[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cesternino back with our final exit interview of the pre-jury.
[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And today we're talking with a person who was shockingly voted out of the house last night.
[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_01]: A huge move. Joseph Rodriguez will join us.
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_01]: My final hope in the draft is out of the house and we'll talk with him in just a moment.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Taryn will be joining me for that as he gets ready for the live feed update with Puya coming up in just a little bit.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, you can check these all out.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Plus all of our Survivor preseason interviews on our YouTube channel at robisthewebsite.com.
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: BBQ&A coming up for the patrons. We'll be taking questions from our patrons.
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Taryn and I will be at 4pm today. So patrons, you've got the link at robisthewebsite.com.
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I see that we have Joseph on the line. Let's go ahead and bring him in.
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, everybody. Here he is. I hope you know us. It's Rob and Taryn from RHAP.
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: How are you doing, Joseph?
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I know both of you very well and I've been better, Rob.
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. Now look, I know that you've been listening to the podcast, but were you paying attention, Joseph?
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, Rob. Why do you say that?
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Because you're talking to us.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I would try to listen.
[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Joseph, you seem to go in with a strategy of throwing competitions a lot.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Throughout the season, did you ever feel like there was a time to shift that strategy
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_02]: or did you feel like that was what you were dedicated to?
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_03]: To be honest with you, the only one I blatantly threw was the wall.
[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_03]: The rest of them, I really didn't care that much whether or not I won them.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was genuinely not that athletic.
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So I feel like even if I was trying my best, I wouldn't have been able to win them anyway.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Joseph, one thing about you, you had a lot of confidence.
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You felt very good about where you were.
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you feel like the tides were shifting at all over the course of this week?
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I knew that in the power rankings, I was number seven.
[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_03]: If we were doing it, number eight.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think you got in the stock watch this week?
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Probably a three.
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Let me check. Okay, keep going.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel like I was in a good position for a while and then it just came crashing down.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_03]: The comparisons to Dr. Will and Dan were prompted to me in the DR.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_03]: So that was not of my own volition.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_03]: They asked me who I was trying to model my game after.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, a little hubris definitely did me in.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Two this week.
[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Two? Oh God.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't looking great, Joseph.
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Because obviously Chelsea and MJ, Chelsea had actually flipped MJ to her cause in sort of taking you out this week.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_02]: She was really upset with a lot of the things that you were saying MJ was as well
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_02]: about you being able to win in the final two.
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_02]: MJ in particular took offense to you saying that she wasn't an end game threat.
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is not a good idea.
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_02]: This is sort of something that you had not necessarily been pointedly doing throughout the season.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_02]: But you were often talking your own game up and talking about how you would have a really good chance to win in the final two.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Can you talk to me about the strategy behind that?
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, in that same conversation I had with Mackenzie, she just said that she felt like people saw her as a threat.
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: So I was trying to reassure her by being like, you know, I do think that you could also beat me in the end.
[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_03]: But we should work with each other because I feel like we would both have a good chance.
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's what I was trying to do there.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Just reassure her that like, hey, I don't see you as a bigger threat than anyone else.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to work with you more than anything.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Joseph, one of the really interesting things that developed in the house was sort of this unique relationship that was going on between you and Leah and Quinn.
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Could you just talk a little bit from your perspective of how you felt like the love triangle was going?
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't say it was a love triangle by any means.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like it was we both had a crush on Leah and she didn't on either of us.
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_03]: And that was about it.
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he did.
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: He did call her sick, nasty.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: He said the word sensational came to mind when he thought of her.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Did you have any sort of monologues for her like Quinn did?
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_03]: You know better than me.
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, maybe you could.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you have one now.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Leah's awesome.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, doesn't everybody have a crush on her?
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, she's great.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So can you talk a little bit about just your plans for the endgame?
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: What were you hoping to have happen from this point?
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Had you stayed, what was going to be your master plan?
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Really, just like as far as who I wanted to take the end with me?
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_03]: I would have taken the lead to the end.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I would have beaten her in most situations.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was genuinely cool with going to the end with MJ.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And honestly, had I won HOH, I would have nominated Angela and Quinn
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and ran back to Chelsea.
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So when you made your final two with Tucker,
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_02]: there was a moment where you talked about like,
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_02]: oh, you know what?
[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_02]: This is my guy.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to go to the end with him.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, I know you talked about the fact that winning competitions
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: is a very good jury management strategy.
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: But it seemed like what you were trying to do was plant seeds
[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: throughout the season of like, hey,
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_02]: you don't have to win competitions to win the game.
[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I want to win.
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, hey, who was that guy, Dr. Will?
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think he won without having won a lot of competitions.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: But so was that kind of like the idea?
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Was that like you just kind of ride down and then hope that you could
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_02]: like, talk your way into beating Tucker?
[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that you would know better than most people
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_03]: that he did a lot of things in the house that rubbed people the wrong way.
[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that from a personal standpoint,
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that a lot of people would have voted for him
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_03]: because of some of the comments he made
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_03]: and sometimes the way he treated people.
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I actually don't think he would have had that good of a chance at the end.
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's overconfidence on my part,
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_03]: but I feel like people liked me more than him in a lot of instances.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And like I said, he did some things I feel like rubbed people the wrong way.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And also, I felt like he would get sniped at some point.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And I wouldn't have to do anything really.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So can you talk a little bit about when Tucker ended up going out
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_01]: from the house last week and how that impacted your game?
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, I didn't freak out that much about it.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I felt like, yeah, obviously my Final Two is gone or whatever,
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_03]: but I felt like I was trying to stay glass half full
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: and just be like, you know, I'll try to find a way out of this.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. You talked to people about your Final Two with Tucker afterwards,
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I think as sort of like an explanation for perhaps
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_02]: why you were doing certain things.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_02]: But again, it didn't quite land with people.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But what was the idea behind...
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Because Leah really was not happy with you
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_02]: when you said that you would vote to keep him over her.
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Why tell her that?
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I should have lied.
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_03]: That was just bullshit of me in the moment.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I just should have lied and was like,
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_03]: you know what I mean, she's kind of caught me off guard.
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And then with telling people about the Final Two with Tucker,
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like if I was just being forthright about it,
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_03]: it would explain a lot of the things that happened.
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_03]: And I feel like lying about it would have made it worse almost.
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And I always knew Chelsea knew.
[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_03]: So to me, it would have helped me with her to just admit to it.
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite moments from the season
[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_01]: was when you got sent to the Matrix.
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And you got the 24-hour solitary confinement.
[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was such a funny moment on the show.
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_01]: From your experience, was that intense?
[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_03]: It was honestly whatever.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It really wasn't that bad.
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it was a memorable experience.
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Was Matt really talking the whole time?
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no.
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_03]: They maybe played one or two every hour or so.
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So Joseph, I know you've been waiting for the chance
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_01]: to tell your story and be interviewed.
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you want people to know about your experience?
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_03]: This game's a lot more stressful than I thought it was going to be.
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It was super anxiety-inducing the whole time.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I did not expect it to be as hard as it was.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_03]: But I'm glad I got to do it.
[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It was fun and I laughed harder than I have sometimes.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I know I made a lot of mistakes that caused my downfall,
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_03]: but I also think I did some good things
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_03]: and some cool things along the way too.
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: So it was fun overall.
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Listen, at the end of the day,
[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_02]: you went in there and you went for it
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: and you played your own game.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: The season has been very fun.
[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_02]: You're part of a good one.
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. I appreciate it, guys.
[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_01]: What are you looking forward to seeing on the outside?
[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_03]: As far as what? The show?
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to see the intros.
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I would love to watch the Heinen Go Vito
[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and see how that was.
[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: We are very much looking forward to seeing
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: your reaction to everything.
[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Love the shirt, by the way.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. It's a good shirt.
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing great.
[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Your social media team has been killing it all season.
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's what I've been told.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: That's been really great.
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: All the best outside the house, Joseph.
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, Rob. Appreciate it.
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: There you have it.
[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Joseph Rodriguez out of the house.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Hard to read Joseph's mood today.
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure he's down.
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Very tight answers.
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes on the exit interview people go on and on.
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Very tight answers from Joseph.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: For a guy who wants to do a deep dive,
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: keeping it very brief.
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Short answers from Joseph here today.
[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Taren and I are going to be back later on
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: at 4pm for the BB Q&A.
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Taren's got the Live Feed update to go do with Puyat
[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk about everything that happened overnight on BB26.
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for listening.
[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Take care, everybody. Have a good one. Bye.
