Today, hosts Rob Cesternino and Taran Armstrong interview Big Brother 26's A.I. Instigator, Tucker Des Lauriers about his time in the Big Brother 26 house.[00:00:00] Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cesternino back with you for another Big Brother Post Season Interview. And today we got another fun one coming up. We are going to talk to Tucker Des Lauriers. He is America's favorite player and he is here with us for a quick chat arranged by the powers that be at CBS.
[00:00:23] Taryn and I actually recorded this on Thursday afternoon. So Tucker is getting ready for Halloween in case you're wondering why he's talking about Halloween costumes here in this interview. Also on Thursday, we did an interview with Angela Murray and we posted that on Friday morning. You can check that out both in our podcast feed and on our YouTube channel at robhisswebsite.com slash YouTube.
[00:00:48] Okay, so we have a fun one here for you today. Taryn and I talking with America's favorite player, Tucker. All right, we are very excited to be joined here by America's favorite player, but we were scheduled to talk to Tucker Des Lauriers, but it looks like Joseph Rodriguez is here.
[00:01:12] Oh, it's Tucker. Oh, it's Tucker in a Joseph costume. Oh, is this a deep fake? Is this a deep fake?
[00:01:20] Is this the AI instigator? Yeah, it's a mix of all of it. Absolutely. Okay, Tucker. How are you here with Rob and Karen?
[00:01:30] I am so lovely. Thank you guys for having me again. And thank you America for making me AFP. I tell everybody every day and they hate it and I love it.
[00:01:40] Yeah. Tucker, can you give us that? What's the grand total of prize money you cleared here on Big Brother 26? If I may be so bold.
[00:01:52] 76,000. Not a bad summer, right?
[00:01:54] No, not at all. Yeah, no. Finesse that game, I guess.
[00:02:02] Did you make more than MJ?
[00:02:08] Yeah. Sorry, MJ.
[00:02:12] Yeah, but did you do more for the ratings?
[00:02:19] Yeah.
[00:02:22] Tucker, how's life outside the Big Brother house?
[00:02:25] Man, it is lovely. I got to take this off.
[00:02:29] It's fallen off.
[00:02:30] It's the gift that keeps on giving. It's been unreal. Running into fans, having all this support, doing cameos for people.
[00:02:39] I absolutely love it. I'm a huge fan. I know I take a while to get the cameos done. That's because I just really make them very personal and 100% me.
[00:02:49] But it's been just, again, the gift that keeps on giving, getting all this support. It really just keeps a big smile on your face and warms your heart.
[00:02:59] It's crazy to have all these supporters and feel so understood being a wild, obnoxious, misunderstood dude.
[00:03:09] Sounds so good, guys.
[00:03:11] Do you feel like you're often misunderstood?
[00:03:17] Sometimes, yeah. I mean, I'm the youngest of three brothers.
[00:03:21] So my two older brothers, you know, they're more businessy. They're like financial advisors and like business consultants. And I'm the artsy dude.
[00:03:28] So like my family and I are ridiculously close, but just that younger brotherness, if I try to teach my other brothers something, you know, it's, it's that much harder.
[00:03:39] And, you know, getting out, everyone was very proud and stuff, but to try not to cry, but to have my two older brothers say how proud they were of me was, was the best. So, yeah.
[00:03:53] Tucker, I know all the Tubina stands know, but could you give us the status for you and Rubina with that?
[00:03:59] You, you were my son's favorite player on the season. And I said, Dominic, what should I ask? He said, find out if, uh, what's going on with him and Rubina.
[00:04:10] It's official. It's official. We did our post together, uh, where she's coming out on Saturday. So we can finally spend some time together. Um, I mean, we did after the show wrapped, but you're still with everybody.
[00:04:25] You were getting, give her the flowers. We thought for a second, Oh wait, is he, is he doing what we think we're going to?
[00:04:31] My mother just sent me an article on Facebook saying how like we plan to get married and people are just wrote a whole article. They zoomed in on pictures cause I'm wearing rings and she's wearing rings. And I'm just like, you guys, we don't.
[00:04:48] That AI Ainsley lives. They said Ainsley died, but Ainsley lives to write fake articles on the internet.
[00:04:54] Ainsley is Facebook at this point.
[00:04:57] I mean, listen, there's the track record for proposals on finales. I think right now is a good 50, 50. So like,
[00:05:05] nice. That's beating, uh, the 53, 55% divorce rate. So let's go.
[00:05:12] Yeah. Pretty good.
[00:05:14] Yeah, no Tucker. So this season, uh, you really added a lot to the unpredictable nature of the show. And a lot of that was with the AI arena that they have, uh,
[00:05:26] the interview Dalton Ross, I believe interviewed, uh, Alison Grodner and this past week and his AI arena,
[00:05:31] the three, or at least, uh, some version of it is going to be back next season. Tucker, that do you feel like that? Is it fair to say that you changed the game?
[00:05:41] Uh, I don't think so. Cause I didn't invent the AI.
[00:05:47] Yeah. So hard without you.
[00:05:52] Yeah. You never know. That's the, that's the beauty of this whole thing. It's the butterfly effect. You know, people are like,
[00:05:58] would there anything you'd rather do in there differently? And I wouldn't want to change anything. Cause you know,
[00:06:03] the best gift is the gift of experience. And that was definitely a great one. Um, no, I don't think I,
[00:06:09] I changed it or anything, uh, maybe made it more exciting, but at the same time, uh, the ones that I
[00:06:19] wasn't in there that I've seen online are very exciting as well. So I just, I just get in character and was
[00:06:27] rocking out up there. So like obviously a huge part of, uh, your game was like how many times you
[00:06:34] volunteered for the block. Do you think you would have volunteered as much if the AI arena wasn't there?
[00:06:42] No, no way. Yeah, no, the volunteering, um, being on the outskirts the first few weeks, you know,
[00:06:49] that's why I first did it with Chelsea. Cause we hadn't talked to any game. And I remember saying to her,
[00:06:53] I was like, yo, this is me. This is me letting you know, I'm trying to play, play this game.
[00:06:57] Game with you and talk game. Uh, I was not very clear on that. Trying to say like, let's work together.
[00:07:03] I thought she would have picked up on it. I think she sort of did, but, um, you know, Chelsea, Chelsea's
[00:07:09] a legend at that game. So smart move for her to probably not get close to me. Cause I was wild.
[00:07:15] And everyone that was close to me was getting picked off once I left. But, um, yeah, nah, it was,
[00:07:24] I don't think I would change anything, but going up there, it was really just something you had to do
[00:07:28] to one. I'd wanted to get the whole experience and I felt like people were going to be coming
[00:07:33] after me quick. And, and two, it was just for my strategy. It was the right move. I was very
[00:07:39] confident in that area. I didn't think I would go out. Um, and the first two times worked.
[00:07:46] I don't know about that third though. Well, do you, do you feel like you started the culture
[00:07:52] of volunteering for the block in the house? Or do you feel like it was already there when you
[00:07:56] started doing it? Oh man, I don't know. I just, I just, yeah, I just improv'd and went and was
[00:08:04] winging it in there. Cause you know, I had my like blueprint for how I'm going to play this game.
[00:08:08] Um, you know, I've watched a number of seasons, but by no mean a super fan. So, uh, I really watched
[00:08:15] it just to like study for it. And, um, yeah, nah, I don't think so. I don't know.
[00:08:23] I don't know. I mean, in a way, right? Like on Cedric's HOH, you obviously you had this whole plan.
[00:08:32] Um, it doesn't go through. I think I've seen that you have now been like, okay, Cedric,
[00:08:37] you probably did tell me not to use. Oh no, not probably. He a hundred percent did. Uh,
[00:08:45] and like, I remember that conversation being in the house and my just literally never even heard that
[00:08:51] part. I was probably in my head or just like, cause the second I saw Cedric that morning,
[00:08:56] I was just reading his body language and I was like, Oh, I can tell he's on the other
[00:09:01] side right now. So I know he's going to talk to me. And the second he does, I'm just going to like
[00:09:06] triple down on what we say. Cause we went over everything. Like he had nothing to lose. He
[00:09:11] could have just played it off. Like I was being dumb, you know? Uh, like if, if everything failed
[00:09:17] that I would have just been getting run over by this bus. Uh, but if everything worked out, then,
[00:09:22] you know, me, Kenny Cedric and cam would have been a part of a big legendary thing. Um,
[00:09:30] so yeah, the second he came up to me to talk to me, uh, I won't say exactly what I said,
[00:09:35] but I was like, I don't give up about the numbers, bro. We went over this all last night.
[00:09:40] And so I was just, I was just locked right in and, uh, Oh man, the second hand embarrassment.
[00:09:47] Sorry. I was getting texts. I just shut off my phone, but the second hand embarrassment,
[00:09:52] uh, still hitting hard, uh, listen to prevail. And I'm like, the truth did prevail.
[00:10:00] It just wasn't your truth. There it is. The real truth. Yeah. The real truth always does. Yeah.
[00:10:07] No, but that was great. I love Cedric. I felt bad about that. Uh, but he, he, he and I are tight.
[00:10:12] He knows that it was just fun and games and, uh, I respect the hell out of that kid. He's a beast.
[00:10:16] Yeah. Well, just, just to, to finish the thought, like, I think it's very funny because in some ways
[00:10:22] it was that culture of volunteering for the block that then got him evicted on the following week
[00:10:28] because he volunteered for the block. Um, and so in a way you could claim a little bit of
[00:10:35] responsibility. I think. Yeah. Oh yeah. I could stretch it if I want.
[00:10:41] Tucker. So you had, uh, this very interesting experience of, so you go out there
[00:10:46] and you're in the house for the first half of the game and then you are out here with us and you're
[00:10:51] watching the second half of the game play out on TV and the feeds. What were your thoughts on how the
[00:10:59] house changed after you were gone? Uh, it definitely got quieter. Uh, and I think
[00:11:12] more sneaky and backstabby and serious, uh, that's it's an intense game. And my whole thing was, you
[00:11:19] know, I take my work very seriously, but never myself. And it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.
[00:11:25] I didn't want to be in there and kind of just be like, we'll just go with the flow. Like a lot,
[00:11:30] I feel like a lot of people got there and they made it in this once in a lifetime opportunity and we're
[00:11:34] ready to chill and relax. And I was ready to kick it into fourth, fifth and sixth gear. Uh,
[00:11:41] and yeah, I just think that was a big difference of it. Uh, there is a lot of stuff online about how
[00:11:48] the gods in the house, their whole tone changed. They had a lot shorter temper with them. Uh,
[00:11:54] that was hilarious. Uh, Rubina and I were talking about janky world the other day and she's like,
[00:12:00] you would've, you would've hated it. There's no way. And I was like, I would've thrived. And she's
[00:12:04] like, no, you wouldn't have. It sucked. And I was like, yeah, but those things that suck,
[00:12:08] like the punishments, that's when you really got to make it a glass half full mentality. Cause it's
[00:12:14] so easy to flip the other way. Um, but she's probably right. I probably would've lost my mind.
[00:12:18] Uh, but I was just joking around saying like, you know, if you guys didn't vote me out,
[00:12:23] maybe janky world wouldn't even happen. It was payback. Even though of course it would have,
[00:12:27] but it was just, it's been hilarious. It w it, did you like jump on the feeds and watch,
[00:12:33] or was it like kind of hard to watch? No, it was right away. I was feeding every day on my phone
[00:12:41] and then on my laptop, like falling asleep to it, waking up to it. I was,
[00:12:46] I was a fiend for the live feeds. It was bad. Okay. So besides Rubina, what other house guests
[00:12:52] have you kept up with, uh, since the season's been over? Hey, you want to come over here?
[00:12:58] Oh, wait. Hurry up. Who's here?
[00:13:05] It's the real Joseph Rodriguez.
[00:13:08] Dragon donuts. Wait, is that Joe, which one is Tucker and which one is Joseph at this point?
[00:13:13] I don't even, now it's super confused. Okay. Twin twist. Yes. All the twin twists with me and my
[00:13:19] brother. It was hilarious. Joseph, how are you? Good. How are you guys doing? Oh, we're psyched to see
[00:13:24] you. Oh yeah. Yeah. We're going to be partying for Halloween tonight. I'm going to dress up as
[00:13:29] Tucker from the AI arena with the Mohawk. Yeah. Got the whole thing. Oh, there you go. Nice.
[00:13:36] Hell yeah. All right. AFP only. AFP only.
[00:13:43] Sorry. I'm going to run this thing to the grave. I'm going to run it to the grave.
[00:13:45] Joseph and I obviously hanging out. Kenny came to my mom's place. I met his kids. Uh,
[00:13:50] he met my family. That was sweet. Um, Rubina is coming by in two days. Uh, I mean, we hung out
[00:13:57] with everybody after the show, but I plan on seeing everyone. I think Cam's coming out soon. T
[00:14:01] core and chemo are coming out, plan to go visit everybody too. So, wow. Staying close with everyone,
[00:14:07] you know, it's, it's been a, it was, it was a trauma bonding once in a lifetime experience. And I don't,
[00:14:14] I don't understand in my mind how past seasons still have beef and whatever it's.
[00:14:20] Yeah. It's all fun and games, you know, it doesn't matter what goes down there. I know there's a lot
[00:14:24] of intense things that can happen and have happened, but you gotta be an adult and compartmentalize this
[00:14:30] stuff and just, just be grateful for the opportunity. Cause if they weren't there,
[00:14:35] it wouldn't have been the same either. You, everything, everything's connected.
[00:14:38] Tucker, what about your rival in the house and sometimes friend of me, Quinn? Are you two,
[00:14:44] back on good terms?
[00:14:46] Oh yeah. No, Quinn and I were like WWE champs in there, you know,
[00:14:50] after like big speech, we had a talk. He's like, bro, you okay? Like, did I offend you?
[00:14:55] I was like, no, but also if you told me you were going to do that,
[00:14:58] we could have worked together. And he's like, why would you tell him now?
[00:15:00] And I'm like, well,
[00:15:02] telling you now to see if you're going to be like, let's work together.
[00:15:04] But no, Quinn and I were always,
[00:15:06] it was always WWE after anybody did anything.
[00:15:10] We made sure to talk with the other person right away and be like, yo,
[00:15:15] like even with Cedric,
[00:15:16] when I was super mad and I was like, yo,
[00:15:18] don't talk to me for the rest of the week.
[00:15:20] Just embarrassed about that too.
[00:15:21] And then like 20 minutes later, I was like, yeah, I love you, bro.
[00:15:24] Sorry. I just was, was upset.
[00:15:25] Like I'm still coming after you, but like, you know,
[00:15:27] it's just the game and I respect you and I think you're a good player.
[00:15:31] So I'm coming after you.
[00:15:33] So, so yeah, no, we're great.
[00:15:34] Quinn was in our Airbnb that I got after the finale and stuff.
[00:15:38] It's people like my friends here, they were all like, yo, dude,
[00:15:43] screw Quinn.
[00:15:44] And then when, when they like saw him outside and us hanging out,
[00:15:47] they're like, yeah, screw Quinn in the game.
[00:15:50] But like, we really want to hang out.
[00:15:51] We like this guy.
[00:15:52] Yeah.
[00:15:53] We're very similar.
[00:15:54] Yeah.
[00:15:54] What about Lisa?
[00:15:57] Lisa, I respect her a lot.
[00:15:59] I still don't think she's a chef.
[00:16:01] Sorry, Lisa.
[00:16:03] I know we've talked about it, but we can battle it out anytime.
[00:16:07] But no, I'm very proud of her.
[00:16:10] We had a nice one for doing the whole glitter line and stuff.
[00:16:13] I think that's a really good idea.
[00:16:15] And, you know, it was actually a good experience.
[00:16:18] I hung out with her after we got coffees together and I was very unaware on
[00:16:24] how hard she took everything.
[00:16:26] So that was a big, it was like a two hour long coffee thing.
[00:16:30] And, you know, I just have fun.
[00:16:34] And then like, you know, it could be taken.
[00:16:36] Like I was making fun of her and like bullying her or whatever.
[00:16:39] But it was really like, yeah, I was definitely poking fun at her.
[00:16:43] But it's just weird.
[00:16:45] Cause in my family, you do that to the people that you love and you're close
[00:16:48] with.
[00:16:48] And like, I wouldn't want to do it with someone I didn't think could handle it.
[00:16:51] And I thought she could.
[00:16:52] And then like, you just get lost in it being in the house and like, you know,
[00:16:57] everybody's saying whatever.
[00:16:58] So then it's just feeds into your thing.
[00:17:01] But yeah, no, it was, it was a great thing.
[00:17:03] And like, I'm proud that she had the time to take there.
[00:17:06] She took the time to talk to me about it and explain her emotions.
[00:17:09] Cause I, I wouldn't, I felt terrible.
[00:17:12] I didn't want to hurt her feelings and stuff.
[00:17:14] I was just having fun in there.
[00:17:15] And that's, that can happen any times in any place.
[00:17:19] So yeah, I apologize to her profusely.
[00:17:22] Um, and, uh, yeah, we can cook it off anytime.
[00:17:27] I'll open your ass, Lisa.
[00:17:29] I think like the next, what a master chef, uh, whatever.
[00:17:33] I'll cook it down with it right now.
[00:17:35] I got friends coming over for dinner.
[00:17:37] I got meatballs ready.
[00:17:38] I'm going to do some pasta and season salad.
[00:17:40] Don't get me started.
[00:17:41] I also, I have to know about the CIA training.
[00:17:45] Oh, okay.
[00:17:46] This is hilarious.
[00:17:47] Um, that was, there was a misconspute a little, but one of my acting
[00:17:52] coaches, uh, he teaches psychological character development.
[00:17:56] So basically to break it down, there's four mental factors of processing
[00:18:00] information.
[00:18:01] Everybody uses them in different orders.
[00:18:03] And basically everyone's life story is written on their surface.
[00:18:06] And the more they try to cover it up, the more they have these shadow
[00:18:09] movements or things that poke through.
[00:18:12] So you do this class cause you have to a hundred percent know yourself and
[00:18:16] everything that makes you, you, because once you do that, then you can
[00:18:19] switch these drives.
[00:18:20] Like I'm a fun, happy, loose dude, but how would I walk in a room and have
[00:18:25] people instead of be like, Oh, he looks like fun.
[00:18:27] Be like, this guy's crazy.
[00:18:29] Let's get out of here.
[00:18:30] So that's what that training is.
[00:18:31] And he teaches everybody from like, it's, you know, Anthony Hopkins,
[00:18:36] Pierce Brosnan to, uh, Tom Hardy, et cetera, et cetera.
[00:18:41] And, uh, he also teaches the CIA.
[00:18:44] He's taught the CIA this stuff because it helps them go super undercover.
[00:18:48] So that's, that's the, that's the CIA.
[00:18:52] Yes.
[00:18:52] Of it.
[00:18:53] Do you think it would, did it work in there?
[00:18:56] She was lying.
[00:18:57] I called her out about three things and was stuck on the one power up, but she was lying
[00:19:03] about the mad thing, but no, I think it definitely helped.
[00:19:06] Uh, I really felt like I had a read on everybody after like the first week or so.
[00:19:13] Um, Angela was the only one I couldn't get a grip on.
[00:19:17] That's why I kept her mad close.
[00:19:18] Cause I was like, one, it was unfair at the beginning.
[00:19:22] She deserved more time to be there.
[00:19:24] And two, like, let's go after the competitors.
[00:19:26] Let's make this an exciting season.
[00:19:28] Like I was told up till week six, we were doing house votes.
[00:19:31] And I was like, that means I'm probably week seven.
[00:19:34] So, uh, I'd rather go out swinging.
[00:19:37] Tucker, now that big brother is over, would you consider any other reality, uh, TV appearances?
[00:19:44] Are you open?
[00:19:46] Send them my way.
[00:19:47] Let's see what happens.
[00:19:49] I'm open up anything.
[00:19:51] Yeah.
[00:19:51] Uh, and then, uh, very quickly.
[00:19:54] Um, do you still really like puzzles?
[00:19:58] Right.
[00:19:58] So I still really like my puzzles.
[00:20:00] And so I've got one going on my desk right now too.
[00:20:02] So I've got 4d puzzles.
[00:20:04] So yeah, I still really like puzzles.
[00:20:05] Okay.
[00:20:06] All right.
[00:20:07] Tucker, is there anything else you want to tell people about?
[00:20:11] Uh, my merch just dropped.
[00:20:14] It's there.
[00:20:14] We got a bunch more.
[00:20:16] Uh, this one don't fall down background.
[00:20:20] We got that dog in me.
[00:20:22] Got that dog in me.
[00:20:23] Shout out to my dog in Tucker.
[00:20:25] That's right.
[00:20:26] And then we got a couple of these versions out.
[00:20:30] Yeah.
[00:20:30] What's that say?
[00:20:31] Tucker.
