultimately, it is Yash that comes away with the win. And as he says, it is his third week in a row of wins. You could argue it's even more than that, considering he won in the in the in the contest, the medieval contest. And then and I've talked about this the week before that he never competed on these HOH. He didn't compete in HOH veto or Blockbuster. And the week before that.
[00:17:15] He won all he won HOH and veto. So like you could stretch this further back than even Yash is in this confessional. But but hey, he's got some sage advice. You can't lose if you win. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I always say. Love it. Confucius would be, you know, so proud. I do think players should take this to home.
[00:17:42] Like for people that throw these like you can't get eliminated in a week that you win HOH. So you can't lose the game if you win HOH. It's very obvious, but I do think people should remember it. Yeah. Here's the thing. You could lose your ally like you did what Kamu. And now, you know, it's just sure. But that's also not a bad thing. Look, you know, what is IRL? Yes.
[00:18:11] But in the game sucks for Yash. Yeah. I was thinking about it during the episode. I think it was when when Bear was was like, you know, commiserating that like I just it reminded me yet again of how different this entire season would look if Mallory and Barrett hadn't thrown that HOH to D on the balance beam. I Yash might have gone home that week.
[00:18:38] That was the that was the week that like Yash might not have won that veto or blockbuster. It was it was a very random. That was the blockbuster with all of the images that Drew took a 50 50 guess at. And it was the veto competition that Lala dominated. And so it's like that might have been the one chance if Barrett say Barrett had won and taken that shot.
[00:19:03] Or if Mallory had won and maybe either taken that shot or maybe had taken Haley out a week early or maybe just taken the shot at Devin's and D that week. And who knows where we would be if that had happened. Instead, we have Mallory going to watch parties, still trash it on D. So that's the timeline we live in. What are we doing? Well, we could have tried as hard as D did in the house to keep ourselves. That's what we could have done.
[00:19:33] True. So Yash is the H.O.H. And this presents a little bit of a dilemma for the episode because he basically doesn't have a choice for who he nominates. And we know it and he knows it. And the house basically knows it. So they do give us a little bit here to be like, well, what if Taylor goes up initially as a way to protect her? Maybe. Maybe.
[00:20:00] The one thing I thought they would tease, even though I don't think it was a really option. But like, obviously, we like people at home did the math of like if the person you left off won the veto and they took something, he could throw an icon up that way. I was surprised there was not like a confessional or a moment of like I could still kind of get D or Devin's out if I wanted to by doing like X, Y, or Z. Even though like it was I just thought that would be something that they would at least toss into the episode for a bit of intrigue.
[00:20:28] It is something they talked about, too. Yeah. Like they did. Like he did talk about that with Taylor for whatever reason. They like I said, they didn't include D mentioning that she might go after Yash and they didn't include him talking about potentially putting them up on the block this week. In the event, the one scenario that would allow it, of course, is if Taylor's off the block, uses the veto on one of the three on the block, mathematically forcing an icon on the block.
[00:20:52] But for whatever reason, they wanted to not tell the story of there being any kind of like tension between Yash, Taylor and the survivors. So we didn't get it. What we did get was Operation Blame Drew for everything that Yash and Taylor did. Just Blame Drew to Melody, Blame Drew to Barrett.
[00:21:19] And and and and in the process also lie about the block, the bribe still that like that it's still that the blame Drew part works because Barrett and Melody are prone to blaming Drew. And listen, I get it. There's been plenty to blame Drew about throughout the season. But I do think at this point we've gone long past blaming Drew.
[00:21:45] Like it is no longer Drew's fault that you're in this position. You two both made the decisions you made last week against Drew's wishes. You shut him out of the veto competition. Melody advised Barrett to do so. Shut him out of the veto competition after promising that you'd pick him. Told him that you planned to vote him out. And you're mad that he didn't follow you around like a puppy that week and like had his own plans.
[00:22:13] And now he's just being obviously blamed for a thing that happened because of your actions, not talking with Taylor and Yash enough like. You're not entitled to his loyalty. This is a game. Like, what are we doing? No, you I want to say you are 100 percent correct. But it is so funny to watch. Right. Like, again, social dynamics in the house is like Drew would say the sky is blue and they'd be like this boot licking ass.
[00:22:41] Drew, we obviously know it's white with like blue sprinkled in. Right. Like it's just they like when you just don't like someone, it literally does not matter what, you know, this person does. And and that's why I funny enough enjoy like Barrett, Melody and Drew's relationship because they be little brothering his ass like all the time. Right. They're like this ankle biter. He's back at it again.
[00:23:08] Right. And just like doing some dumb assery that I'm here. And then because in my mind, if you're Yash, why would you tell Melody that Drew is your target? Right. Like, why would you talk to their closest allies like this? But it's like these two are like this idiot. We know we know he's dumb, but he's our idiot. So we'll figure it out.
[00:23:31] So and it's not like clicking in my head why they just don't take a step back and be like, Drew, what is this? What you're actually doing? And then Drew will be like, no, I'm actually not like a crazy weasel. He's just so easily blamable. I think what you get in the mode of blaming Drew, like you're not going to start blaming yourself and saying like I did anything wrong. No one's going to actually do that. You're going to just blame Drew guys there.
[00:23:57] Yeah, it's obviously Drew's fault about anything on the side is happening. Let's just blame Drew. It's just like the default mode. So like it's easy to know. Yeah. And listen, don't get me wrong. I've been loving the pettiness all season long from all corners. I love how like how D's been strutting around the house like I told Barrett. So and look at where we've come to.
[00:24:23] Drew, I love I loved when Mallory was mad. I loved I'm loving Drew now. What are we doing? Also mad. I'm loving Yash in the diary room. F that guy. They all hate each other and I love it.
[00:24:40] But this in particular, I think is so game impacting in terms of like like Melody and Barrett need to stop getting so focused on blaming Drew and actually focus on pulling him back in at some point. Because it's not that simple to just lump all the blame on him. You need to like as they keep saying they have to work with him at this point. They have no real other option.
[00:25:09] So like you got to get your feelings under control and start playing the game here. I still think I think they think how they are like when Melody is crying and the confession will be like I have no one else to work with. I think they think that's how Drew still thinks to some degree. Like he's like they can't. Drew can't possibly think he can go back with the icons. But like that's what he's doing. That's what he's trying to do. So that's his default mode is I'm going to try to go back to the icons.
[00:25:35] And they still can't wrap their head around that because they are so anti icon that they think he's also still. No, he's not that now. So they just like, all right, well, I have to work with Drew and Drew has to work with me. And that's just like what they assume. But like that's not Drew's default. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:25:52] Well, what doesn't work from Yash pretty clearly is this like half hearted nonsense lie about like, OK, so can you nominate Devins or not? And this I was pretty anti this lie on the updates. And and here's the reason.
[00:26:13] And I think it was displayed in the episodes that basically Yash is saying I am not obligated to protect Devins on this HOH. I'm telling the truth about the nature of the bribe. However, I did make a handshake deal with Devins that I do want to honor. So I'm going to have to nominate you, Barrett and you, Melody.
[00:26:40] And the problem I have with this lie is that it's so laser focused on like making sure that Yash doesn't get caught lying before that he's not considering the fact that number one, it's not believable. But number two, even if it was believable, even if he succeeded in convincing them that this is the truth, that's worse.
[00:27:00] What he's done is convince them that he's actively choosing to honor his deal with Devins over his deal with with Barrett and Melody, which is a worse situation for him to be telling them. But I don't think he sees that because he's so focused on not getting caught in the original lie. That's what it. Oh, my God. This was so frustrating to watch again. Barrett's better than me, like at least acting super understanding, because I would be like, drop it. You know, it's like I'm over it.
[00:27:30] I'm not stupid. Just let's actually strategize around what you did instead of, you know, playing the stupid cat and mouse game. And I get it. Like, yes, you know, it's like learning as he goes. But it's like it's just if you're a human being, how do you not understand that you keep lying to these people? But then eventually you're going to need their vote if you allegedly right. Want to get D or and or Devins out at another point in time.
[00:27:59] Why do we have to keep lying like this? Like, it's so stupid and it's like so aggravating to watch his ass because I was like, can no one tell this man? Look, look, look at how it's coming out. You look stupid. I just think for Yash, he was just he was just so like 10 toes down in that nomination ceremony when Andrew was like, you're a liar, you're a liar, you're a liar. And he just doesn't want to, like, go back to that and be like, well, I was lying about this, but I wasn't lying about the vote.
[00:28:28] And now he's just like, I'd rather just be known as, I guess, a stupid player than a liar because I've been so adamant that I'm not a liar. So he'd rather go down on the lying ship than realizing that, yeah, like not putting up Devins is actually an atrocious play. Like, why would you put up Devins or not put up Devins over Melody? That's like so stupid. So, I mean, the thing is, it's it's still a lie, right? Like the lie, the whole deal he made with Barrett and Melody the week before. Right. And that's what I think he's not seeing.
[00:28:59] Not the smartest folks, these people. Yeah, it's just I don't understand how you're giving nothing. And yes, sometimes like really is so lucky that he can win comps because he's just lying for the sake of lying. And it's again, like we love when people bounce checks and lie in big brother. I want to make that so clear. I love that shit. But it's like Dan's funeral. Are you kidding me? We need more people like this.
[00:29:29] But if you're gonna like lie, let's make it silly. Let's make it believable. Let's make it worth your game. Let's build allies over it. But no, we're just burning everyone for Devin. I just think this is such a no brainer at this point. Like the truth is less damaging than the lie now. Just be like. I can't I can't nominate Devin's. That was the deal.
[00:29:59] I was forced to take it. I got so scared when they talked about it. I started lying just because I was so shocked that they brought it up in a room full of people. And then I just like, you know, you were HOH and I didn't want to ruin the trust of the ceasefire. So I had to I had to just stick with it. I'm so sorry, but I'm going to do everything I can to protect you this week. And now this bribe is done. My shackles are lifted and I will be gunning for them full force next week.
[00:30:27] Like, I feel I just feel like that's a lot more like a lot more likely to work than no, no, no, no. It's I was telling the truth. It's just that I prefer to honor my word to Devin's over you. That's it. Easy. I think people underestimate the power of telling the truth and owning up to something. I think people like will respect it more like, yeah, like I was going to go home. My hands were tied. I didn't want I got caught in a lie.
[00:30:56] I but I'm telling you the truth now because I want to build trust now. I don't want you to go home. I want you. I want to work like there's like power in that. And that's supposed to like, again, treating you like an idiot like that. I'm like not putting up Devin's by choice. I think just like own up to it. And I especially for someone like that. Like he'll, you know, he'll understand. They might not like it. Might be upset in the moment, but like he'll be like, all right, at least he told me the truth. And at least now I could see the vision here. Mm hmm.
[00:31:22] Well, ultimately, we do see that Drew Barrett and Melody are nominated for eviction. And and Barrett tells us he's going to find out just how hard that handshake was. Oh, girl. Girl, because I get Barrett's reaction was me, right? Like he was kind of it feels like surprise, but also just like this idiot. Like we all knew this and now it's out in the open.
[00:31:52] Bless Yush's heart that he really thinks that he can lie this well and he can, you know, sell it so much. When you you couldn't sell water, you know, to someone in the desert, right in Egypt, you just you couldn't you couldn't do it. That's how bad you are lying right now. And again, I think sometimes when people comp out this much, they just kind of rely on that right more than the social game.
[00:32:18] And this way, maybe Taylor could have helped him a little bit. But now Taylor was like, maybe, yeah, if you could nom me as a, you know, as a pawn girl, pawns go home. I did appreciate the little challengers to put Melody in the center with Drew and Barrett on either side of her in the ordering of the pictures. I did. I don't know how who who decided the order and how that all goes down, but I did appreciate it. To be first. OK.
[00:32:49] He did it. He was very excited about that. But he had a big yelp from him. And that was when they popped up. So. Oh, my God. It's just so funny. Like, it's just like, I can't. I can't. They're all so nice about it. Let's be annoyed that he is lying. Yeah. Yeah. And listen, we've had some good nomination ceremonies. So, like, you know, I'm not it's harder to complain about the format, but it's still terrible.
[00:33:18] This format is like we talked about it endlessly, but every it's it's like it's not something I get used to personally of my first nominee is it's just such bad television. Every time I never get used to it. Anyway, anything else from the episode that we should talk about before we get into a little bit of spoilers?
[00:33:42] Do we all currently trust or maybe we can go into spoilers and ask D and Devens, but maybe we can talk about it. Spoilers. All right. Spoilers. Yeah. Yes. If you're listening to this after the fact, the episode was a bit late and it was delayed as well. So we're speedy here. We've got a tight podcast going on. Let's get into some spoilers. The Office of Civil Defense has issued the following message.
[00:34:10] This is a spoiler warning. A spoiler warning means that an actual spoiler against this country has been detected and that protective action should be taken. Yes, we have some spoilers for you tonight because they did play a veto. They they they teased it. They even had a like a whole preview. This whole Fockers in law movie, which, by the way, fourth movie in the series.
[00:34:40] Meet the parents, meet the Fockers. Little Fockers. Didn't know that one existed. And now. Focker Focker and Focker in law. Fockers in law. I don't remember. Ariana Grande, baby. That's the one. Ariana Grande. Yes. In law. Um. So, uh, this was quite a surprise. If you have not listened to the update, if you've not paid attention to the feeds, um, they've been calling this a pressure cooker competition.
[00:35:10] And, uh, I have been upset about that naming, that titling because it is not the pressure cooker competition, especially if it's going to be a veto that's not on the feeds. However, yesterday, a couple hours into the feeds being down for the veto competition, they come back up. What?
[00:35:39] What do you mean they come back up? What are you talking about? How is that possible? How could it possibly? Hot damn! Sorry, I had to go to the other board to get the spoilers. Darren, I could see the brainy. Darren was like, wait, wait, wait. Let me, let me, let me bam, baby, too much. Damn, damn, damn. The feeds come on.
[00:36:05] And they were on for, uh, something around, what was it? Like, 11 hours that we watched? Um, and, uh, it was quite a lengthy competition. Um, we, I've talked about this before. That the, this kind of like, how bad do you want it? Style of competition is a lot more fun. Even if it's more do or die than an HOH competition is.
[00:36:32] An HOH competition, you can make a deal with the person at the, uh, on the other side of the competition. Hey, we won't put each other up. And then do you need the HOH if you believe that person? There's, there's less reason. If you are on the block and you are competing against another person that is on the block, it's just do or die. There's very little deals to be made. And so, uh, it's a very, it's very nice that we got this on the feeds.
[00:37:02] I am, I am nothing if not a man of my own word. Not that I made a promise, but I am, I am, I am, but a fair, uh, man like Julius Caesar or Drake, uh, as Yash might say. Drake? Oh, brother. Taryn, Taryn, come back to us. I am, I am, but a humble, uh, student of the Yash playbook here.
[00:37:30] You know, it's fine. You can't, you can quote, but don't do that. Um, and so listen, if they want to call it a, uh, pressure cooker competition, like, you know, solo, a star Wars story or whatever the hell they called that. Okay. Okay. Fine. Fine. It was on the feeds. I'll take it. That's my, that's my take.
[00:38:01] Oh my gosh. It's just, I agree with you. Why do they, I guess, hate to do a real pressure cooker is my question. Is it because D would cook them and they would all just kind of leave? Right. Like, is it because the new school players in general just don't have it? I honestly don't know. Yeah. It's so odd because it's, they, it's like, they didn't bring it back. They did bring it back and basically do it again.
[00:38:26] Like, are they, do they lose the button technology that they have to stick with this little pole thing that they have to just go with this? Like, it's not like that detailed of a cop that they, it's like so expensive to do. Like, just bring out the button. How can it be that hard? Just like, well, let's bring it back. Ooh, also they, Survivor loves here, you know, do some quick algebra with me. Survivor loves Mr. Beast. You know, Big Brother loves Survivor.
[00:38:52] Therefore, we should always be doing like for last to leave in Big Brother. Why wasn't Mr. Beast hosting this? That's what I was saying. I hear you, Sasha. Bring back Mr. Pextacular. Put him in the box. Put him in there. How did we go from Mr. Beast to Mr. Pextacular? No, I was like, this is how you really pissed him off in there. You know what I'm saying? Like, can you imagine Jesse trying to get D to quit? Yes.
[00:39:21] I can. Yes. I love it. You know what I mean? You're welcome, Big Brother. But that's what I miss in the, in the pressure cooker. It's like all of them just like in a box, fighting for their life, yelling at each other. Trying to act a fool. The only way, the only thing that would have made this more intense, if there was no blockbuster.
[00:39:46] Like if you had actually Drew and Barrett potentially fighting for their life with like no outlet, like there's no extra escape. That would have been unbelievable. But like, because like Barrett still has like a good way to like escape and be fine. It's like a little bit of a buzzkill. I completely agree. I think that this should have been the final six veto rather than, or sorry, I guess if they're doing a double eviction, they couldn't. Even a final five veto, maybe. It's just quite important.
[00:40:15] Even, hey, a final four veto where it's incredibly important. I guess you could make a deal with the final four veto person. So that probably wouldn't work actually. But like, you know, or hey, even better idea. Don't do the blockbuster at final seven. It's way too late in the game to do the blockbuster at this point. But yeah. Also, why are we doing swords? I don't get it. It's just like they ended up going for nearly the same amount of time. They came close to the record for the button pressure cooker.
[00:40:44] So it's not like they were like, oh, we need to do swords so that we don't last as long. Leah lasted around 10 hours and they made it harder on themselves. So clearly they knew it could go longer. They clearly made it harder last season when they made it way too hard and it only lasted an hour. And so they made it more. They made it easier again. But why not just have the button at this point? It's just like that.
[00:41:07] The sword just makes it less likely that somebody who is less physically fit or young is going to win, which is just like, you know, it's like what is the point? It's just more annoying. The only thing I can think of is when you like let go of the button, you can't really see it. Like it's like you don't really see what's happening. Like your finger could slip. They kind of have to like do a rewind and zoom in.
[00:41:31] Like when the sword thing falls off, it is a little more visually like it's more visually clear that you're eliminated. That's like the one thing I'll give them. But I don't know if you like have the original just stick with you. Make the button bigger. I don't know. Do something to make it a little bit more. Again, put them in a clear box. Let them be close to each other. So it's not actually about the button. Hmm.
[00:41:58] I mean, listen, I think, yeah, I think my counter argument, because I do agree. I think that obviously it's more visual to have a thing drop. Right. Right. But I think the counter to that is when you're holding a button, you can be a lot more entertaining as a player. You can be a lot more animated. And we've seen that like famously.
[00:42:17] Basically, Jace, who I thought Drew was emulating a little bit in this competition, I hold on held on to a button that was on a cardboard cut of his face for roughly nine hours as he was like. Which you can't really do as well when you're holding a. You have to be so careful and stiff and still for the most part. And, yeah, you know, Drew was kind of moving. They slowly took off their jackets. It's, you know, they they squatted down occasionally.
[00:42:46] But like you can't be as fun and interesting, I think, during this competition as you can during the button pressing. So that would be that would be my counter there. Either way. We do get this competition on the feeds and I did a full recounting of it this morning on the update. And I thought the update might go like 15 minutes. It went an hour. So you can certainly go. Yeah.
[00:43:15] Into all the detail there if you want. But what it came down to. Yes. One thing about the cop before we get to like the more important stuff. But like what made this or what made the other one so much harder? Like what are the chains that made this one so much easier that they can go like 15 hours as opposed to like one hour? Yeah, it's a good question. And the answer is like, I don't think we know for sure. My guess is there's I would say two leading theories and it could be both.
[00:43:45] Number one, the sword may have been different. It may have been heavier. Ashley and Ava talked about how they felt it was difficult to even lift when they played. Now, that may or may not be true. Or what might also be true or be true instead is that the mask that they were holding rather than this like little slip of like lie detector thing that the mask itself was heavier.
[00:44:09] And so it required a lot more force to keep stable on the thing they were holding it up against. And so or who knows? There could be a number of other factors. Maybe the material it was made off of was slipperier on the plastic of the thing they were holding it on to. You know, a number of things could have been the reason. But ultimately, it was clearly much more difficult than this one. I the first person dropped at like four and a half hours.
[00:44:36] And last season, the whole competition lasted around 50 minutes. So like it was there's clearly some kind of difference, but hard to know exactly what it is without being there. Yeah. Weight feels like the most obvious answer. But yeah, like you're right. Also, it's just so frustrating that Melody was talking about how her bra strap right like came like made her uncomfortable, basically. And that's why she gets out.
[00:45:03] It's just such a frustrating like moment that first of all, it was all the women get out. Well, two of them, but still they both get out. Oh, and you know, for one of them, it being like a bra strap really just pissed me off. Just I wanted to bring that up. Well, ultimately, it came down to Drew and a quite ill Yash who was struggling.
[00:45:27] He got sick and was standing there for like 13 and a half hours, like sick. And and despite what I said about there not being much incentive to make a deal, Drew was able to talk Yash into accepting a deal to step down and allow him to win the power of veto. Not just a deal that was like, hey, I'll promise to keep Taylor safe, given that she's the renom, but also a deal to work together moving forward.
[00:45:56] A deal that they promised that they will be keeping secret because nobody could hear them as they competed and made this deal. So far today, they have kept it a secret. Who knows exactly where this will go? But but another aspect of this is that they did spend like 13 and a half hours in that hell bonding, I think, a bit. So I think there is something actually here. Drew, of course, exactly.
[00:46:27] Drew, of course, ultimately pulls out a really great performance in this competition, managing to get Yash to drop and and is now safe for the week. And it's looking like it's Barrett or Melody that will likely be going home on Thursday. Wild if Drew actually does this right. Like I didn't seal your fate. I seal your partner's fate. If that actually happens.
[00:46:55] This is where I say, do we trust D and Devin to act correctly here? I know currently they're saying yes, but maybe it's not Wednesday. I'm asking it too early. I do wonder if I feel like Drew really wants to say Melody, like him leaking this to the icons. Wouldn't that make them more inclined to vote out Taylor? That's what I would think. And I don't want Taylor out. I'm just. No. Yeah.
[00:47:25] It's weird. It could. It's it's a tough situation because there's not in my mind, there's not any actual logical reason to take out Taylor. If you are one of the icons, though, you know, that's right. Right. And that's that's what that's what like kind of what we're getting at. Right. Is that survivors have made kind of wild flips before. But they don't.
[00:47:53] They also don't like to like listen to Drew. So Drew being the bearer of that information might feel very transparent to them, which might turn them off to potentially flipping. So it's like there is, I think, a combination of things and pieces of information that could get to the icons that would get them to consider taking out Taylor just to spite Yash for. You know, betraying them in whatever way that, oh, now he's making a deal with Drew.
[00:48:23] But I'm not sure that that path stems from Drew himself going to the icons and being like, hey, you can't trust Yash. You better take out Taylor. So it'll be interesting. It'll be interesting to see. And not to mention the fact that, as we've mentioned, like there is tension there. Yash is making deals with Drew. He made a final four with Barrett and Melody, or at least sort of implied that they would make one.
[00:48:46] Um, while, you know, D and Devin's have already talked about potentially taking that shot at Yash. And even if they didn't fully commit to it in the double eviction. If they hold the veto, if a spot is open on the block and Yash is sitting right there, you could just make that decision on the spot. Uh, and yes, when it comes to this eviction as well, Taylor versus Melody.
[00:49:14] Melody is worse at competitions than Taylor, like almost demonstrably, like she's just performed worse. So that's probably the most logical reason you could make to keep Melody over Taylor. But, uh, but I think, I think more so to your point, Brian, that like the idea that they might not want to work with Yash anymore could lead them to sort of like come to this more sort of like emotional conclusion of, well, if we're anti Yash, then we're anti Taylor too.
[00:49:44] Uh, and therefore we might take out Taylor. So Taylor definitely not completely out of the water here. Especially you can just do it. If you're worried about like the backlash from Yash, you can just get him out in 45 minutes later. So like, it might not even be that big of a deal. Like you just vote out Taylor, you know, less than an hour later, Yash is out the door too. And it's like, whoop, I don't have to deal with that. You know, Yash being upset. Exactly. It's going to be so bad. Thursday is going to be terrible for us fans of Yash and Taylor. Lord. Yeah.
[00:50:13] I mean, and it does like, there is, again, there's a logic to it. If you don't think about it too hard, which is like, okay. Which is their game. Yes. If I vote out Taylor and protect Melody or even Barrett theoretically, but more so Melody, it theoretically pleases Melody, Barrett and Drew and Yash can't compete in the HOH and Taylor's gone. So everybody playing in the double eviction HOH, we're all targeting Yash.
[00:50:41] That's sounds good on paper, but even if it works now, you're in the final three or sorry, the final five against a trio, which is not amazing, but maybe not the worst thing in the world. Problem is there's a good chance it doesn't work because let's say Barrett or Drew win that double eviction HOH. Who are they putting on the block next to Yash? One of you two. What happens if Yash wins the veto? It's over. You're done.
[00:51:08] So, you know, it's not the best situation in the world. If you're if you're them, if you think about it a little too, too much. So we'll see. There would be something. Yeah, I would say there would be something so funny about back to back weeks. The icon, all three icons go on the block and all three fat go on the block. And somehow the two people getting evicted would be Angela and Melody. Like, that's crazy. Like, that's unbelievable. It plays all like that. That's big brother, baby. He's useless.
[00:51:37] I mean, if if they followed that pattern, then Taylor would be the one that leaves in the double. Oh, brother, don't you know what? I rebuke you. I rebuke you. Oh, and is it true? I don't know. I've seen a lot of like fake. I don't know. Who knows what the trust did. Did Drew actually swear on a fake cousin? Is that a real thing that that happened? I saw conflicting things. I and I don't know. Obviously, like I have no idea about his personal. So I don't really know what to believe.
[00:52:05] I saw that it's not a cousin, but like a like a childhood friend. And I saw that he doesn't have a cousin. And so theoretically, those two things aren't necessarily conflicting. But there's an implication that if he doesn't have a cousin that he made this person up, which I'm not sure is the case. But I don't know. Which would be unbelievable. People should. I would love it if you did. I swear on that. I love making up people. Yeah. Make up all the people. Yeah. You got to like go in with that plan, right?
[00:52:33] Like you have to have one person that you sprinkle in here and there. They can't be. You can't like overdo it. You can't talk about them every single day. I miss cousin Matthew so much. You know, every single day being like, oh, shout out cousin Matthew. Can't do that. But just enough to have everyone else maybe shouting out cousin Matthew. And, you know, if I'm on the block, D and, you know, everyone else needs to be like, shout out cousin Matthew. This is for Drew.
[00:53:02] That's the type of lie that I that you got to like get in on the ground floor. And then let that Ponzi scheme keep going. They're doing fake jobs. Like, yeah, have fake relatives, have fake cousins, fake friends. Like, have a whole fake life over there that you could just swear on. So there's a guy on Squid Game season two that made up a fake baby. Oh, yeah. That guy was near. And I live for it. OK. But yeah, the thing that makes me inclined to believe that it is possible that this person
[00:53:31] does exist is that he also swore on his real sister. So it's like it was a very strange thing to like swear on a real person and a fake person, which leads you to believe that maybe they're probably just both real or maybe he just didn't feel like the sister was enough. And so he had to add a fictional person on top of it. I don't like I said, it's just make someone up ahead of time. Don't cause yourself stress. Just one person. And that's it. You're good.
[00:54:00] Swear on their life. A hundred times. I just hope we get the confession of Drew being like, yeah, this person. I don't know. This is completely made up person. I think that would be a really fun scene. Yeah, I really hope it happens. You know what, Drew? It's fine. Actually, lie to us. How about that? Right. Like say that Matthew doesn't exist. I'll swear on anything. I'll make up a bat. I don't care. Yeah. Especially like Wednesday's episode is going to be two hours. So they have a lot of time.
[00:54:30] I think that this could be a really fun edit for the show. They've got the space for it. And this is a competition that actually warrants spending a lot of time on it and not rushing through it. So like, I think this could be a really, really fun, like all timer in terms of like a competition being shown on the show. I hope they do it. They do it justice. We'll see. Um, but, uh, but I don't know much else. There's not much else to show.
[00:54:59] I mean, I know. Maybe a jury for two hours. Do you think you're going to show like Yasha's vitals? Right. Like at one point, just be like, oh, here goes his oxygen. Boom. Down. Right. I'm a little worried. They're going to water. I'm a little worried. They're going to pretend he's not sick because it feels irresponsible. Oh, right. And where did he get it from? I don't think they're going to say that at all. Yeah. And I don't think they're going to, I don't think they're going to show him asking like begging for water every five minutes.
[00:55:30] That I understand. That's again, very like, you know how in squid game, they were like, they treated us really poorly. Why'd you go on squid games? Idiot. But no, not to victim blame. That's rude. But you know, y'all know. I mean, why would you go on big brother? Honestly, back in the day, maybe now be serious, be serious. But no, it's just, there's a clip I saw, right? Of Yash like falling in the HOH room.
[00:55:56] Like actually it's kind of scary after the comp, right? Where he was like coughing and doing all that. Like, unless you want to build up his hero edit, that'd be nice. You know, be like, oh, I did all this for Taylor. And then, you know, insert Tiffany's like, well, I lost. Right. So maybe that, but it's just, if they don't show it, that's so messed up on you. Like for you.
[00:56:25] But what else they got guys? Like, I don't. Devin's talking about, okay, so what's your final food meal, right? And whatever else he was doing. And maybe they'll, oh, they'll trash on Drew. That'll be. I mean, that's always a good expect, man. We got that for sure in some ways. Exactly. Yeah. I don't know. It's just Barrett was like on mute the whole time. So I don't know if they, if they don't show that about, yes, that's, that's really sad. Well, we'll find out.
[00:56:55] Like I said, two hours on Wednesday. We'll be here afterward for the recap. And then another two hours on Thursday, the double eviction. And once more, we'll be back here to talk through it all. I'll also be here again tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. Eastern updating on everything that happens today on the Big Brother 28 live feeds tomorrow night. We have the round table. And then guess what? Tuesday night, we have the survivor draft at 8 p.m. Eastern.
[00:57:24] So it's, we're loading up here. You know, it's, it's, it's not really a day off for me because then Friday is on. It's literally every day of the week next week. I'm bringing you podcasts in the morning and at night. So stay tuned for all of that. Survivor will be premiering next week. So that'll be very fun as well. I believe. Yeah, that's next week. So stay tuned for all of it.
[00:57:49] You can check out my Patreon also where I streamed for nine hours straight, like with no prep for this competition. That VOD has been posted if you want to check it out. I appreciate all of those that do. And, and that's about it on my end. Sasha, what do you got going on? Yeah, check out right here on Rob as a podcast, YouTube, or of course we know Dancing with the Stars because guess what?
[00:58:19] We're back, baby. Dancing with the Stars is back. Matt and I are here. We did a draft. Well, reverse draft where we said we can't pick the winner of the show. So much more interesting. So check all of that out. And of course, if you care about pop culture, why something's trending or just, you know, want to hear Kirsten and I talk mess, go check out messmagnets.com for all of that. All right. And Brian.
[00:58:48] Challenge 42 cooking halfway into the season. Allie and I got that covered over there. So come join our Facebook group. Come listen to the podcast. Good season so far. Kind of similar to this episode with not a lot of decision making strategically by production, not really loud, but still fun season overall. So come check that out. All right. Well, that is what we have for you tonight. Thank you all so much for joining us and we will see all of you next time.
